Two Row Harvesters WM 6500 WM 8500 WM 8500 L INNOVATIONS FOR YOUR SUCCESS

The harvesters are built in the newly constructed production facility in Pönning, Bavaria using state-oftheart production methods. Quality made in Germany already begins with the choice of suppliers. WM Kartoffeltechnik only uses high quality components from reputable manufacturers in its machines, as this is the only way to guarantee functional safety and an efficient spare parts supply. Modern machine tools guarantee a consistent and high level of product quality. And, of course, our factory and our suppliers factories are certified in accordance with DIN ISO 9001. the design ensures excellent visibility with regard to all operating units and optimum accessibility to all areas of the machine. No compromises have been made when it comes to the specification of the new WM 6500 and WM 8500. Many useful features are already included on the basic machine - from the hydraulic support stand to the standard axle steering, right through to the 3-speed gear system. The potato harvesters from WM Kartoffeltechnik guarantee a leadingedge approach to agricultural land use, which is required by the policies of today. During the development of the new WM 6500 and WM 8500 these requirements have been met to the full: Minimum machine weight and largevolume tyres ensure that the machines can be easily pulled in the field and therefore require less traction power. Soil compaction is also avoided. From the very start of development, WM Kartoffeltechnik harvesters have been designed with the comfort of the operating personnel clearly in mind. And if you opt for the comfort package, then you ll not only be equipping your machine with practical optional extras, but the package price also offers great Savings. The advantages of the open design are clearly in evidence not only on the virtually horizontal sorting platform, but also during the daily servicing work: The WM two-row harvester When developing the new single-row harvesters from WM Kartoffeltechnik, the objectives we set ourselves were exceptionally high. We have been extremely successful in achieving these objectives to the full. The end result is a machine with truly outstanding features and these are outlined in detail in the following Pages.

INNOVATIONS FOR YOUR SUCCESS When it comes to producing food there can be no compromises. Quality is the absolute priority. And the same applies to potatoes - the potatoes you produce The harvesting process is therefore of particular importance. The demands placed on a potato harvester are considerable: firstly, it has to operate carefully to avoid potato damage. It must therefore be able to guarantee a consistent and high level of crop quality in all conditions. At the same time, as a customer you expect a high performance because it is crucial that the potatoes are harvested within the shortest time possible, particularly with regard to storage. In addition to these points, a whole range of other factors must be taken into consideration when developing a new machine today: the quality of the machine itself the functional safety in all conditions environmental aspects with regard to fuel consumption per ton of potatoes harvested or minimum ground pressure when driving in the field the ergonomic design of the work position for sorting personnel low servicing and repair costs a guaranteed spare parts supply We are proud to present the WM 6500 and WM 8500 - specially developed to meet these demanding requirements. During the development of these new single-row harvesters, WM Kartoffeltechnik placed great importance in meeting all aspects of the above criteria. Furthermore, the modular design of these machines means that approximately 70% of the components are common to both the WM single-row and two-row harvesters.

Two exceptional models one concept We offer a complete range of machines, so you can rely on us to provide expert advice. Find out from this brochure which two-row harvester is the right machine for you. Superior performance The WM 8500 has set new standards in two-row potato har vesters. The Deutsche Landwirtschaftsgesellschaft (DLG) was so impressed with the total concept that it awarded the design a silver medal for innovation. With this prize-winning new generation of harvesters from WM Kartoffeltechnik, successful harvesting is guaranteed. Superior productivity means that you will be able to reduce your costs per hectare. The weight of the WM 8500 has been kept to an absolute minimum and the machine is therefore able to achieve a load factor of 1. This saves on fuel. The 8.5 t capacity hopper allows you to achieve new d i m e n s i o n s i n e f f i c i e n c y. U n p r o d u c t i v e s e c o n d a r y processing times are therefore minimized. This means longer runs, fewer interruptions for unloading and therefore maximum productivity. The ultimate two-row potato harvester! With the new WM 6500 you will be able to achieve maximum quality combined with high performance. The total concept of the harvester is based on high throughput to ensure maximum return on your investment. The harvester offers outstanding visibility, manoeuvrability and optimum specification. The new two-row potato harvester gives a truly impressive performance even with green haulm and firmly attached tubers.

