TSB 89-041 Rev. D Page 1 of 7 POWER CONTACTOR UP-DATE KIT # 99346 APPLICABLE TO: PURPOSE: CAD-17000, CAD-25000 To Replace Manufacture s Discontinued Model GENERAL: In order to simplify installation of the new contactor, please note whether the dryer to be modified has two circuit breakers (one for each compressor) or three breakers (one for each compressor plus a main breaker). If the dryer has two breakers, use instruction sheet number one. If it has three breakers use instruction sheet number two. Each of the instruction sheets contains information for both the CAD-17000 and the CAD-25000. Although the wiring is essentially the same for both dryers, because the 17000 is single phase and the 25000 is 3 phase, they do vary slightly. This is best illustrated in the wiring diagram (fig. # 1) as well as in the step-by step procedure.
Page 2 of 7 INSTRUCTION SHEET ONE (FOR DRYER SYSTEMS WITH 2 BREAKERS) 1.) Disconnect power from dryer. 2.) Remove (from the harness) the wht/rd wires which runs from both contactors (2 wires each) to the primary side of the transformer, and to terminal board #2 position #1. and discard. (See Fig. #1) 3.) Connect #16 red wire (provided) to the primary side of the transformer (where wht/rd was removed). Connect other end of red wire to terminal board #2 position #1. (Note which dryer type (CAD-l7000 or CAD-25000 and follow diagram Fig. #1. ) 4.) Connect wht/red wire (provided) to L1 at the top of each contactor (where power comes in from each breaker). Connect the other end of this wire to terminal board #2 position #1 (See Fig. #1) 5.) ON CAD-25000 SYSTEMS ONLY AND DOING ONE BREAKER AT A TIME: Disconnect the white 12 gauge wire from the top of the contactor and connect it to the white 12 gauge wire from the bottom of the SAME contactor using the butt connector provided. 6.) Determine if there are any blue or wht/blu wires connected to the right side of the original contactors. If there are none, proceed directly to step #7. If there are blue and wht/blu wires, remove these wires, which run from the humidity alarm relay to the contactors and from front contactor to rear contactor as shown in Fig. #3. Cut from harness and discard. 7.) Remove remaining wires from contactors front and rear. Keeping wires grouped for each contactor. 8.) Remove old contactors. 9.) See Fig. #2 for location of (2) 9/64 dia. holes to be drilled in electrical box. 10.) Install mounting bracket with (2) # 10 X 1/2? self tapping screws provided. 11.) To install contactors, hook top of contactor into bracket at a 450 angle and then push bottom in. Contactor will snap in place. (To remove contactor from bracket, gently pry down on metal clip, located on bottom right, with a screwdriver) 12.) Install the wht/blk wire to terminal 13 of both contactors (This wire comes from the primary side of the transformer. (See Fig. #1)
Page 3 of 7 13.) Install the 2 black jumpers provided between pins L2 and 13 at the top of each contactor as shown in figure #1. 14.) Install the remaining wires and jumpers as shown in figure #1. 15.) Restore power and return to normal operation.

Remove (from the harness) the wht/rd and red wires which run from the left side of both contactors to the primary side of the transformer (red), and to terminal board #2 position #1. (wht/red) (See Fig. #1) 3.) Connect #16 red wire (provided) to the primary side of the transformer (where red wire was removed). Connect other end of red wire to terminal board #2 position #1. (See Fig. #1) 4.) ON CAD-25000 SYSTEMS ONLY AND DOING ONE BREAKER AT A TIME: Disconnect the white 12 gauge wire from the top of the contactor and connect it to the white 12 gauge wire from the bottom of the SAME contactor using the butt connector provided. 5.) Remove remaining wires from contactors front and rear. Keeping wires grouped for each contactor. 6.) Remove old contactors. 7.) See figure 2 for location of (2) 9/64" dia. holes to be drilled in electrical box. 8.) Install mounting bracket with (2) # 10 X «" self tapping screws provided. 9.) To install contactors, hook top of contactor into bracket at a 45ø angle and then push bottom in. Contactor will snap in place. (To remove contactor from bracket, gently pry down on metal clip, located on bottom right, with a screwdriver) 10.) Attach wires to contactors as shown in Fig. #1. Note which dryer type (CAD-17000 or CAD- 25000) and follow diagram (Fig. #1). 11). Restore power and return to normal operation.
