Press Release KEBA AG Linz, 14 June 2018 KEBA at the Power2Drive 2018: The world of e-mobility in your hands From June 20 to 22, 2018, the global energy industry will be meeting in Munich at the "The Smarter E" trade fair. The Power2Drive trade fair, which takes place under this roof, is dedicated to the topic of electromobility. As one of the world's top manufacturers of intelligent charging infrastructure solutions, KEBA is taking part in Hall C1, Stand 410 for the first time. Energy management of the future Electromobility will have its greatest potential if the charging infrastructure offers opportunities for connecting with alternative energies. The future of energy supply lies in solar energy, more precisely in self-generated PV electricity and intelligent energy management. Here are two major trends: on the one hand away from fossil fuels towards renewable energies and on the other a "decentralization" in the energy supply, i.e. the use of selfgenerated electricity. Due to the price development for stationary electricity storage, it is becoming more and more interesting for private customers to use solar energy with photovoltaic systems and to feed the produced energy into the electric car via intelligent controls in the smart home, for example. The electric car is after all the largest consumer in a household and doubles the energy consumption of a household per year. A control of the energy flows in the house is particularly interesting under this aspect. As the battery capacity of electric cars and their charging power continues to increase, intelligently controlled charging becomes more important and necessary. Depending on the energy yield of the photovoltaic system and the consumption of the rest of the house the EV can be charged in an energy-efficient way in a smart home.
It is precisely this cross-sectoral energy solution that The smarter E presents as an innovation platform for the new energy world with its four parallel energy trade fairs. Experience the "KEBA Energy World" The Austrian automation company, which is celebrating its 50 th anniversary this year, will present exciting solutions for every use case at its 80 m² stand 410 in hall C1. Visitors can also virtually immerse themselves in the "KEBA Energy World" and experience in a playful way, which challenges arise when loading in different application scenarios and how KEBA counteracts them with a lot of know-how, intelligence and ingenious, technical subtleties. Safe and easy charging in the private sector In the private sector, it is especially important when charging electric vehicles that a charging station is used, which protects against overheating. If the charging station can be moreover easily integrated into smart homes like KEBA's KeContact P30, self-consumption optimized charging, e.g. depending on the photovoltaic system is enabled. This results in the ideal combination of photovoltaics, energy management, charging station and electric car. Intelligent charging with load management in the semi-public area In parking garages, fleets, shopping malls or airports - the so-called semi-public areas - intelligent load management is becoming increasingly important. Of central importance here is that the available amount of energy is evenly distributed among the electric cars to be charged. Such "master-slave" charging links are easily made possible with KEBA Wallboxes - with one KeContact P30 (x-series) controlling up to 15 other KeContact P30s (c-series). Billing of charging current in the public area In the public sector, i.e. when charging stations are installed for example along the road, the usage-related billing of charging current is essential. In order to meet the requirements for consumption- and usage-dependent charging of charging current in the future, an MIDcertified energy meter is necessary. At KEBA, no additional components are needed because the entire Wallbox KeContact P30 is an MID-certified meter. The measurement results can thus be used for the billing of energy.
Electromobility is booming The boom in electromobility and the general market growth is also noticeable in KEBA's steadily increasing demand: the Linz-based technology company sold more than 34,000 wallboxes in the past fiscal year alone. They are developed and produced exclusively at the location in Linz, Upper Austria and sold worldwide. 50th anniversary and record growth After 50 years of company history, KEBA now celebrates its 2018 birthday. In the past financial year (April 2017 to March 2018), the KEBA Group generated sales of 253.6 million. This corresponds to a sales growth of 31.5% and the highest sales in the company's 50-year history. New organization form On the many years of company success and record growth, the company is by no means resting. Instead, KEBA is working on new strategies in order to prepare itself for the future. "At the present time, it is particularly important to be able to react as quickly as possible to the market, in a very agile way," explains Gerhard Luftensteiner, CEO of KEBA AG. "The innovation cycles are getting shorter, the speed is increasing. Digitization brings with it changes and disruptions that must be exploited; the predictability decreases, the world becomes more volatile and ambiguous. " In order to remain successful in this changing environment, the company from Linz has reorganized itself and taken steps towards a new organization. "The ability to act agile is very important to us, as is a very flat, market-oriented organization that relies on a high level of personal responsibility," explains Gerhard Luftensteiner about the new form of organization that has been developed at KEBA in the last two years and been ready for almost a year. "We look into the future with confidence because we know that we are well prepared for the challenges ahead."
KEBA and electromobility KEBA has been active in electromobility since 2009. Already at the beginning, the Austrian automation company profited from the know-how of the security technology and the area of payment solutions in order to meet the different requirements of electromobility. In the meantime, KEBA has sold more than 65,000 charging stations worldwide. The KeContact P30 wallbox has become a core product - it's an intelligent e-mobility solution that already meets the demands of the future for a highly available, smart charging infrastructure with numerous additional features such as intelligent load management. www.keba.com/emobility About KEBA KEBA AG was founded in 1968 and is an internationally successful electronics company with headquarters in Linz (Austria) and offices worldwide.
