2015 LATE MODEL SPORTSMAN RULES NASCAR license will be required for any competition during a NASCAR weekly racing series sanctioned race meet. The fee will be held from the payoff Scanners / radio communications from the race tower to the race car is mandatory. Radios will be available for rent from the handicappers shack. Penalty - car will be placed last in your heat or feature for not having the radio. Transponders are required for ALL practice, heats and features. Rentals are available from the handicappers shack. 1. ELIGIBLE MODELS: A. All makes & models. Four passenger American made hardtops only. No convertibles, station wagons, or trucks. 2. BODIES: A. All cars must have a minimum of 104" wheelbase. No shortening, widening or lengthening of bodies will be permitted. Bodies and frames may be interchanged from year and model. B. Any stock steel or stock appearing aftermarket manufactured bodies are permitted. Stock appearing body panels made of 22-gauge steel or.040" aluminum, fiberglass, plastic will be allowed. Bodies must meet Tech visual approval. C. Interior of car must be completely enclosed in respect to engine compartment, track surface, tires, and rear fuel cell compartment. Front foot firewall, rear firewall needs to be at a minimum height of 18" and constructed of 18 gauge steel. The driveshaft vertical panel needs to have a minimum height of 9" and be constructed of 18 gauge steel. A 1/8" thick steel floor plate under the seat is highly recommended. Other interior panels may be constructed of 22 gauge steel or.040" aluminum. A full width dash is required. D. Body must be in the stock position, stock height as measured from the frame to the top of the roof. Minimum roof height is 47" measured 10" back of front windshield and when measured 10" forward of rear window, a maximum allowance of 2 difference from front of roof to rear of roof with the driver in car. Front grills or bumper covers are required. Body must be centered on chassis. No offsetting of bodies off of frame. E. Cars must have full front windshields and rear windows constructed of Lexan material. F. Cars must have full front and rear stock appearing bumpers. Bumpers may be reinforced, but the reinforcement must be behind bumpers and not exposed. Front and rear center hooks are required for towing. Aftermarket bumper covers like those used for Pro Stocks and Busch cars are allowed, but must be trimmed to give a stock appearances/height. Rear bumper covers/tail light panels may not have holes drilled in them and must be fully intact. 3

G. Rub rails are allowed between the two tires and back quarter panel only. Bars must be mounted flush to the doors, and secured to the cage as close to the centerline of the axle as possible. Rub rails may be made of 1 X 1" square tubing with the ends cut at a 45 angle sloping into the body. Ends must be sealed and any sharp edges must be removed or they will need to be removed until corrected. One rub rail per car side. H. No letters or three digit numbers track reserves the right to reassign numbers to avoid duplication. Scoring will be by number only. Cars registered during the previous season (car must race a minimum of 3 races) will have first refusal of numbers up until, but no later than 3:00 pm on January 31st of the current racing season. All others will be on a first come basis. Numbers only will be assigned, no letters, such as 50X, will be available or issued no exceptions during regular season. I. No front spoilers or deflectors, etc. of any kind permitted. Maximum Rear spoiler allowed will be 6" x 60" with a maximum top height no higher than 41" when measured from the top of spoiler to the ground with driver in car. Spoiler must be of single blade style only. No boxing. Older less aerodynamic body cars (ie.1988 Monte Carlo) may use a larger rear spoiler 8"x60". J. Air cleaner must fit completely under the hood. No air boxes or forced air induction allowed. 3. FRAMES: A. Stock front clips may be interchanged. Xing of the chassis is also permitted. From steering box to the front bumper the frame may be replaced with tubing, must meet tech approval. Unibody cars (Camaros and Firebirds) may have sub-frame connectors. Stock frame rails and rear clips may be replaced with square or rectangular tubing, not less than 10 inch perimeter measured from the rearmost point of the stock front clip. Front and rear clips must remain centered in chassis. No offsets. No tube front clips. No rack and pinion steering. B. Coil spring cars may use stock four point or use a solid three point rear suspension. No rubber biscuit or spring loaded arms/bars permitted. C. Front spindles may be interchanged, but must remain stock as manufactured (OEM) with spindles that are one piece cast. D. Coil Spring cars may change lower control arms, must be stock, Exp. Camaro lower control arms. Stock (OEM) or stock type aftermarket tubular upper control arms are allowed. Adjustable upper control arms are also permitted, but must be in a typical A frame configuration with a chassis mounting width of 6 or 7¾. 12 Left Hander style tab Mounts with a Clevis-camber/caster tube rod end are allowed. No extended radius rod configurations outside of 12 allowed. Upper control arm frame mounts must retain a stock type configuration as in stock mounts, flat plates, slide mounts and left hander tab style mounts are allowed. Upper A-frame mounts must retain a 6 or 7¾ bolt pattern or a 12 left hander tab mount style. The intent of opening up this rule is to allow Howe stock clips with upper slide mounts and Left Hander stock clips with tab mounts. This rule is not designed to open up to what is typically allowed on a Pro stock. Mono Ball Joints are allowed on upper control arms. Only stock ball joints on lower control arms. No Mono Ball 4 Joints allowed on Lower Control Arms.

