When in doubt on any safety issue, contact your supervisor or safety coordinator for an explanation. WARNING! KNOW WHERE UTILITIES ARE Observe overhead electrical and other utility lines. Be sure equipment will clear them. When digging, call your local utilities for location of buried utility lines, gas, water, and sewer, as well as any other hazard you may encounter. 76313 5

EQUIPMENT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS TRANSPORTING ALL ATTACHMENTS Travel only with the attachment as close to the ground as possible. Drive slowly over rough ground and on slopes. When driving on public roads use safety lights, reflectors, Slow Moving Vehicle signs etc., to prevent accidents. Check local government regulations that may affect you. Do not drive close to ditches, excavations, etc., cave in could result. When on a slope, keep the load low and proceed with extreme caution. Do not drive ACROSS a steep slope - drive straight up and down. With a LOADED attachment - face the attachment and load uphill. With an EMPTY attachment - face the attachment downhill. Do not smoke when refueling. Allow room in the gas tank for expansion. Wipe up any spilled fuel. Secure cap tightly when done. MAINTAINING ALL ATTACHMENTS Before performing maintenance, lower the attachment to the ground, apply the brakes, turn off the engine, and remove the key. Worn, damaged, or illegible safety decals must be replaced. New safety decals can be ordered from your Frontier Dealer. Never work under a raised attachment. OPERATING ALL ATTACHMENTS Operate only from the operator s station. Always use the seat belt if the prime mover has a ROPS. Do not use a seat belt if there is not ROPS. Check the seat belt daily and replace if frayed or damaged. Specified lift capacities must not be exceeded. See loader specifications. An operator must not use drugs or alcohol, which can change his or her alertness or coordination. An operator taking prescription or over-the-counter drugs should seek medical advice on whether or not he or she can safely operate equipment. Never use any of these attachments for a work platform or personnel carrier. Always check locking pins before tilting or operating any attachment. Do not handle round bales unless loader is equipped with approved bale handling attachments. Do not detach loader from tractor with any of these attachments installed. Equip loader with material bucket when detaching. Stop loader gradually when lowering or lifting loads Before exiting the prime mover, lower the attachment to the ground, apply the brakes, turn off the prime mover s engine, and remove the key. Add the required amount of ballast to tractor. (See Preparing the Tractor section of the Loader Operator s Manual to determine the type and amount of ballast required.) REAR BALLAST BOX WARNING! TRACTOR STABILITY OR LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL MAY RESULT IF BALLAST BOX IS INSTALLED WITHOUT LOADER. DO NOT OPERATE TRACTOR WITH BALLAST BOX UNLESS LOADER IS INSTALLED. 6 76313

EQUIPMENT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS REAR TIRE BALLAST 200/300/400/500 SERIES LOADERS REAR TIRE BALLAST 600/700/00/GLOBAL CARRIER SERIES LOADERS ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONS FOR AP12 & AP13 SERIES PALLET FORKS Secure the load properly. Unsecured loads can fall unexpectedly. Never lift a load with one fork. Keep lifting surface of the forks level at all times. Do not exceed the recommended lifting capacity of any approved fork tines or prime mover. Do not lift round or square bales. Never stack loads on uneven ground. Loads stacked on uneven ground can topple. Do not use the fork tines for prying or any purpose other than lifting. ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONS FOR AB11, AB12, AB13, AB14 & AB15 SERIES BALE SPEARS Park and store this attachment with tines pointed down or against a bale, building or other stable object. Do not use the AB12 series bale spears to lift pallets. The AB11E, AB12E & AB13E series bale spears exceed the lifting capacity of the 300 and the 300X loaders. ONLY mount these attachments onto the 300CX loader or onto the 400 and 500 series loaders. Never stack bales on uneven ground. Loads stacked on uneven ground can topple. Do not handle more bales than your attachment was designed to lift. Be sure stack and load heights do not exceed the lifting capabilities of your loader. Never use tractor or loader to stop a rolling bale. Do not lift two round bales with the 600 series loader. This will exceed the rated lifting capacity of this loader. The AB14 on 600 series loader is for (1) large square bale only. Always spear bales (round or square) with a slight downward motion. Spearing bales with a 5 angle on the spear will allow the bale to be dropped off the spear easier. Be sure stack and load heights do not exceed the lifting capabilities of your loader. 76313 7

