The harness with nozzles should be attached to the boom frame in step 5.. Attach the tank to the brackets loosely as shown in the exploded view. 3. Place the sprayer onto the carrier rack of the ATV. Use the u-bolts and hardware to secure the tank mount to the rack. 4. Connect the boom mounting brackets to the tank mounting brackets with hardware provided as shown. Note these brackets will be located about 6 /4" apart on most ATV's. Now tighten all bolts and nuts. 5. Attach the nozzle harness to the metal frame of the center boom and the outer booms. The threaded part of the nozzles are to be inserted through the hoses, and secured with the hex nuts provided in the parts sack. See nozzle attaching detail later in this manual. 6. An additional set of plumbing fittings may be included with your boom kit.these may or may not be used. Fig. B shows how these fittings will attach to your sprayer, providing your sprayer has the V pump mounted on the "top" of your tank. If your sprayer has the manifold assembly off the outlet side of the pump, you probably will not need to utilize these fittings.. Correct part description and part number.. For the 'old' style tank, a 7/8" diameter hole must be drilled through the top of the tank for the bypass return hose. After threading the fittings together, locate the place on your tank for the hole so that the hose can be inserted without causing kinks. RATE CHART FOR 800 SPRAY TIP using the boom nozzles Four things must be considered before spraying with the boom.. How much chemical must be mixed in the tank.. Rate of spray (gallons per acre to be sprayed). 3. What pressure (P.S.I.) will be used. 4. Speed traveled (M.P.H.) while spraying. Refer to the chemical label to determine the chemical mixture. See the tip chart to determine the pressure to be used. The chart will also show the speed used when spraying. Open the valve to the boom nozzles. Check the spray pattern. Usually you can see the coverage better on solid concrete surface, such as a driveway. Raise or lower the nozzles so that you will have a good coverage pattern. If you can see dry spots on the concrete surface you will need to raise the nozzles. Generally, the proper height will be 8 inches from the object being sprayed. calibration Chemical labels may show application rates in gallons per acre, gallons per 000 square feet, or gallons per 00 square feet. You will note that the tip chart below shows all three of these rating systems. Once you know how much you are going to spray then determine (from the tip chart) the spraying pressure (PSI), and the spraying speed (MPH). When selecting pressure from the tip chart, it is a good idea to try for the 0 or 30 PSI range as this allows an excellent nozzle pattern. 0 PSI begins to break up the pattern, and at 40 PSI, you may notice some drift. TESTING THE SPRAYER Check the sprayer for leaks and be sure the sprayer works properly using 30-40 P.S.I. or the desired pressure required. Raise or lower the nozzles so that you will have a good coverage pattern. Generally the proper height will be 8 inches from the object being sprayed. MPH = Miles Per Hour FPM = Feet Per Minute PSI = Pounds Per Square Inch GPM = Gallons Per Minute Add water to the tank and drive to the starting place for testing. Adjust the pressure. Initially begin spraying by opening the handgun. This will enable the air in the line to be eliminated while building pressure. READY TO SPRAY Add the proper amounts of water and chemical to the tank and drive to the starting place for spraying. When you are ready to spray, turn the ball valve for the boom to the "on" position. This will start the solution spraying from the tips. Conditions of weather and terrain must be considered when setting the sprayer. Do not spray on windy days. Protective clothing must be worn in some cases. Be sure to read the chemical label carefully. If it becomes necessary to clean the screen in the suction line, remove the screen from the nylon swivel nut (located at the inlet of the pump). The screen may now be tapped or flushed with clear water for cleaning. WARNING: Some chemicals will damage the pump valves if allowed to soak untreated for a length of time. Always flush the pump with water after use. Do not allow chemicals to sit in pump for extended times if idleness. Follow chemical manufacturers instructions on disposal of all waste water from the sprayer. after spraying After use fill the sprayer part way with water, start the sprayer and allow clear water to be pumped through the plumbing system and out through the spray nozzles. Refill the tank about half full with plain water and use a chemical neutralizer such as Nutra-Sol or equivalent and repeat cleaning instructions above. Flush the entire sprayer with the neutralizing agent. Follow the chemical manufacturers disposal instructions of all wash or rinsing water. Page
Remove tips and screens from the boom. Wash tips thoroughly with water or cleaning solution (appropriate for chemical used). Blow out orifice, clean and dry. If orifice remains clogged, clean it with a fine bristle (not wire) brush, or with a toothpick. Do not damage the orifice. Water rinse and dry tips before storing. winter storage The sprayer should be winterized before storage by pumping a solution of RV anti-freeze through the entire plumbing. Proper care and maintenance will prolong the life of the sprayer. Page 3
