RENEWABLE ENERGIES 2.0 Through its PowerTech technology, Knorr Bremse is at the forefront of designing energy concepts for the future. Power s are an important link between energy sources, consumers and applications. They optimize power that is generated by individual power sources such as windparks. Power s also help optimize the power grid by converting excess energy during peak loads to stored energy and then converting this stored energy back to the grid during non-peak times. PowerTech also has the expertise to optimizes grid power by feeding in reactive current for power factor optimization and low voltage ride through. FULL POWER FOR THE GRID Todays energy grids increasingly balance various energy sources and loads. This could include wind, solar, hydropower and conventional energy sources combined with concepts such as batteries or power-to-gas. With the aid of grid compensation systems for large hydrolysis systems, for instance, or simply for large consumers of supplied power, the load on the grid is significantly reduced by minimizing the reactive currents produced there that cannot be utilized.