SET-UP GENERAL INFORMATION The AP12 & AP13 pallet forks require the installation of the forks and the AB11, AB12, AB13, AB14 and AB15 bale spears and carriages require the installation of the bale spears and stabilizing tines before installing the attachment onto your unit. FORK TINE INSTALLATION It is recommended that the pallet fork frame be supported with a hoist or other suitable device before installing the tines. This will help prevent the frame from tipping and facilitate installation. ITA CLASS II FORK TINES (AP12 Series Pallet Forks): Ensure that the locking assembly on the tine is in the unlocked (UP) position. Place the top of the fork on the top rail in the middle of the frame and then rotate down. PALLET FORK OPERATION AP12 & AP13 SERIES PALLET FORKS Read all Safety Precautions before operating your new attachment. Refer to your machines operator s manual for attachment operation. There are two different pallet fork frames (fixed or floating) available along with two different length fork tines (42 and 4 ). The floating tines and the ITA Class II fixed tines on forks designed for the 200/300/400/500 Series Loaders have a load rating of 3750 lbs. (1700 kg.). The floating tines and the ITA Class II fixed tines on forks designed for the 600/700/00 and Global Carrier Series Loaders have a load rating of 5500 lbs. (245 kg) while the ITA Class III fixed tines on the Category II Global Carrier Series Loaders have a load rating of 10,000 lbs. (4536 kg). 1. Approach the load in such a fashion that the weight will be centered between the fork tines. The heaviest side should be closest to the fork frame and not near the tips of the fork tines. 2. Before lifting make certain the fork tines are completely under the load and level. 3. Lift the load slightly to make sure the load is stable. If load appears unstable, lower and reposition the tines to achieve full stability. 4. Raise the load to the MINIMUM height required for the terrain. 5. During material handling; keep the fork tines level, stop and start loader gradually, slow down before turning and avoid any obstacles, bumps or holes. Check load frequently to ensure stability. Operate the attachment only when properly seated at the operator s station. Any other method could result in serious personal injury or death. Do not exceed the recommended lifting capacity of any approved fork tines or the prime mover. Keep lifting surface of the forks level at all times. Do not use the fork tines for prying or any purpose other than lifting. Do not lift round or square bales. Reduce speed when driving over rough terrain, on a slope, or turning, to avoid overturning the vehicle. Secure the load properly. Unsecured loads can fall unexpectedly. When handling a load, keep the forks as close to the ground as possible. Before exiting the prime mover, lower the pallet forks to the ground, turn off the prime mover s engine, remove the key and apply the brakes. Do not detach loader from tractor with this attachment installed. Equip loader with materials bucket when detaching. ADJUSTING THE FORK TINES With the loader arms lowered and completely rolled back, shut down the power unit, set the parking brake and remove the key. (If tines are still in contact with the ground the loader arms may need to be raised just enough to eliminate contact.) FLOATING FORK TINES (AP13 Series Pallet Forks): Loosen the set screws on the set collars and slide the tines into the desired position making sure that the left and right tine are the same distance from the center of the frame. Tighten set screws to secure the tines in place. 76313 15

PALLET FORK OPERATION AP12 & AP13 SERIES PALLET FORKS ITA CLASS II & ITA CLASS III FORK TINES (AP12 Series Pallet Forks): From the right side of your pallet fork, adjust the position of the right fork tine by turning the knob to the unlock position and sliding the fork tine to the desired location. Turn the knob to lock the fork tine in place. Make sure that the latch has been set into a notch and therefore securing the tine to the frame. Move to the left side of the pallet fork frame and repeat the adjustment procedure to the left fork tine. Make sure that the left tine is the same distance from the center of the frame as the right tine. WARNING! Never exceed the recommended lifting capacity of any approved fork tines or the prime mover. NOTE: Fork tine capacities are pounds per pair at a 24 load center. (The center of gravity of the allowable loads must be applied within the first 24 of the fork tines when measured from the front face of the vertical section of the fork tine out toward the tip of the horizontal section of the fork tine.) 16 76313

BALE SPEAR OPERATION AB11, AB12, AB13 & AB14 SERIES BALE SPEARS Read all Safety Precautions before operating your new attachment. Refer to your machines operator s manual for attachment operation. BALE SPEAR OPERATION AB11, AB12, AB13 & AB14 SERIES BALE SPEARS IMPORTANT: On the AB11, AB12, AND AB14 Bale Spears UP TO SERIAL NUMBER BREAK, check 4 spear nut torque after initial use and periodically thereafter. Retorque as required. Do not operate if spear is not properly secured to the frame. Operate the attachment only when properly seated at the operator s station. Do not handle bales that exceed the lift capacity of your loader. See loader specifications. Use the AB11 & AB13 Bale Spears for round bales only. The AB11E, AB12E & AB13E series bale spears exceed the lifting capacity of the 300 and the 300X loaders. ONLY mount these attachments onto the 300CX loader or onto the 400 and 500 series loaders. Fully pierce center of round bale with spears. Do not scoop round bales with spears. Do not use the AB12 bale spears as a pallet fork. Be sure stack and load heights do not exceed the lifting capabilities of your loader. Do not lift two round bales with the 600 Series loader. This will exceed the rated lifting capacity of this loader. When mounting the AB14 onto a 600 Series loader use for large square bales only. Reduce speed when driving over rough terrain, on a slope, or turning, to avoid overturning the vehicle. When handling bales on a slope, avoid side slope travel whenever possible. Drive up the slope to pick up a bale and then down in reverse. Carry bales as close to the ground as possible. Never try to stop a rolling bale with the tractor or loader. Do not stack bales on uneven ground. Bales stacked on uneven ground can topple. Do not use spears for prying, chaining objects to or lifting inorganic objects. Before exiting the prime mover, lower the bale spear to the ground, turn off the prime mover s engine, remove the key and apply the brakes. Park and store this attachment with the tines pointed down or against a building or other stable object. Do not detach loader from tractor with this attachment installed. Equip loader with materials bucket when detaching. 1 76313

