DAH Left Hand Hose Inlet Kit 98-54-1 Instruction Sheet For Use with 700 SERIES DAH Dilution at Hand Blend Centers BASIC KIT FUNCTION: The left hand hose inlet kit has two main functions. The kit can be used to convert the standard DAH blend center to: A left hand water supply inlet system An external connection system between two DAH blend centers TOOLS NEEDED FOR INSTALLING KIT: Pliers Medium Phillips Screwdriver Adjustable Wrench Kit Contents Item Description Qty A Hose Adapter 1 B Female Swivel Garden Hose Coupler 1 C Male Garden Hose Plug 1 D Strainer Washer 1 E Rubber Washer 1 F O-Ring 1 Installing Kit as a Left Hand Water Supply Inlet System Note: The instructions are written as if you are adding the kit to a new DAH blend center. 1. Remove cover and selector knob from the new blend center as necessary. 2. Remove lever return spring located in the upper section of the unit. (Note: A unit with the remote fill hose does not have a return spring.) 3. Remove the screw and nylon washer retaining the bottom end of the sliding lever to the base. You may need to remove the proportioner so you can get access to the screw. (Note: Selector valve or elbow needs to be disassembled from proportioner before the proportioner can be removed). (Note: A unit with the remote fill hose does not utilize the lever or the screw and nylon washer, therefore the proportioner should not be removed.) Remove the valve body mounting screws from the base. 4. Carefully slide the valve sub from the base and set it on a clean and flat surface or table. (Note: Be careful not to separate the parts within the valve sub otherwise the o-rings will need to be removed and reassembled to avoid water leakage. If the parts become separated, the o-rings (new or used o-ring is acceptable) will be reassembled in step 6.) Maintain groove alignment otherwise o-rings may become disassembled and could result in water leakage) I-832 Pg. 1 of 6 Rev. A-28920
5. The water inlet stem positioned on the right side of the valve sub will be used and can remain assembled. Carefully disassemble the cap and o-ring by pulling the cap off of the valve sub. (Note: The o-ring will normally stay inside of the cap. The cap and o-ring will not be used in the final valve sub.) Remove cap & o-ring Do not remove water inlet stem SUB 6. Assemble the new o-ring against the shoulder of the male boss feature on the valve body. (Note: Lube o-ring with water and use twisting motion when assembling components together for ease of.) Carefully assemble the valve body by sliding the male boss feature with the o-ring already assembled into the female feature on the hose adapter. (Note: The radial position of the hose adapter is important for reassembling the valve sub to the base. The external anti-rotation feature on the hose adapter must be facing the base. The radial position of the water inlet stem is not critical. However, when assembling the valve sub to the unit, the grooves on both mating parts must align for sliding the complete valve sub into the bases. Be careful so the hose adapter and inlet stem doesn t slide apart too far or o-ring will need to be reassembled to insure a proper seal.) Slide the valve sub against the base until the mounting pads on the valve body rest against the raised bosses in the base. The lever should slide up and down freely when installed properly. (Note: If unit is equipped with the lever, the lower slot in the lever must be positioned over the small raised boss in the base for the valve sub to seat properly.) 8. Install the screw and nylon washer retaining the bottom end of the sliding lever to the base if equipped with lever. Install the valve body mounting screws into the base. Tighten all of these screws but do not overtighten. Install the lever return spring between the lever and base. Reinstall the proportioner if it was removed. (2 per valve body) RETURN NYLON AND PROPORTIONER 9. Install the male garden hose plug in the female swivel garden hose coupling and tighten by hand. Install the flat rubber washer in one side of the double female swivel garden hose coupler and the strainer washer on the other side. Now install the double female swivel garden hose coupler to the hose adapter as shown and tighten by hand. (Note: May need to tighten the swivel garden hose couplings another ¼ turn with pliers but Do Not Overtighten. Use an adjustable wrench on the hose adapter when tightening with tools.) Carefully install the new blend center per the DAH Owners Manual (I-776). 11. Now, slowly turn on the water supply and check for any leaks. (Note: See section labeled Trouble Shooting on page 13 of the DAH Owners Manual (I-776) if any continual leaks are visible.) I-832 Pg. 3 of 6
Installing Kit as an External Connection System between 2 DAH Blend Centers Note: The instructions are written as if you are adding a new DAH blend to an existing DAH blend center. 1. Shut off and disconnect water supply line from blend center. If equipped with a bucket or remote fill outlet hose, carefully remove the free end of the outlet hose hanging on the cover and set it in a safe place where it won t get damaged. 2. Remove cover and selector knob from wall mounted blend center as necessary. 3. Remove outlet and chemical supply hoses as necessary. (Note: Don t disconnect the remote fill hose.) 4. Remove lever return spring located in the upper section of the unit. (Note: Unit with the remote fill hose does not have a return spring.) 5. Remove the screw and nylon washer retaining the bottom end of the sliding lever to the base. You may need to remove the proportioner so you can get access to the screw. (Note: Selector valve or elbow needs to be disassembled from proportioner before the proportioner can be removed). (Note: Unit with the remote fill hose does not utilize the lever or the screw and nylon washer, therefore the proportioner should not be removed.) Remove the valve body mounting screws from the base. 6. Carefully slide the valve sub from the base and set it on a clean and flat surface or table. (Note: Be careful not to separate the parts within the valve sub otherwise the o-rings will need to be removed and reassembled to avoid water leakage. If the parts become separated, the o-rings (new or used o-ring is acceptable) will be reassembled on step 8.)