The new WM two-row harvester transfer system Non-stop digging means greater profit. Conventional unloading machines can face difficulties when it comes to diggin at the beginning of a row, digging in difficult positions, or opening up the field. With the WM 8500 L these operations can all be carried out with ease. The increased efficiency achieved means cost savings for you. WM 8500 L two-row harvesters. With an impressive hopper size of 5,500 kg, the new 8500 L has the capacity of a conventional hopper machine. What's more, the hopper is equipped with a special unloading belt, instead of a normal arm, to create a state-of-the-art transfer system. The WM 8500 L therefore combines the benefits of a hopper machine with those of a transfer system to create a new future-oriented concept. The WM modular system enables the engineers to use the platform of the tried and tested WM 8500 hopper machine. The complete machine incl. hopper f i l l i n g b e l t t h e r e f o r e r e m a i n s unchanged. The transfer elevator incl. intermediate hopper is fitted onto the existing hopper carrier. A C D B Unloading technology A) The hopper filling belt is automatically lowered until it reaches the padded hopper floor. B) A second sensor ensures optimum control of delivery into the elevator. C) Crop carriers with a flexible meshed surface and co-moving sidewalls, e n s u r e p a r t i c u l a r l y g e n t l e transportation of the valuable crop. D) The results are impressive. The usable elevator width of 1,600 mm and the deep design of the carrying pockets enable a high delivery rate to be achieved even at slow speeds. At the same time, quick emptying of the full hopper is also guaranteed at a rate which corresponds to that of a normal moving floor hopper.

Open design high performance guaranteed Whether you decide on one of our hopper machines such as the new efficient WM 6500, or the WM 8500 with its enormous 8,500 kg capacity hopper for meeting the highest performance demands, one thing's for certain - you'll find our machines hard to beat! If your ideal choice is the WM 8500 L, with a 5.5 t capacity intermediate hopper and highly efficient transfer system, then this latest innovation offering NON-STOP lifting will open up a whole new dimension for trailed two-row harvesters. Side-loading transfer system The ingenious folding system of the transfer arm enables gentle and therefore extremely efficient trailer loading at a discharge height of between 1.5m and 4.2 m. The extension arm can reach deep down into the trailer. Even with a tractor width of 3m, smooth transfer is possible during side loading. The automatic unloading system also makes the driver's task even easier. The results are impressive! Here is an example of time savings and increased efficiency, which could also b e similarly a pplied to your operations. With a yield of 45 t per ha, 6.7 kg of potatoes can be harvested per m digging distance (with a 75 cm row width). This means: a digging distance of more than 800 m is possible without a trailer travelling alongside. At a digging speed of 4.5 km/h this equates to a "buffer" of more than 10 minutes until the next trailer is required. In other words, instead of waiting for the next trailer, you will have an additional digging time of up to 1.5 hrs at your disposal in an 8-hour digging day.

The Machine in Detail Central tube frame design, hitch, tyres, levelling mechanism, axle return, lateral control system Potato harvesters must be able to withstand high loads and an extremely sturdy design is therefore essential. Nevertheless the machine still needs to be as light and manoeuvrable as possible. The central tube frame design provides the ideal solution by combining both these criteria. The arrangement of the drawbar ensures that the harvester pulls in a straight manner, the large wheelbase ensures optimum weight distribution between the tractor and the harvester and prevents lateral pull. In the case of the new WM 4500 and WM 6000, attachment of the clevis Optional extras available for both models include an automatic lateral B) control system via the ridge roller (or alternatively via a furrow sensor), a hydraulic levelling mechanism for the B C axle (also available as an option with automatic function) C) and an automatic axle return. The trailed ridge pick-up with optimised ridge roller, large haulm intake rollers and springloaded, trailed disk coulters ensures problem-free harvesting even in adverse conditions. A can only take place below the power takeoff shaft as the loading is greater with this modesl and this improves the traction of the tractor. An 80mm ball coupling is also available A) as an optional extra and this provides the ideal connection between pulling vehicle and harvester. A hitch drawbar with a 50mm eye has been specially developed for countries which use hitch attachment. All harvesters are equipped with a compressed air braking system or an optional hydraulic braking system and are permitted for speeds of 40 km/h. The machines can be equipped with different sizes of tyres, ranging from the 600/55-26.5 in the case of the WM 6500, through to 800/45-30.5 for both models.

