ROADS AUTHORITY Overview Established under Act No.17 of 2000 Management of National Road Network Performance of any other function assigned to it by or under any law, relating to Road Traffic and Road Transportation. Manage the vehicle and driver testing functions in the country. Management of the National Register for motor vehicles and drivers Overload Control 3

Division: Transport Information and Regulatory Services Mission: To regulate Road Transport, Vehicle and Driver Testing and Licensing for quality mobility and road safety. VEHICLE AND DRIVER TESTING AND LICENCING We have 33 Registering Authorities 21 approved for vehicle and driver testing and licensing 12 are for vehicle registration and license renewals only Local and regional authorities involved in the operating of registering authorities and TI&RS manage the agreements Function of vehicle and driver testing and licensing is under the custodianship of Ministry of Works and Transport but assigned to the Roads Authority No Private Testing Stations in Namibia

Future of Roadworthiness Testing Namibia Testing equipment enhancements Camera integration with vehicle testing equipment for proof that the vehicle was tested. Exploring the integration of handheld devices for the testing of vehicles Test equipment upgrade (Replace hydraulic with electronic components) Continuous calibration of testing equipment 17