E. Outer tie rod ends may be stock or replaced with steel heim joints. F. Sway bar must be stock or an aftermarket stock configuration (one piece bar, stock appearing only). Sway bar must mount under the front frame rail and attach/work off of the lower control arms. A Maximum of 1⅜ diameter sway bar will be allowed. G. Aftermarket springs with a minimum 5" outside diameter allowed. Jacking bolts are allowed. No coil over springs or other coil over components permitted. H. Stock or stock replacement aftermarket center link allowed with adjustable ends for changing bump steer (adjustable pitman arm & idler arm). Not allowed are any center links with adjustments for the inner tie rod ends with inserts, slotted or multiple hole locations. I. Shocks will comply with the following: Only one shock per wheel allowed. No take-apart shocks allowed. Shock price must not exceed $120.00 dollars. No shock bump stops allowed. Only a steel body shock with no external valves or Schrader valves. Suspension travel cannot be restricted (binding) by the shock absorbers or their mounting location by causing the shock shaft to bind. No reworking of shock absorbers, it must be same as purchased. Shocks must fully compress and fully extend the entire length of the shock shaft without any type of mechanical assistance. Shafts must be solid, no sleeves or spacers that will limit travel into or out of the main shock body shaft. No internal locking mechanisms allowed. Shocks will be checked-inspected; Shaft must compress within a reasonable amount of time and effort. There may/will be competitor shock comparisons done. This will be done at random at a given time by a tech official; Notice will be given to teams to allow time to accomplish this without interfering into your practice, heats or feature. J. All other front end suspension components must remain stock (OEM), with the only exceptions mentioned above. No shock or suspension bump stops allowed. K. Engine must be located so that front spark plug hole is even with or ahead of a line when projected between both front upper ball joints, Engine to be centered in chassis. Minimum crankshaft height is 11 inches when measured from center of crankshaft to the ground. L. The maximum tread width allowed will be 66", measured from centerline of the wheels. The overall width from outside to outside of the wheel rim bead flanges shall not exceed 74 inches when measured with Lee s tread width gage. M. Minimum Chassis height is 3 inches when measured from frame to ground with driver in car after qualifiers and Feature Races. 5

4. CAGE: A. All cars must have a four (4) point roll cage constructed of 1¾ outside diameter X.095 wall steel tubing. The roll cage shall consist of 4 vertical upright bars connected at the top on all sides and shall be adequately cross braced. The base of the upright members shall be solidly welded to the frame of the car. Four curved door bars on the left side and three curved or straight door bars on the right side are mandatory. The roll cage members must closely conform to window/door/roof contour and not be readily apparent when car is viewed from side. Offset cages are not allowed. Roll bars within the driver's reach must be padded. Lee Tech inspectors must approve all roll cages. (See Diagram) Roll cages: 5. DRIVE TRAIN: A. Only stock clutch and flywheel assemblies allowed. No aluminum flywheels or pressure plates allowed. Steel scatter shields are mandatory. A minimum 2" inspection hole must be cut in the bottom of the scatter shield for inspection. B. Any stock (OEM) manual transmission may be used with all gears in working order from the driver's compartment. Automatic transmissions must have a torque converter. C. Steel drive shaft only and it must be painted white. Required 2 safety loops with a minimum of 1/8" thick, 2" wide steel safety loop. Must be installed in front of the rear "U" joint and the second loop must be installed in back of the front "U" joint. D. Cars may have any passenger type rear end with any gear ratio. Rear ends must be locked. No quick change, aluminum, black gold track, triple track, Detroit lockers, or any other device that would be considered a type of traction controlled. 9 inch Ford rear ends allowed, also full floating rear ends are allowed. E. All cars must have four-wheel brakes in working order. Stock (OEM) brake components only with single piston calipers. No aluminum calipers or aftermarket brake components of any kind allowed. No drilling or lightening of brake rotors or calipers. Aftermarket master cylinders and pedals are allowed. 6. WHEELS AND TIRES: A. Maximum 8" wide steel wheels only when measured from bead to bead. Minimum weight of 18lbs per wheel. No aluminum, magnesium, or lightweight wheels allowed. B. Lee track tires must be used. C. No tire-softening compound of any kind permitted. D. Tire slips must be turned in at the drivers meeting; failure to do so will place you at the rear of the feature starting lineup. See race meet tire procedures in General Rules for requirements. 6