Pickup The trailed ridge pickup has excellent manoeuvrability which optimizes ground following even in sloping conditions. The digging depth is adjusted centrally for both rows. The laterally attached concave cylinders and the flat support mechanism ensure excellent visibility of the sieving channel from the tractor seat. The new automatic lateral control operates directly on the ridge roller for precise positioning. The WM two-row harvester has been designed without the need for doubled circulating belts and is therefore suitable for high performance even under extreme conditions. In contrast to conventional potato harvesters, the division of the work stages also means less wear and lower servicing costs. Haulm separation The robust haulm web achieves optimum haulm separation with its variable mesh widths. Eight haulm strippers can be individually adjusted to suit the respective conditions. The harvester offers optimum suitability, regardless of whether it is dealing with green haulm or firmly attached tubers. The haulm separating system featured in the WM two-row potato harvester has been designed to achieve maximum performance and reliability. The active rear wall, another WM innovation, increases the performance of the widemeshed haulm web and removes short foliage before it can cause problems. Late separated tubers can still be carefully guided back into the harvest flow. The crop is firstly sieved and then separated. The crop flows over a sieving web with a large surface area and then onto a robust wide-meshed haulm web. Digging web with tread bar drive As an option, the sieving web is also available in a divided design with a digging web. This provides additional sieving and the low fall height ensures that the crop is handled with particular care. All sieving webs are supplied with a web lock as standard and have a drive which is independent of the spacings

Preseparation The wide longitudinal hedgehog belt performs the preseparation function together with the double deflector rollers. The hydraulically driven double deflector rollers transport the crop carefully onto the transverse hedgehog belt to the main separating system. The height of the deflector rollers - and therefore the effectiveness of the preseparation system - can be easily adjusted from the sorting platform. As an optional extra, a spiral roller can be installed as a lower deflector roller and this improves transportation of the crop e.g. when working on a slope or when harvesting carrots. optional extra and this can also be equipped with an automatic adjustment as a further o p t i o n. H e r e, t h e c o m p l e t e longitudinal/transverse hedgehog belt unit will always be automatically readjusted to the initial setting. The main separating system Depending on the harvesting conditions, a variety of separating units are available for the main separating system. The rotary finger comb with 3 rows of fingers is fitted as standard and these carefully convey the tubers onto the rising belt.his finger comb is also hydraulically driven and the height and position of this comb can be easily adjusted in relation to the transverse hedgehog belt from the sorting platform. The highest level of separation is achieved using the A) double rotary finger comb, whereby 4 rows of fingers separate the tubers from the other residual material and guide them to the rising belt. Both separating sections are equipped with fingers and have separate speed adjustment. This system ensures that you achieve the very best separating results every time. Both the longitudinal and the transverse belts have V profile sieving bars as standard. This design ensures superior separating performance as well as excellent self-cleaning characteristics. The inclination adjustment for the longitudinal and transverse hedgehog belts is interconnected in order to always achieve an optimum transfer from longitudinal to transverse hedgehog belt. In the case of the standard specification, adjustment is mechanical. Hydraulic adjustment is available as an The new dirt removal belt removes all the unwanted material that has already been separated. Soil, clods, stones and fine haulm are ejected to the side without any additional work.

