- 4 - GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGS IMPORTANT! Motion Concepts disclaims all responsibility for any personal injury or damage to property that occurs as a result of improper or unsafe use of the power positioning system or the wheelchair on which the system is installed. WARNING! The following guidelines should be adhered to while operating your Motion Concepts power positioning system to avoid injury and ensure safe operation: Never operate the tilt, elevate seat or power elevating legrest function while underneath a fixed object such as a table or desk. Never use the footplates as support during transfers. When transferring in or out of the seating system, ensure that footplates/foot platforms are in the flipped-up or swing-away position (where applicable). Never exceed the maximum allowable weight capacity for the Maxx LNX center mount legrest Never allow items (i.e.; posture belts, backpacks, coats, etc...) to be trapped under your seat when tilted, or beneath your power legrests when extended, otherwise damage to the system may occur. Always maintain a minimum of 3-inches between bottom of the front riggings and the floor/ground while the wheelchair is in motion to ensure proper ground clearance. Never allow your power center mount legrest to be used as a tie-down point in a vehicle. Use only the designated anchoring points on the power wheelchair. Never operate your power positioning system while driving your wheelchair. WARNING! Danger of injury by moving parts! To avoid personal injury and injury to other individuals from moving wheelchair parts such as wheels, power legrests, and/or tilt or elevate modules, always be aware of your surroundings, especially when children are present. Pinch points may occur during the operation of your power center mount legrest. Always keep hands and fingers clear of moving parts to avoid injury. WARNING! Risk of injury, tipping or damage When travelling down a ramp or incline, never attempt to drive with power elevating leg rests in the extended position. WARNING! Danger of injury if wheelchair and/or power positioning system is used in any other way than the purpose described in this manual! Only ever use the wheelchair/seating system in accordance with the instructions provided in this Owners Manual and your powerbase Owners/Operators Manual Pay strict attention to all safety information provided. WARNING! Any sudden or gradual deterioration in the function/performance of your power positioning system (i.e. increased actuator motor/gearbox noise, rattling, sloppiness, etc...) must be reported to your Dealer immediately. A complete wheelchair inspection by a qualified technician is recommended to ensure there is no unusual wear and tear, or physical damage that requires servicing and/or repair. WARNING! Risk of Injury or damage if correct or improper replacement (service) parts are used Replacement parts for your power positioning system MUST match original Motion Concepts parts WARNING! Do not substitute hardware All hardware used by Motion Concepts in the assembly and installation of our Power Positioning Systems is high strength. Use only the hardware supplied with your seating system. WARNING! Danger of accident and loss of guarantee if maintenance is insufficient! For reasons of safety and in order to avoid accidents which result from unnoticed wear, it is recommended that under normal operating conditions your power positioning system undergoes a complete bi-annual inspection

- 6-2.0 - MAXX LNX Adjustment/Feature Over view 2.1 LNX MAXX: Adjustment/Feature Overview The maximum user weight capacity for the Maxx LNX center mount legrest is 300 lbs/136 kgs. The Maxx LNX is installed onto the system seat frame or seat side rails via the legrest receivers. The initial (retracted) legrest angle may be set-up to one of three optional configurations. The mounting holes used in the upper legrest crosstube will establish the initial legrest angle (as illustrated in Figure 1A below). The Maxx LNX legrest geometry provides up to 9" of virtual articulation at full extension. The angle at full extension will vary depending on the initial legrest angle (refer to Figure 1B below). - 7-2.0 - Maxx LNX Adjustment Overview 2.1 LNX MAXX: Adjustment Overview (...cont d) The Maxx LNX Legrest is designed to provide infinite knee-to-heel (KTH) adjustment within the established range of the extension brackets. There are two sizes of extension brackets available on the LNX legrest: Short KTH* = 10 to 16 ; Long KTH = 13 to 19 KTH *Note: 10-13 KTH requires an extra-small one-piece calf pad Each Maxx LNX legrest may be configured with either a centermount platform (Figure 2.0), or individual footplates (Figure 3.0). All foot plate/platform options allow adjustment to the footplate angle, while the individual footplates also allow for an offset/bi-level configuration if desired. 