Testing and Reprting Requirements fr Linear Replacement Lamps The DLC defines all tube-style LED prducts that use the lamp hlders (i.e. sckets r tmbstnes) in the luminaire t mechanically r electrically cnnect t the fixture husing and electric supply t fall under these testing requirements. Prducts that d nt emply lamp hlders will be classified as Retrfit Kits, regardless f frm factr. Please see the Prduct Eligibility page and Technical Requirements fr mre details n prduct classificatin. The DLC accepts QPL applicatins fr tw-ft, three-ft, fur-ft, eight-ft, and U-Bend Linear Replacement Lamps. The Testing and Reprting Requirements described belw are intended t evaluate the perfrmance f the lamp itself, and its perfrmance in an apprpriate reference fixture, representative f the mst cmmn applicatin fr each flurescent replacement lamp type. General Applicatins Tw-ft, three-ft, and U-bend replacement lamp general applicatins are restricted t LED lamps intended t replace flurescent T8. Eight-ft replacement lamps are restricted t lamps intending t replace T8 flurescent lamps. Fur-ft replacement lamp general applicatins are restricted t LED lamps intended t replace flurescent T8, T5, and T5HO lamps at this time. Prduct specificatin sheets must clearly indicate fr which specific linear replacement lamp type (i.e. T8, T5, r T5HO) the prduct is intended, and list the base type and the nminal length in inches. T8 Tw-Ft Linear Replacement Lamps LED lamps intended t replace T8 flurescent lamps. These LED lamps shall be 24 inches lng and emply a G13 base. Marketing material shall indicate that they are intended t replace T8 flurescent lamps f the same length. Prducts f different lengths and bases are nt eligible under this general applicatin. T8 Three-Ft Linear Replacement Lamps LED lamps intended t replace T8 flurescent lamps. These LED lamps shall be 36 inches lng and emply a G13 base. Marketing material shall indicate that they are intended t replace T8 flurescent lamps f the same length. Prducts f different lengths and bases are nt eligible under this general applicatin. Prducts intended t perate n magnetic ballasts are nt eligible. T8 Fur-Ft Linear Replacement Lamps LED lamps intended t replace T8 flurescent lamps. These LED lamps shall be 48 inches lng and emply a G13 base. Marketing material shall indicate that they are intended t replace T8 flurescent lamps f the same length. Prducts f different lengths and bases are nt eligible under this general applicatin. Prducts intended t perate n magnetic ballasts are nt eligible. T5 Fur-Ft Linear Replacement Lamps LED lamps intended t replace T5 flurescent lamps (nte, nt T5 High Output r T5HO). These LED lamps shall be 46 inches lng and emply a G5 base. Marketing material shall indicate that they are intended t replace T5 flurescent lamps f the same length. Prducts f different lengths, bases, r marketed as intended t replace ther types f flurescent lamps are nt eligible under this general applicatin. T5HO Fur-Ft Linear Replacement Lamps LED lamps intended t replace T5HO flurescent lamps. These LED lamps shall be 46 inches lng and emply a G5 base. Marketing material shall indicate that they are intended t replace T5HO flurescent lamps f the same length. U-Bend Replacement Lamps LED lamps intended t replace T8 flurescent lamps. These LED lamps shall emply a G13 base. Marketing material shall indicate that they are intended t replace T8 flurescent lamps f the same shape. Prducts f different bases are nt eligible. Primary Use Designatins Under the Technical Requirements Table, replacement lamps will fall under ne f the fllwing fur Primary Use Designatins: Replacement Lamps (UL Type A): Tw-ft, three-ft, fur-ft, eight-ft, and U-bend LED "tubes" designed t replace tw-ft, three-ft, fur-ft, eight-ft, and U-bend flurescent lamps, respectively. Prducts in this primary use designatin emply lamp hlders t cnnect t the fixture being retrfitted and are designed t be "plug and play" replacements fr flurescent lamps. That is, prducts in this categry perate utilizing an existing flurescent ballast, and d nt require mechanical r electrical changes t the fixture. Nte that due t testing cnsideratins, at this time nly prducts that perate utilizing specific ballasts types are eligible. Please see Fixture Level Test requirements belw. Replacement lamps designed t perate utilizing magnetic ballasts r ther types f electrnic ballasts nt specified are nt eligible at this time. Internal Driver/Line Vltage Lamp-Style Retrfit Kits (UL Type B): Tw-ft, three-ft, fur-ft, eight-ft, and U-bend LED "tubes" designed t replace tw-ft, three-ft, fur-ft, eight-ft, and U-bend flurescent lamps, respectively. Prducts in this categry emply lamp hlders t cnnect t the fixture being retrfitted, but d nt perate utilizing the existing flurescent ballast. These prducts require rewiring f the existing fixture t bypass the ballast and send line vltage directly t the lamp hlders. External Driver Lamp-Style Retrfit Kits (UL Type C): Tw-ft, three-ft, fur-ft, eight-ft, and U-bend LED "tubes" designed t replace tw-ft, three-ft, fur-ft, eight-ft, and U-bend flurescent lamps, respectively. Prducts in this categry emply lamp hlders t cnnect t the fixture being retrfitted, d nt perate utilizing the existing flurescent ballast, and require rewiring f the existing fixture t replace the Testing and Reprting Requirements fr Linear Replacement Lamps Page 3 f 17