LARGE BALE CARRIAGE OPERATION AB15 LARGE BALE CARRIAGE Read all Safety Precautions before operating your new attachment. Refer to your machines operator s manual for attachment operation. The large bale carriage was designed for handling two (2) large square bales stacked one on top of the other. Although the carriage is designed with two smaller tines at the top to help stabilize the top bale we recommend that the carriage be lifted level with the ground to help prevent the possibility of a bale rolling off of the attachment and back onto the operator. When handling bales, do not make sharp turns, sudden stops or roll the carriage too far back. IMPORTANT: There are two different bale spears available for the AB15 Series Carriages. Be sure to use the appropriate bale spear for your bale handling application. CENTER LINE SPEARING ZONE 3 X 4 X SQUARE BALE OR 4 X 4 X SQUARE BALE 3 X 4 X SQUARE BALE OR 4 X 4 X SQUARE BALE 1. Always spear square bales with a slightly downward motion 1/4 to 1/2 of the way up from the bottom edge of the bale. Spearing bales with a 5 angle on the spears, and lowering the boom as the spear is entering the bale will allow the bale to be dropped off the spears easier. NOTE: Only handle the type and quantity of bales that your attachment was designed to lift. 2. Push the spear(s) into the bale (s) until the bale is against the frame. 3. Raise and roll back bale just high enough to provide ground clearance. NOTE: If bales appear to be unstable, lower the bales, remove the spears and repeat steps 1 & 2 until the bales are secure. Stop and start loader gradually when lowering or lifting loads. Operate the attachment only when properly seated at the operator s station. Do not handle bales that exceed the lift capacity of your loader. See loader specifications. Be sure stack and load heights do not exceed the lifting capabilities of your loader. Never lift more bales than your attachment was design for. Do not stack bales on uneven ground. Bales stacked on uneven ground can topple. Do not use spears for prying, chaining objects to or lifting inorganic objects. Before exiting the prime mover, lower the bale carriage to the ground, turn off the prime mover s engine, remove the key and apply the brakes. MAINTENANCE GENERAL INFORMATION Your attachment was designed to be virtually maintenance free. Very little effort is needed to keep it in top condition. It is, however, important to follow these procedures to get full performance and longevity out of the equipment. IMPORTANT: When replacing parts, use only factory approved replacement parts. Manufacturer will not claim responsibility for use of unapproved parts or accessories and/or other damages as a result of their use. DAILY OR EVERY HOURS OF OPERATION Replace any missing bolts or nuts with approved replacement parts. Visually inspect the machine for worn parts or cracked welds. Repair as necessary. Replace any damaged, illegible or missing decals. See Decal Identification and Replacement DECAL IDENTIFICATION AND REPLACEMENT Decal placement and identification for all of the attachments can be found on the parts diagrams and lists located at the back of this manual. The decals are identified by their part numbers with reductions of the actual decals located on the page. Use this information to order replacements for missing, illegible or damaged deals. When replacing parts with safety signs attached, the safety sign must also be replaced. All Safety Decals are free of charge. Contact your local Frontier dealer for replacements. REPLACING SAFETY SIGNS: 1. Clean the area of application with nonflammable solvent. 2. Wash the same area with soap and water. 3. Allow the surface to fully dry. 4. Remove the backing from the safety sign exposing the adhesive surface. 5. Apply the safety sign to the location shown in the parts diagram. 6. Smooth out any bubbles. Helpful Hints: (1) Decals adhere to a warm surface better than a cold surface. (2) Applying heat (from a hair dryer) will greatly improve your ability to remove a damaged decal before preparing the surface for installation of a new one. MONTHLY OR EVERY 40 HOURS OF OPERATION Check all bolts, nuts and bearings for tightness. Tighten or replace as needed. Clean equipment of dirt, oil, grease, etc. This will assist you in making a visual inspection and help avoid overlooking worn or damaged components. 20 76313