3-speed gear box Three speeds are available for the sieving webs and the haulm web. These can be adjusted by means of the standard 3-speed gear box. Additional agitators for intensive sieving Three different agitators are available to provide additional sieving in the sieving channel. The machines are fitted as standard with a mechanical agitator. A rubber triangle agitator is also available as an optional extra in the front third (for machines without digging web) and in the rear third. The agitators are controlled in each case by means of a hand lever on the side of the machine and there is also an optional extra which allows the front or middle agitator to be controlled from the operator panel via hydraulic control. As an alternative to mechanical agitation, a hydraulically driven eccentric carrier roller can be installed in the rear area of the sieving channel below the sieving web belt. Can you change from potatoes to onions in just 15 minutes? The variable front section from WM now makes this possible! Speed is no problem. The "variable front section" ensures flexibility. With the utmost speed, you can uncouple the complete pickup from the rest of the sieving channel and drive up to the second pickup without any problem - regardless of whether you have been harvesting potatoes with the direct pickup, carrots with the fork share or onions with the digging shaft. The work is made even easier by transport cradles which are compatible with forklifts. Brushes-stoneseparartion In stony soil conditions, separation can take place by means of a brush belt instead of the finger comb. For stone separation, The possibility of operating both rows of brushes at different speeds further optimises stone separation.

Steering In addition to the main control box in the tractor, there are two more controls The A) Joystick comes as standard and is used to control the unloading of the hopper. But also axle and lateral steering is possible from there. The optional control set B) on the left side is provided to make the most used functions more comfortable for the driver. A With the two joysticks you have everything under control. Comfort The WM harvesters are not only famous for their simple and sophisticated design, they also feature special optional extras which can offer the driver and the sorting personnel even more comfort. A video system with a 7 colour monitor is available for monitoring the machine and its functions. With a total of 6 defined camera positions you will have everything in view, starting from the sieving channel right through to the trailer camera for emptying the hopper. A maximum of 4 cameras can be connected to one Monitor. Working headlights for the sieving channel and the sorting belt ensure that work can also be carried out safely and efficiently at night. B C Perfection right down to the very last detail At WM Kartoffeltechnik we believe that even the smallest details can make a big difference. The new WM single-row harvesters use a central wiring harness for the entire electrical system, whereby everything is already preassembled. Subsequent modifications of components can therefore be carried out quickly. All wiring is installed in corrugated tubes and this provides optimum protection against external influences. The hydraulics on the harvester require a minimum oil quantity of 50 l/min from the tractor at a pressure of 170 bar, a single selective control valve with free return port is adequate. On the harvester side, the hydraulic system is capable of load sensing, this not only saves on fuel but also reduces wear on the drive components. The sorting platform The sorting web and the trash web are arranged in a virtually horizontal manner and this provides a comfortable sorting platform for two people on each side. The sorting personnel work at a distance from the separating unit in a low-dust area. All important areas of the harvester are clearly visibly from the sorting platform, all important functions are directly accessible via the operating control B) on the sorting platform. If the trash is to be led back for further separation, e.g. in cloddy conditions, the return flap is simply tilted. In this way the trash is transported once again onto the sieving web. If the stones and trash are not to be deposited onto the field then a stone/ trash collecting hopper can be attached. Emptying is controlled at the end of the field via the control panel in the tractor cab. A) Adjustment of sorting takes place via axial displacement of the centre roller. C) Rubber disc s with a speciel curled shape are transporting the tubers very gentle. The rising belt Another innovation from WM Kartoffeltechnik is the rising belt. In order to convey the tubers after separation on the shortest route to the sorting web, the rising belt has been designed as a pocket D) conveyor. Between the rising belt and the sorting web there is a rubberised star roller, which ensures gentle transfer of the crop and therefore practically eliminates any potato damage in this area. The pocket conveyor allows the crop to be transported at a steep incline and this has enabled the WM engineers to create a sorting area which is virtually horizontal. B C Um das Verlesepersonal zu entlasten und kleinfallende Ware vor dem manuellen Verlesen auszusortieren, können als Option nach der Überleitwalze Sortierwalzen eingebaut werden. As an aid to the sorting personnel, and in order to sort out small potatoes, three sorting rollers can be installed after the transfer roller as an optional extra. A D
