Executive Summary Per the request of the City of Loveland, Namasté Solar has developed several system options to maximize the available land at the solar site. These options are all 20% preliminary designs and will require additional design due diligence before full submittal packages can be presented. The two options below maintain the same Ground Cover Ratio (GCR) of 33% as the original design, which maximizes the production factor of the single axis tracker array, but utilize modules from either Hanwha QCells or LG Electronics. The GCR is ultimately determined by the row to row spacing of the system and lower GCRs result in less production loss due to early morning and late afternoon shading. System Name DC) AC) Module Inverters AC to DC Inverter Ratio Production Factor (kwh/kw/yr) Year One Production (kwh) Original Design at 33% GCR 2.995 2.20 Hanwha QPLUS L-G4 325 Watt One (1) SMA 2200 Central 1.36 1,866 5,589,900 Hanwha MAX at 33% GCR 3.374 3.00 Hanwha QPLUS L-G4 330 Watt Four (4) Solectria XTM 750 1.13 1,908 6,437,439 LG Solar MAX at 33% GCR 3.513 3.00 LG Mono X 340 Watt Four (4) Solectria XTM 750 1.17 1,927 6,769,320 In addition, Namasté Solar developed an initial design for an array that increases the GCR to 40%. While this approach results in a reduction to the production factor of ~2.2% compared to a 33% GCR system, the overall capacity of the system is significantly larger. System Name DC) AC) Module Inverters AC to DC Inverter Ratio Production Factor (kwh/kw/yr) Year One Production (kwh) Hanwha MAX at 40% GCR 4.021 3.34 Hanwha QPLUS L-G4 330 Watt Two (2) Power Xpert 1670 1.2 1,867 7,507,917 Project Cost Breakdowns System Name DC) AC) EPC Cost Cost per DC Watt Original Design at 33% GCR 2.995 2.20 $ 5,100,000 $ 1.703 Hanwha MAX at 33% GCR 3.374 3.00 $ 5,673,722 $ 1.682 LG Solar MAX at 33% GCR 3.513 3.00 $ 5,921,668 $ 1.686 System Name DC) AC) AC to DC Inverter Ratio Cost per DC Watt Hanwha MAX at 40% GCR 4.021 3.34 $ 6,564,249 $ 1.632 Inverter Solutions The original system utilized a single inverter and transformer. In maximizing the array at the 33% GCR, we ve opted for two Solectria 1.5MW inverter stations, each of which are comprised of two Solectria XTM 750 kw inverters and a single 1500kVa transformer. 2 P a g e
Solectria Renewables, LLC was established in January 2005 with corporate offices (including manufacturing and design of its three-phase central inverters) in Lawrence, Massachusetts. It was a spinoff from Solectria Corporation, an electric and hybrid vehicle company which was founded by Anita Worden and James Worden in 1989, to focus solely on the development and sales of grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) inverters. Solectria has transitioned its name to Yaskawa - Solectria Solar after being acquired by Yaskawa America, Inc. in 2014. Yaskawa. Solectria Solar is the 2nd largest commercial inverter manufacturer in the U.S and their products include 3.8 to 750 kw inverters, string combiners and web-based monitoring for all size solar systems. Solectria is backed by over 100 years of power electronics and inverter experience. Solectria Warranty 10-year Inverter warranty For the maximum array at the 40% GCR, we opted for two Eaton Power Xpert 1670 kw inverters. The Eaton Power Xpert 1670 kw inverters are the largest in their utility-scale class product line. A robust, reliable, efficient and fault-tolerant design minimizes the plant levelized cost of electricity, while meeting stringent grid requirements. A bankable, trustworthy partner with more than 100 years of experience in the electrical space, Eaton brings a solid and proven product portfolio of world-class engineering and manufacturing. A robust and diversified balance sheet guarantees that warranty and financial commitments will be honored for the long term. Eaton also offers turnkey solutions and balance of system equipment, making it a one-stop shop for designers and developers. Eaton Warranty 10-year Inverter warranty Module Options Founded in 1952, Hanwha is a global leader in a broad range of businesses spanning manufacturing & construction, finance, and services & leisure. They are a FORTUNE Global 500 company and the 9th largest business group in Korea, comprising 52 domestic affiliates and global 146 networks. Hanwha Q CELLS is the world s largest producer of photovoltaics, boasting annual cell production of 3.28GW and is one of the most trusted names in the global solar industry, with top-quality solar products and services. Hanwha Q CELLS features cutting edge solar cell technologies and maintains state-of-the-art research and development capabilities. Its products have been independently tested and verified by the rigorous and independent quality assurance program of the German certification institute, VDE. Hanwha Q CELLS operates its own VDE-certified testing laboratory to test products under extreme conditions such as hail showers and desert heat. Q CELLS Warranty 12-year product warranty 25-year linear performance guaranty With more than 50 years of experience as a global pioneer in electronics technology, LG Electronics stands ready to harness the power of the sun for you. Backed by 25 years of intense research and development far surpassing industry standards, LG Solar's photovoltaic modules are uniquely designed to offer the superior quality, field tested performance, durability and reliability customers the world over have come to expect from LG. 3 P a g e
LG modules feature the following credentials: Improved 12 year product warranty and 83.6% linear 25 year production guarantee Peace of mind offered by the bankability of the LG company Vertical integration allows for tight supply chain management and control of quality of all materials and process steps. o LG builds its own cells and modules in our factory in South Korea o LG designs, builds, installs, and maintains its own manufacturing equipment, resulting in superior quality control 100% EL (x-ray) testing is performed four times during the cell and module manufacturing process. This ensures elimination of physical defects and micro-cracks. Dual-sided cells, allowing for more output during low light conditions Zero light induced degradation (LID) through NeON2 technology, as verified by third party testing Of the 13 modules tested by Fraunhofer Center for Potential Induced Degradation (PID loss of output when high voltage is applied in hot and humid conditions), LG s module was 1 of the 4 modules that showed zero degradation Hot spot stability (panel experiences reverse voltage due to obstructions, like a leaf, that may be stuck to a panel, causing partial shading) Flexibility with inverter configurations, including transformer-less inverter compatibility, and more efficient string sizing saves our customers money. Irradiance shows the LG produces more energy in low light conditions. When the sunlight is less strong in winter, LG will perform better. LG has the world's first UL and TUV certified test lab = an expedited certification process LG s Field Failure Rate in 2013-2014 was 50ppm (or 0.05%) LG Warranty 12-year product warranty 25-year linear performance guaranty Operations and Maintenance With a larger system size and multiple inverters the Operations and Maintenance cost for the project will increase.
