FERRIES FERRY TOSHIMA 1,389-GT Car Ferry FERRY TOSHIMA, an 86-meter long car ferry, was built at Uraga Works of Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd. and was delivered to Toshima Village in February 2000. The ship navigates at service speed of 19 knots, which enables it to make three round trips a week from Kagoshima via seven small islands to Naze of Amamioshima Island. 3. The vessel carries passenger cars, transporters, buses, trucks, dump trucks, and complete knockdown parts (CKD). 1. The vessel has twelve car decks including three liftable car decks. Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. has completed the world largest grab dredger GOSHO and delivered to Kabushiki Kaisha Kojimagumi in May 2000. The dredger is a sister vessel of TOSHO, delivered in 1995, with some improvements. 1. The dredger realizes the large scale and economical dredging by the self-contained electro-hydraulic grab bucket and hydraulically operate counterweight balanced lifting / lowering system, patented by Kojimagumi. 2.
