Product data ydro 0 G - X ydro 0 G - X Grundfos ydro 0 G - X booster sets consist of 2 to 4 identical Grundfos CR ums mounted in arallel on a common base frame and a control cabinet with motor rotection and integrated CS 0 controller. Pums are automatically oerated according to system demand by means of ressure switches (one for each um). The setting of the ressure switches have to be within the otimal erformance area of each um model. ydro 0 G - X booster sets are sulied as comlete, reassembled and tested systems including suction and discharge manifolds, isolating valves, non-return valves, ressure gauge and ressure switches. A ydro 0 G - X booster set with one um is also available. The booster set is assembled with main mechanical comonents. owever, the control cabinet is simler and does not incororate the CS 0. To ensure stable oeration the booster set must be fitted with a suitable diahragm tank. The size of the diahragm tank can be calculated according to the section "Diahragm tank selection" at age 34. The dimensions may vary following technological imrovements to the comonents and/or materials used. Construction ydro 0 G - X is built u on a common base frame. The ums are fixed to the base frame by means of bolts. The control cabinet is fixed to the base frame by means of a stand. A suction manifold is mounted on the suction side of the ums. An isolating valve and non-return valve are mounted between the suction manifold and the individual ums. The non-return valve may be mounted on the discharge side at request. A discharge manifold is mounted on the discharge side of the ums. An isolating valve is mounted between the discharge manifold and the individual ums. Installation The ydro 0 G - X booster unit has to be installed in a room rotected from freezing and that is roerly ventilated in order to ensure adequate cooling of the ums. The booster must be ositioned so as to leave sufficient free room in front and at the sides of it for testing and maintenance and it must be ositioned on a flat and even surface, for examle on concrete flooring or foundation base. Make sure, in any case, that any ossible waterhammers will not have damaging effects on the integrity of the unit. The ies connected to the booster must be adequately sized. In order to avoid resonance or mechanical stress due to incorrect alignment, exansion joints must be installed both on the discharge and on the suction manifold, if any. It is always necessary to install suorts for the ies on the discharge and suction sides of the unit, so that the weight of the iing does not come to bear on the manifolds or on the ums. Fig. 6 2 1. Diahragm tank ydro 0 G-X Diahragm tank selection To ensure stable oeration, the ydro 0 G - X booster set must be installed in combination with an adequate diahragm tank. The size of the obligatory diahragm tank can be calculated by means of the followong formula: V = Tank volume [litres] Q = Mean flow [m 3 /h] = Difference between cut-in and cut-out ressure Cut-in = V = Q --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0 ( 1 + ( cut in) + ) -- 1 4 n k max Cut-in ressure (lowest) [bar] n max = Max. number of starts/stos er hour k = Constant for diahragm tank re-charge ressure: k = 0.9 The diahragm tank re-charge ressure is set to 0.9 times the lowest cut-in ressure. The diahram tank may also be selected on the basis of the below tables in which the following values have been used: Motors u to and including 3.0 kw: n = to Motors above 3.0 kw: n = 10 to Diff. between cut-in and cut-out: = 1.5 [bar] Grundfos ums and motors are not subject to any articular limitations as they are tested u to start/ stos er hour. owever when dimensioning the diahragm tank volume the following arameters may also be considered: maximum number of start/stos er hour allowed by local regulations maximum number of start/stos er hour described by the system designer temerature and ventilation conditions available sace for diahragm tank installation.