7. ENGINE: A. No V-6 engines allowed. ENGINE DISPLACEMENTS: A. GM: 350 cubic inch displacement block plus a maximum of.040 overbore per cylinder. B. Ford: 351 cubic inch displacement block plus a maximum of.040 overbore per cylinder. C. Chrysler: 340 or 360 cubic inch displacement blocks plus a maximum of 040 overbore per cylinder. ENGINE TYPE A A. Any stock cast iron production head may be used including cast iron vortec and cast iron bowtie. No dart, turbo, Chrysler W 2 or any other aftermarket performance head allowed, also not allowed are the large port vortec bowtie heads P/N: 25534371. B. Flat tappet camshafts only. No roller cams. A maximum.450 cam lift when measured at the valve. C. Flat top or dish top pistons only. Pistons cannot protrude above block deck. D. No excessive machining of heads, block, or intake manifold permitted. E. No angle milling of heads. F. Stock ignition or stock replacement ignition. No magnetos or MSD ignitions allowed. G. Edelbrock 2101 or 2116 intake manifolds are the only 2 intakes allowed. H. Carburetor allowed is a single stock 4412 Holley 2bbl. The only alterations allowed are the removal of the choke butterfly along with its shaft. Enlargement of idle holes in the throttle butterflies are allowed. Only paper air filter elements allowed. No Carburetor or intake manifold air leaks. Carburetor must meet all of Lee Tech Tools/Gages.. I. A stock unaltered Canton 85050 or 85060 Spacer/Adapter with a maximum of two.070 inch gaskets allowed. J. No electric fuel pumps allowed. K. All cars must be equipped with a working starter. 7

ENGINE TYPE B The option engine will be the GM ZZ4 as manufactured by GM Part # 88958603. No alterations, modifications or changes of internal parts, heads or intake allowed. Heads must retain 1.94 intake valves and 1.50 exhaust valves, aluminum heads as built and supplied by GM on engine. Compression ratio as built is 10.1-1 and must not be altered. Any modifications other than a racing oil pan and oil cooler are not allowed. Any additional changes or additions are considered illegal. Consult with Tech before making any changes. The LRA Board will suspend anyone with an illegal ZZ4 engine from all racing activities at Lee USA Speedway until review. After review by the Lee Tech Staff and the LRA board, weight adjustments may be made to this division. All competitors must have the GM ZZ4 engine sealed and provide a dyno sheet to the Lee USA Speedway tech officials prior to their first night of competition to use the 650 CFM Carburetor. This must be done by Butler & McMasters only. GM ZZ4 Part# 88958603, Allowed up to 650 CFM Carburetor. GM P/N: 88958602 allowed up to 650 CFM Carburetor and are also allowed to deduct 100lbs off of the total car weight. Estimate cost new for this engine is approximately $3,500. 8. FUEL CELLS: A. Fuel cells are mandatory and must be securely mounted behind the rear axle and between the frame rails. The fuel cell must have a minimum of 8" clearance at its lowest points with driver in car. Must have a check ball on fuel vent. A fuel shutoff must be located within driver's reach or you must have an inline positive flow valve or fuel safe. B. Fuel cells must be protected by a rear skid bar. This bar must extend at least 1" below the lowest point of the fuel cell. 9. FUEL INCENTIVE PROGRAM: A. The speedway welcomes New England Racing Fuels & Sunoco. We endorse New England Racing Fuels as part of our sponsorship program, where you, the racer can reap the benefits. You must be a customer and purchase fuel at the speedway; you then will become part of their Fuel Incentive Program and have a chance to be rewarded at the season year end banquet. We want to welcome John Holland and New England Racing Fuels to our family of sponsors to where you can be the beneficiary. 10. FUEL: A. It is not mandatory to purchase all Sunoco Fuel from New England Racing Fuels at the Speedway. Petroleum based automotive gasoline is the only fuel allowed. No alcohol, No methanol, No nitrous oxide or any other fuel additive may be used. See Fuel Incentive Program above 9 (A). 8

