Valve bodies with pressfit connection and self-sealing tailpiece. Type RA-N for two pipe systems EN 215 Application Straight Angle Horizontal angle The valve bodies with pressfit connection are used for heating systems with stainlass steel or copper pipes. The fitting require a commercial compression tool. List of available tools is found on page 2. The valve bodies are physically and technically identical to RA-N, DN15 standard valves. All RA 2000 thermostatic sensors, as well as the new RAX design series, may be used as desired. The RA-N valve bodies with integrated presetting are used in two-pipe pumped heating systems. Flow is adjustable in the range 0.04-0.73 m 3 /h. RA-N valve bodies are supplied with a red protective cap which can be used for manual regulation during the construction phase. The protective cap must not be used as a manual shut off device. A special manual shut off device (code no. 013G5000) should be used. Technical data are according to Euronorm EN 215. The valve bodies are equipped with a self sealing tailpiece featuring an O-ring seal. Valve bodies are manufactured from DZR brass with nickel plating. The pressure pin of the gland seal is of chrominium steel and works in a lifetime lubricated O-ring. The complete gland seal can be replaced without draining down the system. Should water treatment be used it is essential that dosing instructions of the manufacturer are strictly observed. It is recommended that formulations containing mineral oil are avoided. The k vs -value states the flow Q at a maximum lift, i.e. at fully open valve at setting N. At setting N the k v -value is stated according to EN 215, at Xp = 2K i.e. the valve is closed at 2 C higher room temperature. At lower settings the Xp value is reduced to 0.5 K of the setting value 1. 2) The maximum differential pressure specified is the maximum pressure at which the valves give satisfactory regulation. As with any device which imposes a pressure drop in the system, noise may occur under certain flow/pressure conditions. To ensure quiet operation, maximum pressure drop should not exceed 0.05-0.2 bar. The differential pressure can be reduced by the use of a Danfoss differential pressure regulator. O-Ring (5pcs.) 013G0290 013G4149 Approvals Danfoss Pressfit valves are tested and approved according to EN 215 (CEN). Pipes compatible with Danfoss pressfit valves are according to EN 10312 (welded stainless steel pipes ), EN 10305-3 (Thin-walled carbon steel pipes), EN 1057 (seemless copper pipes) with a minimum wall thickness of 1 mm. The O-rings used in the Danfoss pressfit valves bodies are according to EN 681. DKCD VDUZL402 Danfoss 02/2009 1
Presetting Presetting area Reference mark The calculated setting value can be set easily and accurately without using special tools: remove the protective cap or sensor. raise the setting ring. turn the scale on the setting ring until the desired value faces the reference mark, orientated towards the valve outlet. release the setting ring. Factory setting = N. N the valve is completely open. A setting in the shaded area must be avoided. When the sensor is mounted, the presetting is hidden and thus protected against unauthorized alteration. The presetting can be chosen from values between 1 and 7 with intervals of 0.5. At setting Press system Pipes Copper and stainless stell pipes which complies to EN 1057 or EN 10312. Steel pipes Outer diametre and pipe weight according to EN 10312, Table 2 for serie 2 steelpipes. Danfoss recommends a pipe weight of min. 1 mm. Carbon steel pipes Tubes in unalloyed steel E195(W.nr.1.0034) and E235(W.nr.1.0308) according to EN10305-2 or EN 10305-3 in condition +A or +N. Copper pipes Outer diametre and wall thickness according to EN 1057, Table 3. Danfoss recommends a minimal wall thickness of 1 mm. Pipe hardness min. R 290, meaning that only copper pipes in bars are compatible. No internal reinforcement is required. Compatibility The pressable area of Danfoss Pressfit valves are designed to match a range of commercial press tools and jaws as described in the table. For tools not mentined please check the with the manufacturer. Compatible press tools Press tools and jaws must be used and serviced as described by their manufacturer, and the actual press operation must be inspected. Danfoss require a minimal press force of 30 kn. The actual pressing must not be interrupted and the tool should be locked for removal until the pressing has been completed correctly. The testing of the press points is done according to the manufactures specs. Capacity Capacities in combination with RA 2000 sensor at P band between 0.5 K and 2K. The P band is the change in room temperature which is required to move the valve from closed position to the position which allows the calculated flow. Sizing example: Required heat: 0.7 kw Cooling across radiator: 20 C. Flow through radiator: Q = 0.7 20 x 1.16 = 0.03 m 3 /h = 30 liter/h Pressure drop across valve: p = 1 mwg. Valve setting: 2.5 Alternatively the setting can be read directly in the table "Data and ordering": k v = Q (m 3 /h) p (bar) 4 VDUZL402 Danfoss 02/2009 DKCD
