2. SAFETY BATCO - GRAIN CONVEYOR S-DRIVE 55-100 2.2. ASSEMBLY SAFETY 1300 P / 1500 P SERIES Important: YOU are responsible for the SAFE use and maintenance of your equipment. YOU must ensure that you and anyone else who is going to work around the equipment understands all procedures and related SAFETY information contained in this manual. Remember, YOU are the key to safety. Good safety practices not only protect you, but also the people around you. Make these practices a working part of your safety program. Below are general instructions that apply to all safety practices. Any instructions specific to a certain safety practice (e.g., Operational Safety), can be found in the appropriate section. Always read the complete instructional sections and not just these safety summaries before doing anything with the equipment. It is the equipment owner, operator, and maintenance personnel's responsibility to read and understand ALL safety instructions, safety decals, and manuals and follow them when assembling, operating, or maintaining the equipment. All accidents can be avoided. Equipment owners must give instructions and review the information initially and annually with all personnel before allowing them to operate this product. Untrained users/operators expose themselves and bystanders to possible serious injury or death. Use this equipment for its intended purposes only. Do not modify the equipment in any way without written permission from the manufacturer. Unauthorized modification may impair the function and/or safety, and could affect the life of the equipment. Any unauthorized modification of the equipment voids the warranty. Do not allow any unauthorized person in the work area. 2.2. ASSEMBLY SAFETY Read and understand the instructions to get to know the sub-assemblies and hardware that make up the equipment before preceding to assemble the product. Do not take chances with safety. The components are large, heavy, and can be hard to handle. Always use the proper tools, stands, jacks, and hoists for the job. Read and understand assembly instructions before proceeding to assemble the product. Always have two or more people assembling the equipment. Because of the weight, do not attempt assembly alone. 2.3. SAFETY DECALS Keep safety decals clean and legible at all times. Replace safety decals that are missing or have become illegible. See decal location figures that follow. Replaced parts must display the same decal(s) as the original part. Safety decals are available from your distributor, dealer, or factory. 8 P1512118 R2

BATCO - GRAIN CONVEYOR S-DRIVE 55-100 2. SAFETY 1300 P / 1500 P SERIES 2.3. SAFETY DECALS 2.3.1. DECAL INSTALLATION 1. Decal area must be clean and dry, with a temperature above 50 F (10 C). 2. BATCO - GRAIN CONVEYOR S-DRIVE 55-100 3. ASSEMBLY 1300 P / 1500 P SERIES 3.1. GENERAL 3. Assembly WARNING Before continuing, ensure you have read and understand the relevant information in the safety section. Safety information is provided to help prevent serious injury, death, or property damage. Important: Before starting the assembly of your new grain conveyor, please read the following instructions carefully and familiarize yourself with all the sub-assemblies and hardware making up the grain conveyor. Ensure that all parts are on hand and arrange them for easy access. Assembly should be carried out in a large open area with a level surface. Do not take chances with safety. The components are large, heavy, and can be hard to handle. Be sure to use the proper tools, stands, jacks, and hoists for the job. These instructions are written on the assumption that two or more people will be available for the assembly procedure. Because of the weight, it is unwise to attempt assembly of the conveyor alone. The Grain Conveyors are available in various combinations of lengths. In most instances, the following instructions will apply to all conveyor combinations. Where the assembly information for a particular set-up varies from a given step, additional instructions are included, indicated by an arrow at the appropriate point in the text. 3.1. GENERAL Note: 1. Ensure the assembly area has a firm or hard surface and is free of debris. Be sure it is large enough to allow access to all sides when the components are being assembled. 2. If assembling inside a building, be sure the ceiling is at least 16 (5 m) high and 12-1/2 (4 m) wide to provide clearance if installing the undercarriage. 3. Bring all the tools, blocks, stands, jacks, and hoists to the assembly area before starting. Refer to the tube drawing attached to the packing list for layout and further information. 4. The following tools and equipment may be required to assemble the machine: 2-3 pipe stands 2 saw horses (1200 lb/544.3 kg) 1 standard socket set 2 wrench sets 1 torque wrench 1 drill with 5/16 bit and 3/16 bit 2 standard 25 (7.6 m) tape measures 1 tape measure (100 /30.5 m) 1 ratchet strap 2 c-clamps or vise grips 1 fish tape (100 /30.5 m) P1512118 R2 13

COMPONENT LOCATIONS Important: Important: Note: Always ensure that the hopper remains level during the attachment of all components that bolt to the conveyor tubing. Use a tape measure to mark out component locations that bolt to the tube. Mark locations on the top side of the tube. See section 4.2. on page 60 or the parts manual, for measurements and component locations. Be sure to select the proper schematic. The dimensions change for each machine depending on the drive option selected. Incorrect placement of the components affects machine balance and can cause a heavy or light intake. Refer to sub-sections for the description of each component used in the assembly of the conveyor. 3.3.2. DRIVE INSTALLATION Note: Note: The s-drive comes pre-assembled when delivered from the factory. 1. Locate the brackets on the tube for the s-drive, then attach to conveyor with 7/16 x 1 bolts (3) and locknuts (4)(Figure 3.6). Note the orientation of the Figure 3.6. 3. ASSEMBLY BATCO - GRAIN CONVEYOR S-DRIVE 55-100 3.3. ASSEMBLY 1300 P / 1500 P SERIES 10. Use take-up bolts to set belt tension. Measure to be sure both sides are set at the same position (Figure 3.20). 11. Tighten pinch roller bolts (both sides of s-drive) until head of bolt contacts the pinch pipe. 12. Re-attach s-drive bottom guard and s-drive hopper belt guard if applicable. Figure 3.20 Note: See operation manual to set tracking and belt tension. Hopper and spout rollers must always be positioned to provide maximum adjusting capability when operating. 3.3.8. WEATHER GUARD MOUNT BAR ASSEMBLY To complete the weather guard assembly, mount bars with guiding rollers and guide blocks must always be installed closest to the hopper and closest to the spout. Between them, the mount bars are to be alternated every five feet starting with a cross bar, followed by a guiding roller bracket, another cross bar, then a roller bracket. These are repeated until all brackets and cross bars have been installed. Two roller brackets can be placed five feet apart (length of one weather guard) as can happen on some lenghs of conveyors, however two cross bar brackets should never be placed one after the other. The following instructions detail out this procedure, however an experienced assembler can follow the guidelines above. Important: 1. See Figure 3.13 for a basic diagram of Weather Guard Assembly. 2. Fasten weather guard mount bars to the weather guards with carriage bolts and locknuts. See Table 3.8 for locations. There are three different types of weather guard mount bracket kits included for this conveyor: the Cross Bar Bracket Kit (G), Roller Bracket Kit (E), and Guiding Roller Bracket Kit (H). See below for descriptions of each. See Table 3.8 for locations. The letters in the table indicate which bracket should be installed in each location from the hopper up to the spout. 26 P1512118 R2

CONVEYOR PRODUCT CHART The following table indicates the maximum angle a conveyor can move grain. To roughly determine conveyor angle, use angle guide on right. Stand the manual (vertically) on conveyor s-drive or tube and hold a string with a weight attached to end against the top of this page. Weighted end of string will fall between degree lines, and from this the approximate angle of the conveyor can be determined.
