The air port will be used for pressurizing the tank while spraying, and bleeding the tank for refill by uncoupling the quick disconnect. Paint tank agitator The paint tank shall be equipped with a hand operated crank type, agitator which shall consist of a 5/8 diameter shaft extending through the paint tank cover. The shaft extending into the paint tank shall contain two 16 gauge paddles, each 4 x 10 ¾ welded on an angle to the shaft. A V leather type packing shall seal the shaft to the paint tank cover and be held in place with an adjustable packing nut. The crank shall be make from 3/8 diameter steel rod and be easily accessible to the striper operator. Stainless Steel (Waterbase capability) All components that come in contact with the paint and cleaning systems will be stainless steel. Paint Gun and Paint Gun Mount The paint gun shall be a Binks Model 2001 Internal Mix, with a Binks Number 68SS nozzle, 709SS air cap, and 568SS needle. Line definition is controlled by a jet tube attached to the spray gun with a spring. It shall be easily removed for cleaning. The paint gun shall be supported on a 1 diameter adjustable rod which extends either to the right hand or left hand side of the machine and parallel to the ground surface. - 2 -
The rod shall be held in position with a self-clamping bushing. The paint gun shall be mounted on a ½ diameter gun post which is adjustable both laterally and pivotable about the support rod. The paint gun can be positioned vertically for road surface painting or to any position to horizontal for curb painting. The gun is adjustable in the vertical position to obtain line widths from 2 to 6. Operation of the paint gun shall be controlled by means of an air cylinder and 3-way air valve. The air valve shall be located on the right handle bar and be operated with the operator s thumb by pushing down on the valve lever. The valve will automatically shut off when thumb pressure is released. Cleaning Solution System A 1 gallon cleaning solution tank shall be provided for supplying a cleaning solution to the paint gun through the atomizing hose. The tank shall be fastened to the handlebars. The cleaning solution will be fed under pressure to the outlet of the paint tank and to the 3-way valve equipped with a lever type handle for tip flush. Controls Two separate adjustable, lockable, self-relieving, non-corrosive air regulators shall be provided, each equipped with an air pressure gauge. The regulators shall be mounted in a console within full view of the operator. The first regulator shall be used to control the air pressure to the paint supply tank, the second to control atomizing air to the paint gun; each line shall be equipped with a check valve to prevent back flow of material from the tank or gun into the air regulators. The paint line to the gun shall be equipped with a shut-off valve for servicing the paint gun. A preset air safety relief valve shall be installed in the air manifold to relieve air pressure exceeding 80 PSI. Line Guide A line guide shall be attached to the gun support rod.