3.1 MAXX LNX: Basic Legrest Set-Up - 8-3.0 - MAXX LNX Set-Up and Adjustment The basic set-up of the Maxx LNX legrest is intended to ensure that the users feet remain properly supported in both the retracted and extended legrest position. The basic set-up is performed in two simple steps. Step 1. Retracted Position: With the legrest retracted and the user properly seated in the chair, adjust the knee-to-heel (KTH) of the legrest assembly to optimize the comfort/ positioning of the clients legs. Once the KTH is set, the legrest should then be fully extended with the user still seated in the chair. Step 2. Extended Position: While extended, adjust the depth of the Maxx LNX assembly inward or outward (as needed) so that the footplate just makes contact with the users feet 1 (refer to section B. Maxx LNX Depth/Articulation Adjustments). Re-tighten the legrest receivers to secure the legrest into position. 1 IMPORTANT! when the legrest is fully extended, ensure the clients feet are supported at the heel by the foot plate/platform, as well as the calf pad(s). Knee-to-Heel Adjustments 1 Range of Adjustment (10-16 )* Range of Adjustment (13-19 ) Legrest Depth Adjustment** 2 **Note: Depth/Articulation Adjustments will differ depending on the type of seating system SHORT (Limited KTH) Extension Brackets LONG *Note: 10-13 KTH only available with extra-small one-piece calf pad maintain a minimum 3 ground clearance when wheelchair s in motion 3.2 MAXX LNX: Adjustments In addition to the basic set-up (KTH and Legrest Depth adjustments), it may also be necessary/desireable to make additional adjustments to the legrest assembly to meet the specific needs of the client. The following Sections A. thru E. illustrate all the available Maxx LNX legrest adjustments in greater detail. A. Knee-to-Heel (KTH) Adjustments: KTH set-up is controlled via the legrest extension bracket. Split footplates utilize two individual extension brackets (to allow independent footplate adjustment), while the centermount foot platform utilizes a onepiece extension bracket. The slotted channel in the bracket allows for infinite KTH adjustability within the available channel length. Extension Brackets/KTH Range: SHORT = 10 to 16 KTH* ; LONG = 13 to 19 KTH *Note: 10-13 KTH requires an extra-small one-piece calf pad. WARNING! Always maintain a minimum of 3-inches between bottom of the front riggings and the floor/ground while the wheelchair is in motion to ensure proper ground clearance. If necessary, elevate the front rigging or tilt the seat to achieve proper ground clearance.

- 9-3.0 - MAXX LNX Set-Up and Adjustment A. Knee-to-Heel Adjustments (... cont d) I. Individual Footplate: Uni-Level KTH Adjustments Each individual footplate is installed onto its own separate extension bracket. For the Shortest KTH lengths (10 to 13 ) the spacer block is not required, and only two sets of mounting screws are needed per extension bracket (refer to image i). For the Short KTH (13 to 16 ) and the Long KTH (13 to 19 ), the extension brackets are adjusted via the upper 2 screws on the extension bracket (refer to image ii.) To maintain strength and stability at longer KTH settings, the spacer block must be installed at the bottom of the extension bracket (see image iii). Note: Front shroud & calf pads are not shown for illustration purposes. i. SHORTEST KTH 10 to 13 Adjustment Screws (2 screws only) *Spacer Block Removed ii. Individual Footplate: Bi-Level KTH Adjustments The separate extension brackets allow each footplate to be adjusted independently for bi-level (offset) configurations. For bi-level set-up, it is recommended that the footplates be first set to the shortest KTH height. With the shorter KTH set, adjust the opposite footplate to the longer KTH position (see images iv. and v.). With the footplates/extension brackets set to their desired KTH lengths, re-tighten all 4 screws to secure the footplates into place. IMPORTANT! In a bi-level configuration, the spacer block should remain aligned with the higher footplate (i.e.; shorter KTH)- as indicated below. iv. v. loosen 2 upper screws Note: Front shroud and calf pads are not shown for illustration purposes Adjust the offset footplate/ bracket to desired KTH length and re-tighten screws Individual Footplate Loosen lower screws in the spacer block Refasten spacer block at the shorter KTH

