RUF-Automobile Gmbh ~ A short history: For more than 60 years the name of RUF has been known within the automotive industry for quality and craftsmanship. Established in 1939 by Alois Ruf, Sr. the company is still situated at the same location in the town of Pfaffenhausen, in southern Germany. The first RUF-enhanced Porsche model made its debut in 1975. Two years later, the turbocharged 911 engine, which was enlarged to 3.3 litres by RUF, offered distinctive performance increases compared to the standard Porsche Turbo model. By 1983, RUF engineering advancements were brought together with the introduction of the RUF BTR. This model, with a 3.4 litre turbo engine of 374 bhp, was available in either narrow-body or turbo-body configuration. The construction of each vehicle began at the bare chassis level, which would become a RUF tradition of hand-made, performance sports cars. By 1987, the newest RUF high-speed sports car, the CTR Yellow Bird received its certification for normal road use. An incredible 469bhp twin-turbo coupe which exceeded the world speed record for production cars on the Nardo racetrack at 342kmh. The same year, RUF became an approved manufacturer with the U.S. authorities for safety and emissions (NHTSA and EPA). RUF have continued to make innovative advancements in many areas of automotive
systems and have become a highly respected name, synonymous with high quality Porsche performance enhancements to the present day. RUF turbor Coupe ~ 06024 Not to be confused simply with an uprated Porsche 993 Turbo, this car 06024 was ordered new from RUF and was built by them from the bare tub, complete with a unique RUF chassis identification number and manufactures homologation. The RUF turbor offered an increase in performance over the standard Porsche 993 twin-turbo from 408bhp to 490 bhp through modifications which included: new camshafts, modified KKK twin turbos, a new exhaust system and a re-mapped Bosch Motronic system. The interior featured RUF sports seats, a smaller steering wheel, RUF green instrument gauges and an unobtrusive, integrated roll-cage. Chassis modifications included: uprated springs and dampers, lowered ride-height, larger antiroll bars to help reduce body roll, all adding to a much sportier feel than the relatively soft, factory 993 Turbo. Suspension modifications were complimented by activecontrol all-wheel drive, an excellent brake system and a suitably high sixth gear, enabling a top speed of 214mph (329kph). These cars were built to order and customer specification from an extensive RUF price list and 06024 was specified in 2005 as follows:
