1. SCOPE: 1.1 Cleaning, Surface Preparation and Painting Requirements for Underwater Hull. 1.2 RISK STATEMENT: 1.2.1 Risk for installation. If proper surface preparation and application procedures are not adhered to, coating system failure can occur within 3-6 months. 1.2.2 Risk for curing. 7.14 UNDERWATER HULL REPAIRS: 7.14.1 Repairs Made To Paint Within Manufacturer's Overcoating Time Period: 7.14.1.1 Case 1: Mechanical damage extends through the anti-fouling and both anti-corrosion coating systems to the substrate. 7.14.1.2 Surface shall be prepared to SSPC-SP-11 Power Tool Cleaning. The prepared surface shall be feathered into the surrounding intact paint, creating a smooth transition. 7.14.1.3 Prepared surface area shall be solvent wiped to clean. 7.14.1.4 Surfaces shall be dry and free from all contamination prior to application of anti-corrosion and anti-fouling 7.14.1.5 Hand brush, or in larger areas airless spray the anti-corrosion and anti-fouling coating systems IAW Ref. 2.c 7.14.1.6 Allow for proper drying time after the application of each coat per the manufacturer's instructions (including 7.14.1.7 Case 2: Mechanical damage extends through the anti-fouling coating system and into the first anti-corrosion coat but leaves the substrate undisturbed. 7.14.1.8 Damaged area in the first corrosion coat shall be solvent wiped to clean. 7.14.1.9 Surfaces shall be dry and free from all contamination prior to application of anti-corrosion and anti-fouling 7.14.1.10 Hand brush, or in larger areas airless spray the anti-corrosion and anti-fouling coating systems IAW Ref. 2.c 7.14.1.11 Allow for proper drying time after the application of each coat per the manufacturer's instructions (including 7.14.1.12 Case 3: Mechanical damage extends through the anti-fouling coating system into the second corrosion coat but leaves the first corrosion coat and the substrate undisturbed. 7.14.1.13 Damaged area in the second corrosion coat shall be solvent wiped to clean. 7.14.1.14 Surfaces shall be dry and free from all contamination prior to application of anti-corrosion and anti-fouling 7.14.1.15 Hand brush, or in larger areas airless spray the anti-corrosion and anti-fouling coating systems IAW Ref. 2.c 7.14.1.16 Allow for proper drying time after the application of each coat per the manufacturer's instructions (including 7.14.1.17 Case 4: Mechanical damage extends through the second and third anti-fouling coats and into the first antifouling coat but leaves the first/second anti-corrosion coats intact and the substrate undisturbed. 7.14.1.18 Damaged area in the first anti-fouling coat shall be solvent wiped to clean. 7.14.1.19 Surfaces shall be dry and free from all contamination prior to application of anti-fouling coating system. 7.14.1.20 Hand brush, or in larger areas airless spray the anti-corrosion and anti-fouling coating systems IAW Ref. 2.c 7.14.1.21 Allow for proper drying time after the application of each coat per the manufacturer's instructions (including Underwater Hull PPI 3

PAINT ONLY REACTIVATED PAINT SURFACES. 7.15.1.1 Case 1: Mechanical damage extends through the anti-fouling and both anti-corrosion coating systems to the substrate 7.15.1.2 Surface shall be prepared to SSPC-SP-11 Power Tool Cleaning.
