1. Product description Keula slide valves 1.1 Design The resilient slide valves manufactured in the Keulahütte GmbH can be used in connection with the respective elastomer for the drinking, industrial and sewage water sector (including liquid manure) as well as the gas sector (incl. biogas). The operation is effected both manually and by the actuator. Regarding the flanged slide valves, there are two different face-to-face dimensions GR14 and GR15. The operation of the slide valve is performed using the slide valve key C according to DIN 3223, hand wheel or actuator. 1.2 Design parameters 1.2.1 Housing The housing (1) is made in two corrosion protection versions: a) complete epoxy resin powder coating (EKB) with a layer thickness of at least 250 mm according to guidelines of the GSK Quality Association for the Heavy Duty Corrosion Protection and b) complete enamel according to DIN 51178. 1.2.2 Bonnet The bonnet (2) is an assembly, which is made up of the parts 2.1 to 2.11 (see parts list) and cannot be dismantled. By the use of Teflon-coated bronze sliding discs (2.5) and a special sealing, the spindle bearing is particularly smooth-running, media-free and thus maintenance-free. Using screws (6), the cover is attached to the housing (1) and sealed by the seal (5). 1.2.3 Wedge The wedge (3) consists of a completely rubberised cast body. The all-round rubberised EPDM wedge (3) has two reinforced PTFE guides, which have a very low frictional resistance in the guides in the housing (1) due to the low friction coefficients. 1.3 Actuator For the actuator, the flange connection of the bonnet (2) is designed, according to DIN 5210, in such a way that the combination with all other manufacturer types is possible. The actuator is factory-set, in the CLOSED position, to torque switch and, in the OPEN position, to torque and limit switch. When connecting the electrical connections, the manufacturer s documents and the aforementioned default setting must be observed. Page - 3
1.4 Function The slide valve is actuated using the hand wheel or installation kit for underground installation in the OPEN-CLOSED mode with a torque of MOT = DN in Nm according to DIN EN 1072-2. Intermediate positions for regulation are not permitted. By actuating the installation kit tightly connected to the spindle (2.6) or the hand wheel, the spindle (2.6) and thus the wedge (3) is actuated. By turning counter-clockwise, the slide valve is opened. By turning clockwise, the slide valve is closed. DN PN Actuating torque Turns per stroke (Nm) (OPEN-CLOSED) 40 10/16 30 13-15 50 10/16 30 13-15 65 10/16 50 16-18 80 10/16 50 16-18 100 10/16 80 20-22 125 10/16 80 20-22 150 10/16 90 30-32 200 10/16 160 33-36 250 10/16 170 42-45 300 10/16 180 51-54 400 10/16 250 55-57 The open position is limited by stop of the rubberised wedge (3) elastically at the bonnet (2). In case of reverse rotational direction of the spindle (2.6), the slide valve is closed until the wedge (3) rests on the housing (1) and seals it. 2. Maintenance and assembly instructions slide valves 2.1 Assembly During the installation, it is necessary - after the removal of the protective film or the protective caps - to pay attention to the cleanliness of the connection points (sealing faces, sockets, weld-on ends), and a non-distorted assembly must be ensured. The preferred installation position is horizontal (slide valve bonnet up or down). An installation position where the slide valve bonnet is turned to the right or left to the pipe axis is only possible in case of manual actuation. Flange connection: Socket joint: Weld-on ends: After having inserted a reinforced seal, the screws and nuts must be tightened systematically, circumferentially and always opposite to each other. After having inserted the sealing ring provided with lubricant into the Tyton socket, the spigot end of the subsequent part is inserted using suitable devices. The assembly can be performed by both welding and sliding on KS moulded parts. With regard to welding, the welding process is performed, after cleaning the surface by paring, in accordance Page - 4
with relevant provisions. After a subsequent pressure test, the connection is properly established. During the pressure test, the slide valve can be loaded with the following parameters. - opened 1.5 x PFA - closed 1.1 x PFA (PFA = nominal pressure in bar) 2.2 Maintenance The slide valves are maintenance-free. 3. Physiological safety of non-metallic installation parts The declarations of no objection are available for the non-metallic installation parts used: - Rubber seals, O-rings, wiper ring - Wedge, EPDM rubberised - Epoxy coated (EKB) - Enamel - Lubricant 4.
