Civil Aviation Authority MANDATORY PERMIT DIRECTIVE Number: 2014-002 Issue date: 30 January 2014 In accordance with 22(1) of Air Navigation Order 2009 as amended the following action required by this Mandatory Permit Directive (MPD) is mandatory for applicable aircraft registered in the United Kingdom operating on a UK CAA Permit to Fly. Type Approval Holder s Name: Light Sport Aviation Ltd Type/Model Designation(s): Aerotechnik EV-97 Eurostar Aerotechnik EV-97A Eurostar Aerotechnik EV-97 Eurostar SL EV-97 teameurostar UK Title: Wing / Fuselage Fairings Inspection for Rivet Damage Manufacturer: Applicability: Reason: Light Sport Aviation Ltd Aerotechnik EV-97 Eurostar Aerotechnik EV-97A Eurostar Aerotechnik EV-97 Eurostar SL EV-97 teameurostar UK EV-97 Eurostar variants are fitted with aluminium alloy fairings between the under surface of the wing and the lower fuselage. They are attached to the wings along one side with the other, unattached, side bearing on the fuselage. Effective Date: 3 February 2014 During an aircraft inspection it was noticed that the unattached sides of the fairings were rubbing against some rivet heads and causing damage to the rivet heads. The affected rivets attach the lower fuselage longerons and failure of one or more rivets could compromise the structural integrity of the fuselage. Compliance/Action: Compliance is required as follows, unless previously accomplished: 1. Within 10 flying hours from the effective date of this MPD, carry out an inspection in accordance with Light Sport Aviation Ltd Service Bulletin SB/EUR/010 and rectify any damage found, in accordance with the Service Bulletin, within a further 10 flying hours. 2. Repeat the inspection and rectification, if necessary, in paragraph 1 at intervals not exceeding 12 months. Mandatory Permit Directive 2014-002 Page 1 of 2

Type Approval Holder s Name: Light Sport Aviation Ltd Type/Model Designation(s): Aerotechnik EV-97 and 97A Eurostar Aerotechnik EV-97 Eurostar SL EV-97 teameurostar UK EV-97 Eurostar SL Microlight Title: Manufacturer: Applicability: Reason: Wing Flaps Correct Engagement of the Actuator Pins - Inspection Light Sport Aviation Ltd Aerotechnik EV-97 Eurostar Aerotechnik EV-97A Eurostar Aerotechnik EV-97 Eurostar SL EV-97 teameurostar UK EV-97 Eurostar SL Microlight An accident to a Eurostar occurred when one flap retracted during the landing approach which led to an uncontrollable roll. The cause was a wing flap actuator pin which was not properly engaged in the flap and which disengaged from the flap when the flaps were extended. Effective Date: 29 June 2015 Insufficient engagement of the wing flap actuator pins into the guides in the flap root ribs may cause wear of the guides. In extreme cases the pin or guide may fail causing a loss of flap controllability. Compliance/Action Compliance is required as follows, unless previously accomplished: 1. Within 25 flying hours from the effective date of this MPD, or at the next annual inspection, whichever comes first, carry out an inspection in accordance with Light Sport Aviation Ltd Service Bulletin SB/EUR/016. 2. If the inspection reveals the exposed length of the pin to be between 17 and 20 mm, before further flight, adjust the pin in accordance with the Service Bulletin. 3. If the inspection reveals the exposed length of the pin to be more than 20 mm, before further flight, contact Light Sport Aviation for a repair scheme and implement it.