ballast with an external driver. The lamp hlders are then wired t receive nly the lw-vltage electricity that is supplied by that external driver. Dual Mde Internal Driver (UL Type A and Type B): Tw-ft, three-ft, fur-ft, eight-ft, and U-bend LED "tubes" designed t replace tw-ft, three-ft, fur-ft, eight-ft, and U-bend flurescent lamps, respectively. Prducts in this categry perate utilizing the existing flurescent ballast and als have the ability t perate utilizing line vltage if the fixture is rewired t bypass the ballast. These prducts cnnect t the fixture using standard pin-base cnnectins t the lamp hlders. Nte that due t testing cnsideratins, at this time nly prducts that perate utilizing specific ballasts types are eligible. Please see testing requirements belw. Replacement lamps designed t perate utilizing magnetic ballasts, r ther types f electrnic ballasts nt specified, are nt eligible at this time. Fr testing purpses, the DLC requires testing f bth the bare lamp and lamps installed in a typical fixture husing. These typical fixture husings are intended t prvide testing results f the mst cmmn applicatins in which these prducts are used, including representative thermal cnditins f the fixtures in which the lamps wuld be installed. In specifying these fixture husings, the DLC des nt endrse r exclude any particular make r mdel frame fr use in energy efficiency prgrams. Supprting Dcumentatin Applicants shall prvide the fllwing supprting dcumentatin in additin t the test data described belw. Installatin Instructins Installatin instructin sheets must be submitted with the applicatin t indicate hw the replacement lamp will be installed in an existing fixture in the field. This must be prvided in additin t all necessary dcumentatin required fr ther prduct categries. Lamps that require specialized cmpnents fr installatin t perfrm t the abve criteria are nt eligible fr qualificatin. Lamps that emply rtatable end-caps are eligible, but must clearly indicate this feature in the prduct spec sheet. Testing and Reprting Requirements fr Linear Replacement Lamps Page 4 f 17

Safety Certificatin Dcumentatin DLC has updated the Safety Certificatin Dcumentatin requirements and prcesses. The dcumentatin required fr the lamp under the new plicy must be submitted with the crrespnding applicatin. Please review the updated Safety Certificatin Dcumentatin detailed requirements utlined in the V4.3 Primary Technical Requirements page released with this dcument. Bth plicies will be fficially implemented n March 26 th, 2018. Lamp Level Tests All lamps seeking qualificatin by the DLC must test the bare lamp accrding t LM- 79. Fr T5 and T5HO replacement lamps designed t perate utilizing existing flurescent ballasts, testing must be cnducted using a nrmal 1.0 ballast factr, electrnic prgrammed-start ballast. mdel number must be nted in the test reprt. Ballasts used in testing must be certified t the applicable safety standards and must cmply with applicable ANSI standards. Fr Type B and Type C prducts (i.e. lamp-style retrfit kits, which cnnect mechanically and/r electrically t the fixture via standard lamp hlders, but which require an electrical mdificatin t the existing fixture), lamp -level testing is als required. If the system is designed t perate multiple lamps utilizing an external driver, the driver shuld be laded as it wuld be in the field, with apprpriate steps taken t calculate the efficacy f the single lamp. Fr example, fr a tw-lamp kit, ne lamp shuld be measured fr light utput, while the system as intended (with tw identical lamps n the driver) shuld be measured fr electrical input. The wattage int the driver can then be divided by tw, and that wattage divided int the lamp lumens t determine system efficacy. Fr questins, please cntact applicatins@designlights.rg. Fixture Level Tests: Tw-Ft Linear Replacement Lamps Please nte that at the time f this release, lamps intended t replace T5-diameter flurescents are nly eligible in the fur-ft categries. Only lamps intended t replace T8 flurescents are currently eligible in the 2-ft categries. All lamps seeking qualificatin must be tested inside in a reference trffer. Type A, Type B, and Dual-mde tw-ft lamps shall test with three (3) lamps installed in an apprpriate reference trffer. Type C lamps shall test with the apprpriate number f lamps as are intended t be perated n the external driver included in that Type C system; ne, tw, three, and fur lamp Type C systems are eligible. Replacement Lamps that utilize rtatable end caps shuld be tested in the rientatin specified as the default in the manufacturer s installatin instructins. If the installatin instructins d nt specify an rientatin, the lamps shuld be riented straight dwn (this is cmmnly the zer degree setting). DLC reviewers will review the installatin instructins prvided with the applicatin t verify the apprpriate testing rientatin, and cmpare this against dcumentatin in the LM-79 reprt and IES file. Rtatable end cap linear replacement lamp listings will include infrmatin n the testing rientatin in the Ntes field. Fixture Level Tests: Three-Ft Linear Replacement Lamps Please nte, at the time f this release, lamps intended t replace T5-diameter flurescents are nly eligible in the fur-ft categries.
