Attention Installer If installation instructions are not followed this may result in damage to the INTELLIKEY lock and void the factory warranty. INTELLIKEY Access Control System Because of the wide range of door hardware, this guide can only provide general guidelines as to the installation. For this reason, INTELLIKEY Corporation and its distributors cannot be responsible for incorrect installations and any subsequent damages. 1. Contents The carton should contain the following items: A. 1 Cylinder with collar installed in cylindrical lockset B. 1 Escutcheon C. 1 Mounting plate with lock electronics not shown D. 1 Battery pack with coin cell E. 4 Mounting screws & 2 security screws F. Escutcheon gasket A. Cylinder B. Standard Escutcheon C. Standard mounting plate with electronics & battery Page 3

2. Skills and Tools Needed It is recommended that an experienced Door and Hardware installation person install the INTELLIKEY Access Control System. If you are confident in your ability to successfully install this system, contact INTELLIKEY Corporation for information on training classes. Tools required to physically install the INTELLIKEY System will include. 1 (25.4mm) wood or metal bit 7/64 (2.8mm) wood or metal bit 1/4 (6.5mm) round file Electric drill #2 phillips screw driver 1/4 regular screw driver security screw driver adjustable square Installation instructions Some variations in tools will be required depending on whether the installation is using Fixed, Mortise, Rim or Cylindrical type locking system. Certain precautions must be observed during handling and installation of the INTELLIKEY Access System. Although the control board is designed to be protected against many abusive actions, care must be exercised in its handling. SAFEGUARD AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE, PHYSICAL ABUSE, METAL CHIPS OR SHAVINGS AND USE WITH UNAUTHORIZED AUXILIARY DEVICES. IF THE CLOCK BACKUP BATTERY HAD BEEN INSTALLED DURING OR BEFORE PROGRAMMING DO NOT INSERT A KEY INTO THE CYLINDER UNTIL AFTER INSTALLATION IS COMPLETED AND MAIN BATTERY PACK INSTALLED. ON ALL APPLICATIONS INVOLVING EXTERIOR DOORS OR ANY DOOR EXPOSED TO MOISTURE THE ESCUTCHEON GASKET MUST BE INSTALLED. Page 4

3. Remove existing cylinder and hardware Remove the existing mechanical mortise or rim cylinder. To avoid wood or metal shavings from entering lock, we recommend complete removal of mechanical lockset from door before drilling access holes. 4. Drilling cylinder cable access hole The next step involves, as dictated by the existing or new door hardware, the drilling of an access hole in the face of door opposite existing cylinder hole. Due consideration must be made for the type of lockset and trim being employed. Please refer to drawings below for recommended access hole size and location. Care must be taken that the position of the access hole will be covered by the mounting plate and escutcheon or the lock trim its self. Precise alignment of the hole allowing passage of the connector cable from the back of the Electronic Cylinder to the Control Board is solely the responsibility of the installer Backset Cable access hole 3/4" C L 1/4" Cylninder hole Inside face of door Mortise Lock Adams Rite Page 5

.750".40".375" Diameter access hole centered on door For cylindrical lockset preparation please refer to instructions included with lockset. 0.5" #8 x.625" FH screw 2.75" Lock Case 5. Electronic Cylinder Installation Reinstall the mortise lock case in door. Because the INTELLIKEY Electronic Cylinder is longer than most cylinders, blocking rings may be required. Insert the Cable and Electronic Cylinder through cylinder collar, into mortise lock and out access hole. Thread cylinder into lock case being careful not to snarl, twist, abrade or cut cylinder cable. Cylinder face MUST BE FLUSH WITH COLLAR, if not this may prevent key rotation. Tighten cylinder set screw then position cable so that it does not interfere with rotation of cam. Page 6

Mounting Plate with Control Board 6. Mounting Plate Installation With the cylinder cable projecting from the surface of the door, position the Mounting Plate such that the cable will extend through the opening in Mounting Plate and access hole is covered. Mark door face for drilling pilot holes. Remove Mounting Plate, set aside and drill holes using a 7/64 (2.8mm) bit. Place Mounting Plate back on door and fasten down using the four (4) screws. Attach cylinder cable to the keyed cylinder cable socket. DO NOT INSERT A KEY INTO CYLINDER UNLESS THE BATTERY HAS BEEN CONNECTED. 6a. Installing Cylinder Connector Mortise / Rim cylinder connector Profile / Cylindrical cylinder connector For mortise or rim cylinder installation insert the keyed connector into either of the upper sockets. For cylindrical or Euro profile cylinders open the lower connector, insert the flex circuit with contacts up and close connector as shown above. Open Closed Page 7

+ Battery Connector Cylinder Backup 7. Battery Installation Insert the battery pack under the battery clamp which is welded onto the Mounting Plate. Connect the battery cable to the appropriate connector on Control Board. Lay the excess cable between the Battery Pack and the Control Board. With the door ajar test the lock for proper operation. Insert the Clock Backup battery under clip and into holder. Observe polarity and installing with plus + sign visible. 8. Escutcheon Gasket Installation Lay the Escutcheon on a flat surface with the inside facing up. Carefully remove one end of the paper backing. Starting at the top or logo end, of Escutcheon, lay gummed side against Escutcheon and press firmly. Repeat procedure going down one side and then the other side finally going across the bottom being careful not to stretch or pull Escutcheon Gasket out of shape. 9. Escutcheon Installation Examination of the Mounting Plate and Escutcheon will reveal an interlock mechanism at the top of each piece which, when engaged by the other, act to prevent access to the Control Board. The lower end of the Escutcheon is fastened to the Mounting Plate by means of two (2) security screws which require a special tool for operation. THE ESCUTCHEON GASKET MUST BE INSTALLED ON ALL APPLICATIONS INVOLVING EXTERIOR AND/OR ANY INTERIOR DOORS EXPOSED TO MOISTURE. Page 8 Escutcheon Gasket must be installed on ALL exterior doors

An insulating Grommet must be used on all metal doors Page 9

Cylinder Flush with Collar Security Screws 10. Summary This completes the physical installation of the INTELLIKEY Electronic Lock. If the control board had been previously programmed and the batteries installed, it is now ready to operate. If the control board backup battery was not installed prior to programming, THE TIME and DATE WILL NEED TO BE SET ON THE CONTROL BOARD using a computer and the LPU. If the lock has not been programmed, you will need to program prior to its first use. In addition, the keys for your lock should have been programmed and ready for operation in the lock. Page 10

11. Maintenance Instructions The INTELLIKEY Lock Electronics need no maintenance. However the cylinder keyway should be maintained as follows: A lubricant should be sprayed into all INTELLIKEY exterior cylinders every three months and interior cylinders every six months. Do not use graphite. Due to its conductive properties, graphite will cause shorts to the cylinder contacts. We recommend as the only approved lubricant Corrosion Block which can be purchased from a dealer. See the INTELLIKEY price list. Corrosion Block will lubricate mechanical parts while protecting electrical components. Spray into keyway then rotate lock with valid key. 12. Cam replacement If it is found necessary to replace the cam on an INTELLIKEY cylinder the new cam should be attached using the two retaining screws and the screws fixed in position using Loctite threadlock or similar. This reduces the risk of the screws and cam working loose. DO NOT insert a key into cylinder while the cam is removed; the core of the cylinder could be removed with the key. Removing the core could result in components within the cylinder being displaced damaging the cylinder beyond economic repair. Page 12
