EMERSON A GLOBAL NETWORK OF INTERNATIONAL BRANDS Emerson is the name behind the world s most comprehensive range of valves, actuators and associated flow control products. Supplying a host of leading global brands, we work closely with the oil & gas, power generation, mining, chemical, food & beverage and marine industries, to anticipate their needs and exceed their expectations. The Vanessa triple offset valve was the first to provide bidirectional zero leakage* performance, creating a new industry category using a technology not previously available with other standard quarter turn valves. There are now over 300,000 Vanessa valves operating around the world. A strong commitment to maintaining and improving the quality of both product performance and customer service is inherent within our management policy. * Zero leakage means no visible leakage when tested at high pressure with water and low pressure with air according to existing international standards VANESSA
THE NEW VANESSA SERIES 30-RS FOR INCREASED SAFETY IN GENERAL APPLICATIONS THE SERIES 30-RS DELIVERS BIDIRECTIONAL ZERO LEAKAGE IN GENERAL APPLICATIONS, WITH HIGH DURABILITY AND MINIMUM MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS. Available in carbon or stainless steel with a double flanged body, Series 30-RS features the same triple offset design principle used by the Vanessa Series 30,000. However, this new isolation valve addresses the specific needs of general applications in lower pressure classes (Class 10 and 300) and sizes (from NPS 3 to NPS 4 - DN 80 to DN 600). The triple offset design completely eliminates any rubbing action of the sealing elements during the 90 degree rotation, making Series 30-RS extremely easy to operate - the low torque requirement significantly reduces the effort to manually open/ close the valve. At the same time, a safer bolted-on seat allows for true positive isolation when pressure is applied from the shaft side, minimizing the risk of dangerous mechanical failures compared to other bolted seat designs. This design allows the Series 30-RS to achieve zero leakage tightness with improved safety compared to other bolted-on seat triple offset valves (TOVs), providing a competitive solution for premium performance. ENGINEERED FOR VERSATILITY The metal-to-metal torque seating ensures controlled torque over a wider range of fluids and higher temperatures compared to softseated high performance butterfly valves (HPBVs). In addition the rotary design of the Series 30-RS translates into lower footprint & weight, reduced fugitive emissions and longer valve life. The all-metal construction ensures inherent fire-resistance making this valve an extremely versatile solution for general applications typically handled by TOVs and HPBVs, but also by gate, ball and plug valves. TRIPLE OFFSET THE CONCEPT OFFSET The Vanessa valve cone-to-cone sealing mechanism is achieved by quarter turn rotary motion and based on three offsets which eliminate any rubbing throughout the 90 rotation: OFFSET 1 OFFSET 1 The shaft is placed behind the plane of the sealing surface to provide a continuous seat path. OFFSET The shaft is placed to one side of the pipe/valve centerline to allow the displacement of the seal from the seat during the 90 opening. OFFSET 3 The seat and seal cone centerlines are inclined in respect to the pipe/valve centerline. This third offset completely eliminates rubbing. OFFSET 3 SERIES 30-RS SEALING As for all Vanessa triple offset valves, seal rings are easily interchangeable thanks to their self-centering ability and the presence of reference pins that simplify assembly. The use of graphite ensures tightness between seal ring layers and an ideal level of flexibility allowing each metal layer to independently find the optimal seating position. Series 30-RS valves feature a bolted-on seat providing a cost-effective solution for premium performance thanks to a more streamlined and modular manufacturing process. Used on recommended applications, the seat does not require maintenance and is not part of the standard spare part kit. Sealing between seat and body is ensured by a fire-resistant pre-compressed graphite gasket. 11 6 7 8 9 10 3 4 1 KEY 1&6 Bolts &7 Washers 3 Step 4 Seat gasket Seat 8 Disc retainer 9 Seal ring 10 Spiral wound Gasket 11 Disc & Reference Pin 4 VANESSA
SERIES 30-RS A SAFER BOLTED-ON SEAT FOR TRUE POSITIVE ISOLATION Series 30-RS has been designed to handle positive isolation through a safer and more robust seat compared to other bolted-on seat designs. Series 30-RS seats are installed upstream of the preferred sealing direction and are positively retained through a step integral to the body in order to eliminate the risk of: Seat bolting failure - bolts do not retain pressure or withstand most of the torque-generated load Leakage between the seat and gasket - the seat is pushed on its gasket by pressure and torque The seat material is a hard faced stainless steel, designed to ensure consistent thermal expansion. The newly designed bolted seat does not affect the downstream flange Raised Face (RF) area, ensuring the highest integrity of the flange joints. 1 1 3 KEY 1 Raised face Step 3 Resulting force 4 Unbalanced pressure (torque) Preferred sealing direction when positive isolation is required 4 3 FEATURES 1 The one-piece shaft ensures high pressure containment safety/ maximum torque seating integrity. 1 The Series 30-RS is designed to handle the risk of shaft extrusion both internally and externally in total compliance with API 609. 3 External emissions are minimized with safer packing. 3 4 4 Robust bearings and thrust bearings are designed to withstand high pressure and minimize galling. Open/close indicators & flange hole spot facing facilitate quick installation and maximize piping joint integrity. 6 The Series 30-RS does not feature pins that would reduce the shaft resistant section. 4 6 TRIPLE OFFSET VALVES
