1 1 MOUNTING YOUR IN-WALL DIMMER SWITCH Instructions Warnings! To reduce the risk of serious injury or death, turn power OFF before installing this product. Confirm that the intended installation location conforms to the following requirements: -Wall box must meet box size requirements specified by the NEC (National Electric Code.) -Installation will be completed according to national and local codes. -The load being controlled by the device does not exceed 800 W. 2. To avoid SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH, turn OFF the local electrical power feeding the switch location. To disconnect power, turn off the breaker or remove the fuse from the fuse box. Verify that there is no power present using a voltage meter or test light. 3. If you are replacing an existing switch, note which wires are the Ground, Circuit Feed (HOT), Load (Switch Leg), and Neutral, when removing the existing switch. 4. Prepare the wires for connection by stripping off the insulation 5/8 of an inch. 5. Connect the ZigBee HA Dimmer Switch Wires using the supplied wire nuts. Connect GREEN wire from switch to GROUND Connect BLACK wire from switch to HOT FEED Connect WHITE wire from switch to NEUTRAL Connect RED wire from switch to LOAD Page 03
Warnings! If a direct short is created between the RED wire and GROUND or NEUTRAL, the Dimmer Switch will be damaged and unusable. Fold wires and push them neatly into the switch box. Align the Dimmer Switch in the switch box with the air gap switch oriented at the bottom of the Dimmer Switch. Using the supplied screws, secure the Dimmer Switch in the switch box. 7. Verify that the Air Gap switch is fully pushed in. Then turn ON circuit breaker or replace the fuse. 8. If the Dimmer Switch is installed properly the top LED will blink slowly for 100 seconds signifying that the device is working as a independent local device. 9. You should now be able to control the load by tapping the top button. 2 1 CONNECTING TO SMARTEE Adding to Zigbee Network To join the In-Wall Dimmer Switch to the Smartee, follow these instructions: 1- Click on the Add Device on your App. 2-If the LED on the switch is blinking (scanning for a network to join) and the switch is within range of Smartee ZigBee HA network it will join the network. 3. If the LED is not blinking, press and hold the top button for two seconds. The LED should start blinking and scanning for a network to join. If the Dimmer Switch has not been captured onto a ZigBee HA network, it s LED will blink slowly upon power up for 100 seconds. Once it s top button is pressed the LED will indicate the Dimmer Switch Load ON/OFF status. If the load is connected properly the light should toggle states with every button tap. If after following these steps the In-Wall Dimmer Switch will not join the Smartee Zigbee network, factory default your switch and try again. To factory default your switch do as follows: 1. Disconnect power by pulling out the airgap switch. 2. While pushing the top button, power the switch on by pushing in the airgap switch. 3. After 2 seconds the status LED will turn ON. 4. Once the status LED is ON, release the button. Verify that the switch is wired correctly and powered up. The LED's should light up on the face plate. Button controlling Load: -Tap the button to turn the light ON/OFF. -Push and Hold the button to Dim the light. Binding Instructions One *Load Device can have multiple *Keypads bound to it. In order to bind a keypad to a load please follow the following steps: 1. Locate the Load Device and quickly tap the button 6 times, and on the 6th tap push and hold the button down for one second. The LED should start fast blinking. 2. Once the Led is fast blinking, tap the button once. 3. You now have one minute to locate the Keypad you wish to bind to the Load. 4. Once located, quickly tap the button 6 times, and on the 6th tap push and hold the button down for one second. The LED should start fast blinking. 5. Once the LED is fast blinking briefly push and hold the button. To test if this is working, tap the button on the Keypap device and it should toggle the Load. To bind another keypad to the Load, repeat steps 1-5 for the other Keypad with the same Load. To unbind a keypad from the Load, repeat steps 1-5 for the Keypad you wish to unbind. *Load Device = Device that is actually connected to the light via the Red Wire. *Keypad = Device that only has power and neutral and the red wire is capped off.