Centermount Platform KTH Adjustments The centermount foot platform is installed onto a onepiece extension bracket. For the Shortest KTH length (10 to 13 ) the spacer block is removed, and only two sets of screws are used to install/adjust the foot platform height (see image vi.). For the Short KTH (13 to 16 ) and Long KTH lengths (13 to 19 ) the upper set of screws are used to adjust the overall KTH length (see images vii and viii.). Note: Front shroud and calf pads are not shown for illustration purposes. vi. SHORTEST KTH 10 to 13 Adjustment Screws (2 screws only) Spacer Block Removed vii. viii. Always maintain a minimum of 3-inches between bottom of the front riggings and the floor/ground while the wheelchair is in motion to ensure proper ground clearance. If necessary, elevate the front rigging or tilt the seat to achieve proper ground clearance. IV. Cosmetic Trim Each LNX legrest comes with a strip of Cosmetic Trim that can be installed in order to cover the exposed edges along the extension bracket, and improve the overall aesthetics of the LNX legrest. To Install: Once the final KTH length is determined, cut the cosmetic trim to the desired length and press the strip into the slots at the front of the spacer block and the main body (extrusion). - 11-3.0 - MAXX LNX Set-Up and Adjustment B. Maxx LNX Depth/Articulation Adjustments: If the footplate correctly supports the feet in the retracted position, but not in the extended position, then an articulation adjustment is required. This adjustment is made by changing the legrest depth. Depending on the type of seat frame, it is accomplished in two ways: I. Depth Adjustable Legrest Receivers: For Motion Concepts seating systems fitted with our classic square tube side frames, the overall depth of the Maxx LNX Legrest is controlled via two depth adjustable legrest receivers. To adjust the depth of the Maxx LNX, loosen the locking screw on each seat side frame and slide both legrest receivers in or out (equally) to the desired position/ depth (refer to image i.) The adjustable depth receivers offer infinite depth adjustment within the channel length on the receiver. legrest receiver i. seat side frame locking screw Depth Adjustment (Classic Side-Frames) II. Depth Adjustable Ultra-Rails: For Motion Concepts seating systems fitted with our extruded side rails (Ultra-Rails), the overall depth of the Maxx LNX Legrest is controlled by adjusting the depth of the ultra-rails relative to the seat frame. To adjust the legrest depth, loosen the mounting screws (2 per side) on the inside of each ultra rail and slide the rails (together with the LNX assembly) in or out to the desired position- see image ii.. (Note: adjust the ultra rails equally on both sides). The ultra rails offer infinite depth adjustment within a maximum range of 3. ii. mounting screws (2 per side) extruded ultra-rail Depth Adjustment (Ultra-Rails) If you have any questions or concerns regarding depth adjustments to the Maxx LNX legrest, please contact our Customer Service Department for assistance C. Calf Pad Adjustments: I. Malleable Calf Panel The malleable calf panel provides a greater level of support without the need for a multitude of adjustments. This unique one-piece calf panel utilizes a bendable steel inner skeleton that is molded directly into the foam pad. The calf panel can be manipulated/shaped (by hand) to match the contour of the clients legs. The malleable calf panel installs in a fixed position on the legrest assembly. (refer to images below). Malleable Calf Panel Fixed Mounting Position (2 screws) bendable steel inner skeleton

- 12-3.0 - MAXX LNX Set-Up and Adjustment II. Independent Curved Calf Pads The overall height/ position of the curved calf pads on the legrest assembly can be adjusted via the calf pad mounting plate (both pads are adjusted at once)- see images below. To adjust the mounting position of the calf pads, loosen the two mounting screws on the front shroud cover, and slide the calf pads up or down via the slot in the mounting plate. The mounting plate provides a 1-1/4 range of vertical adjustment. Independent Curved Calf Pad Calf Pad Mounting Plate height adjustment slots shroud/cover The independent calf pads are installed via a mounting bracket into the side tabs of the calf pad mounting plate. The calf pads may be configured (independently) in one of three mounting positions (depths) on the mounting plate (3/8 increments) as illustated in the images below. - 13-3.0 - MAXX LNX Set-Up and Adjustment D. Footplate Angle Adjustments The Split Footplates (Bi-Level or Uni-Level) can be independently adjusted to set the desired footplate angle for each footplate. The angle of the Center Mount Platform is also adjusted via a button head screw at the rear of the foot platform. Once set, these footplate angles will remain consistent throughout the extension and retraction of the legrest assembly. I. Individual Footplate- Angle Adjustment The angle* of each individual footplate is adjusted via the button head screw in the mounting bracket at the rear of each footplate (Refer to images below). To set the maximum upward footplate angle, fully extend the set screw (ensure there is adequate screw thread remaining in the footplate to hold it in place). To maximize the downward footplate angle, the screw may be completely removed. *Note: The final angle of the footplate(s) will be dictated by the initial angle set up of the Maxx LNX Legrest - see Section 2.1 Footplate Angle Adjustment Maximized Upward Angle (with set screw fully extended) Button Head Screw 25 ο range (approx.)
