Transit Options Transit Lap Belt 5-Point Harness The transit lap belt provides additional safety when riding in a bus or van. This belt connects to a bus anchored shoulder restraint harness, and is used in addition to the positioning belt. Foam Transit Tray The foam transit tray provides additional support when transporting the occupant in a bus or van. It should only be used when circumstances require the use of tray during transport. The foam tray is also useful during daily activities when soft support is needed. Armrests required. The crash-tested 5-point harness will keep small children safer in their wheelchairs while riding in a bus or van. This harness is for children less then 65 pounds, and is safer because it is attached to the wheelchair rather then the vehicle, providing a closer fit. Head Supports Padded Headwings Headrest Extension Height adjustable headwings provide soft foam support for midline positioning of the head. May require headrest extension on some models. Occi Headwings Occi Headwing supports and positions the head at the occipital area. This headrest provides added comfort, allows side to side head movement without obstruction, and does not block the individual s ears and line of vision. Adjustable Contour Headrest Comfortably positions the head in alignment. This headrest is perfect for individuals with insufficient neck strength or endurance. Occi-Flex Headrest The Occi-Flex Cushioned Headrest is for the more involved client, as it offers nearly infinite combination of vertical, horizontal, and rotational positioning. This headrest supports and postions the head at the occipital area of the skull, while allowing for head movement. The Occi-Flex comes with a universal mounting bracket so can be used on any compatible wheelchair. Wheelchair Options Foot and Leg Positioning Foot Positioners Medial Thigh Support (Abductor) Adjustable Velcro straps hold feet in position on footplates. Straps can be positioned to wrap around the ankle or cross over foot. Separates thighs to improve hip alignment and stabilizing sitting posture. Degree of abduction can be varied and can favor one side. Angle Adjustable Footplates Footplates easily adjust frontward, backward, or sideways, and can be rotated vertically to achieve correct positioning. Lateral Thigh Support (Adductor) Pulls thighs together to improve hip alignment and stabilizing sitting posture. Degree of adduction can be varied. Footplate Securement Strap Strap secures the individual footplates together to prevent them from flipping up, especially helpful for individuals with high tone. Pommel (Medial Thigh Support) Separates thighs to improve hip alignment and stabilize sitting posture. Elevating Legrest with Swing-Away Footplates The legrest can be elevated to place the leg in an extended (knee straight) position. Carrot 3 Accessories Rodded Seat Extension Rodded seat extensions extend the seat depth as the occupant grows. Available in 2 sizes large (7") and small (2"). The large seat extension has a curved end, and the small extension has a 90º angle, which allows the occupant to bend their knees. Seat Extensions: 2" & 4" Seat extensions are designed to fill the space created when rodded seat extensions are used. Available in two lengths 2" and 4". Note: Rodded seat extension or rodded footrest required. Backrest Extensions: 2" & 4" The backrest extensions are designed to fill the space created when the backrest is extended. Available in two lengths 2" and 4". Note: the 2" and 4" cannot be used at the same time. Support Tray The support tray provides additional support for the arms and upper body. This tray is crash tested. Shoulder Wings Expandable Shoulder Wings protect the body from side impacts and centrifugal forces. The wings adjusts up to 4 in width, and add 6 of backrest height. Firm Lateral Support Lateral supports maintain midline positioning of the trunk for increased postural control. The laterals are height/width adjustable (2"), and swing-away for easy access to the restraint system. Pommel The pommel separates the thighs to improve hip alignment and stabilize sitting posture. Seat Angle Adjustment Wedge The wedge changes the seat-to-back angle by raising the front of the restraint system. This wedge has a 20 angle and is 4.25" at the highest point. Footrest The rodded footrests provide lower extremity support for added comfort, positioning, and improved circulation. Available in small (adjust from 10" 12"), medium (adjust from 12" 16"), and large (adjust from 14" 18"). Rodded footrests cannot be used with rodded seat extensions. That s why, when industry professionals and transportation safety experts agreed upon new standards to ensure the safety of wheelchairs used as seating aboard a bus or van, we welcomed the opportunity to demonstrate what we have long known: that our wheelchairs are safer than most conventional wheelchairs for use aboard a motor vehicle. WC19 is a standard developed by the wheelchair industry and transportation safety experts, which sets out certain minimum performance criteria for wheelchairs used as seating aboard a motor vehicle. These criteria include design and performance guidelines to protect the safety of wheelchair occupants in the event of a crash. In order to meet the requirements of WC19, wheelchairs must pass a dynamic crash test at 30 mph/20 deceleration (representing 95% of real-world motor vehicle accidents).
