DAS DIRECT ACCESS SCHEME... CBT COMPULSORY BASIC TRAINING Anyone wishing to ride on the road as a learner moped/motorcycle rider, or is planning to pass their full motorcycle test, must first complete CBT. Our CBT course is based on six hours tuition, four hours off road training and a minimum of two hours onroad training/riding. The first four hours will focus on the machine you are riding, learning how to maintain and control it, you will need to know the legalities of riding safely on the road including safety equipment. Once you and your instructor feel you are ready, you move on to two hours of onroad tuition under close supervision. Once your instructor is confident of your ability to ride unaccompanied, you will receive your CBT certificate (also known as a DL 196 certificate) valid for two years. There will be a small charge for those requiring further training to complete their CBT. CBT Rider Renewal Need to renew your CBT? You need to pass both of these to complete and pass the Theory Test. Once passed you can apply to take your practical motorcycle test. Taking your Theory Test? The multiple choice part of the test is conducted using a touch screen computer, the questions in each multiple choice test vary according to the category of vehicle you are hoping to obtain a license for, therefore the motorcycle theory test will contain specific questions that will not appear in any other theory test. You may practise the theory test here: www.gov.uk/takepracticetheorytest Should you wish to practice your hazard perception skills you can purchase the official guide to hazard perception for your PC or Mac to test them. Other ways to practise You can buy apps, software and books from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) to practise both parts of the test. DAS DIRECT ACCESS SCHEME... 8 4 MOD 1 3 DAY COURSE FOUR STEPS TO YOUR FULL MOTORCYCLE LICENCE MOD 2 2 DAY COURSE Anyone wishing to pass their full motorcycle test will now need to complete the two part module 1 and module 2 tests having completed CBT and theory test. Each day will last approx six hours with a 30 min break for lunch. The 3 day course is designed to teach you safe and correct riding techniques to pass the DVSA s practical motorcycle test, and will help you to be a better rider. Day 1: After an eyesight test and introduction to a larger motorcycle (if applicable), Day 1 consists of general road riding tuition with an opportunity to practice the modular one manoeuvres before taking the test, the module 1 test consists of several off road exercises/ manoeuvres (see diagram) these will be carried out at the DVSA test centre. Day 2: A continuation of road riding tuition, plus additional module 1 circuit training if required. Day 3: Accompanied by your instructor you will ride to the DVSA test centre during a one hour warmup period, this should ready you for your prearranged module 1 test. When completed you can move on to your module 2 testthe final part of your full licence. Mod 2 test: There are two available options with the Mod 2 test, take your test on the same day with training or take your test the following day after training. So...what size motorcycle can I ride? Age 16... You may ride a 50cc motorcycle or less, as a learner whilst displaying L plates. Take test on a moped up to 50cc (AM Restricted to Mopeds). Age 17..You may ride a 125cc or less, as a learner whilst displaying L plates. Age 17 and 18... Take test on 120cc to 125cc (A1 Restricted to 125cc). Age 19 to 24...
