Vertical Pipe Handling We make the most extensive line of column rackers and fingerboards in the industry. NOV`s parallel column racking system represent the next generation of automated racking systems. These machines provide the most flexible racking configurations and capacities and can be integrated into new build or retrofitted in existing applications ranging from large jack-ups to ultra deep-water floaters. The NOV column racking system sets a new standard for efficient remote operated pipe handling operation while improving safety at drill floor. Fingerboard layouts are based on a parallel racking pattern, which offer large amounts of drill pipe, collars and casing storage capacity. Adjustable casing fingers further enhance the flexibility of this system for deep-water drilling programs.
Vertical Pipe Handling Parallel column racking The HydraRacker is a vertical column racker that handles stands of drill pipe, drill collar, casing and BHA from the fingerboard area to the well centre and vice versa. The column supports the arms and is carried by a lower and upper trolley that provides horizontal travel of the entire unit. A winch suited on the upper part of the column hoist and lower the main arm who carries the load. The main arm operates together with the upper and lower guide arms and securely moves the stand in horizontal direction. The unit may be equipped with Pick Up Elevator (PUE) that moves singles from horizontal to vertical position during stand building operation. Depending on the chosen option and the system layout, it can support offline stand building during drilling operations. The HydraRacker is hydraulic operated and normally remote controlled from the drillers cabin through an automatic and semi-automatic control system. Vertical Pipe Handling Parallel casing building and handling The PRS consists of a vertical column assembly that traverses the rig floor between well center and pipe setback area to support tripping operations. The column rides on a lower drive assembly, which guides and drives the column along a drive track mounted on the rig floor. The upper end of the column is guided on a similar track, which spans the rig. The lower drive assembly turns a shaft in the center of the column that has gears on each end to engage into their respective drive track. Driving timing between the lower and upper portion of the column is achieved through this drive shaft, keeping the column vertically aligned. The PRS uses two arm assembly for guiding and lifting tubular stand and singles. The unit may be equipped with an elevator assembly that moves singles from horizontal to vertical position during stand building operation. The PRS is electric operated and normally remote controlled from the drillers cabin through an automatic and semiautomatic control system.