11. MUFFLERS: A. Mufflers are mandatory. Mufflers must be in good working condition and securely fastened. Exhaust must exit under car with the outlet pipes angled down towards the track surface not aimed to the side. All cars must meet mandated 96 db. B. No headers allowed that require cutting a hole through the firewalls or door panels. Only street type under chassis headers allowed. 12. WEIGHT: A. All cars must meet the weight requirement. Minimum total weight allowed is 2,900lbs with a maximum 55% left side with driver immediately after heats and feature. Driver must sit in an upright position in seat with helmet on or on lap, hands on steering wheel. B. Crate engine with cast iron heads can subtract 100Ibs, but must weigh a minimum of 2,800lbs with a maximum 55% left side with driver immediately after heats and feature. Driver must sit in an upright position in seat with helmet on or on lap, hands on steering wheel. GM Crate engine P/N: 88958602 C. All added lead must be painted white and identified with your car number on it. Lead must be bolted to the chassis (minimum 3/8 bolts) or in a closed weight box. D. No mechanical or electrical devices for shifting weight will be permitted inside driver's compartment. No hydraulic or electronic weight shifting devices are permitted at all. No weight adjusters are permitted during any heat or feature race. No shifting of any weight such as water, lead, etc. by any means at any time. 13. DRIVER'S COMPARTMENT: Approved aluminum racing seat with a five point belt harness. Hardware must be properly mounted to the cage and a crotch belt is highly recommended. Belts must be dated no more than 3 years old. Minimum 3 belts and harnesses are mandatory. A. All cars must have an approved SFI window net properly installed in the left front window opening and must have a quick release. No string type window nets allowed. B. All cars must have an ignition kill switch and fire extinguisher located within the reach of the driver while strapped in seat. C. Battery must be securely mounted outside of the driver's compartment and protected by a nonconductive cover. D. Head and neck restraints are highly recommended and should be used. 9

14. SCANNERS ARE MANDATORY: A. Each Driver will be equipped with a scanner with a single frequency to be programmed to (464.600). This frequency will be the Lee Race director and scoring for alignment purposes. You may not receive any radio communication from any other parties other than from a Lee official. Failure to respond to a command from the race director will result in being Black Flagged. My scanner is not working is not an excuse. 15. TRANSPONDERS: A. All cars must be equipped with a transponder and must be in operation at all times during practice, heats, and features. To purchase a transponder you can contact AMB: www.amb-it.com or Phone #678-816-4000. B. Transponder must be behind rear wheel see attached Diagram (Page# 12). 16. NASCAR LICENSE: A. A NASCAR License is required for ALL drivers in our weekly NASCAR Whelen All- American Series which includes the Small Block Super Modifieds, Late Model Sportsman, Hobby Stock and the Ironman Divisions. It is highly recommended for all pit crew members entering the pit area to hold a current NASCAR License so you too can acquire additional insurance coverage. Only License holders will receive a discount on pit tickets. B. Any driver under the age of 18 must complete the necessary releases (NASCAR License Form & Addendum A Form which needs to be signed by a parent or legal guardian in order to get a NASCAR license.) D. Learners Permit License - (Tan Form): Drivers between the ages of 14 & 15 years old in the Late Model Sportsman, Hobby Stock and Ironman Divisions only can get a Learners Permit License. A driver applying for a Learners Permit License must also have an Addendum A Form signed by a parent or legal guardian in order to get a NASCAR license. E. This NASCAR license needs to be purchased prior to the first point race at the beginning of the racing season in order to receive all your points earned. (Points will not start to accumulate until you have purchased the NASCAR License. Any points earned before being licensed will not count.) To receive the special awards, point fund or sponsor money you must attend the annual banquet which is held on the 3 rd. weekend of November. 17. Transponder Mounting Location The transponder must be mounted in compliance with the diagrams provided below. It must be mounted in a vertical position and open to the track surface. The center of the transponder must be six (6) inches back from the rear edge of the rear end tube. Also the bottom most part of the transponder should not be below the bottom most part of frame. The clearance from the racetrack to the bottom of the transponder should be as close to a maximum of twelve (12) inches as possible.
