Highlights of WR Grid in the month of April 12 Power Supply Position: The Maximum Peak Demand Met in WR was 37961 MW on 10.04.2012 which was 7.28 % more as compared to April 11 (35388MW) & 0.29 % less as compared to March 12 demand (38073 MW). Total Energy Consumption was 24900 Mus at the average of 830 Mus/day & Maximum was 859 Mus on 10.04.12. Whereas in the last month total Energy Consumption was 24675 Mus at the average of 796 Mus & Maximum was 840 Mus. Frequency Profile: System frequency was in IEGC band (49.5 50.2) throughout the month for 93.67 % of the time against 95.18 % of the time in the last month. Maximum and Minimum Frequency were observed 50.66 Hz and 49.080 Hz. The Average frequency of the Grid was 49.90 Hz. Voltage Profile: The voltage profile was normal and within the limits except at few substation where the deviation in voltages were observed beyond the stipulated limits in IEGC. The Highest voltage was observed at dhule (432 Kv on dated 11.04.12) and lowest was at Gwalior (386 Kv on dated 18.04.12). Capacity Addition: 1760 MW new generating capacity added in Western Region. No other grid elements are added into the grid. No major disturbance occurred. Major Events On 08/04/12, black start exercise was carried out at SSP. Unit#2 sync to island of 40 MW at 66kV Waghodia. From 10/04/12, allocation and scheduling of 1% RGPPL power to GOA is being done. On 24/04/12, reactive power capability testing of VSTPS#4 was carried out between 10:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs

Tripping in Western Region in April 12 05/04/2012: Satpura units #1, 2, 3, 4(4x62.5 MW), #6(200 MW), #7(210 MW), Satpura ICT (400/220 kv, 500 MVA ), tripped at 00:25 hrs due to Bus #1 PT burst. Generation loss of 470 MW was reported. This event would fall under category GD-1 as per CEA grid standards regulations-2010. 06/04/2012: Tripping of several 220 kv lines occurred due to fog in Gujarat. No load / generation loss was reported. This event would fall under category GI-1 as per CEA grid standards regulations-2010. 12/04/2012: Tripping of 400 kv Jhanor-Dehgam 1,2 at 06:44 and 06:54 hrs respectively occurred due to fog. This event would fall under category GI-2 as per CEA grid standards regulations-2010. 12/04/2012: At 20:54 hrs 400/220 kv ICT-1 & 2 at Karad tripped along with 400 kv Karad- Jaigad-1, 400 kv New koyna-karad-1 and unit 4 at Jaigad. Gen loss of 274 MW occurred; No load loss occurred. This event would fall under category GI-2 as per CEA grid standards regulations-2010. 14/04/2012: SGTPS units #1, 2, 3 (210 MW each) tripped at 15:50 hrs, 15:51 hrs and 15:55hrs respectively along with tripping of the station transformer at 15:40 hrs.
