Ergonomic Probe Shape: Ergonomic probe shape for each measuring site (oral, underarm, and rectal). This makes the measurement more comfortable and reliable. Accurate and Reliable: Accuracy of measurements with the thermometer is comparable to that of a conventional pen-type one. Fever Indicator: RED backlight will be on for 5 seconds if reading is equal to or higher than 99.5 F (37.5 C). Lighted Large Display: Large display with backlight makes the thermometer easy to use & read. Multiple Reading Recalls: Users will be able to recall the last 10 readings when entering the recall mode, enabling tracking of temperature variation more efficiently. Acoustic Signal: A beeper works to indicate readiness for use and end of a measurement. Dual Temperature Scale: The temerature scale can be switched from Celsius to Fahrenheit and vice-versa. Probe Detection Section: This device detects which probe is used and displays the body site icon on the LCD. 2

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS The performance of device may be degraded should one or more of the following occur: a) Operation and storage outside stated temperature and humidity range b) Mechanical shock; Patient temperature is below ambient temperature. Never use the thermometer for purposes other than body temperature measurement. Please follow the safety precautions when using in on children. Always clean the thermometer probes before and after each use. Never immerse the thermometer or probes in water or other liquids (not waterproof). For cleaning and disinfecting, please follow the instructions in the Cleaning and Storage section of the instructions. Keep the thermometer and probes away from direct exposure to the sun and keep in a dust-free, dry area at a temperature between 50 F-104 F, (10 C-40 C). Do not use the thermometer if there are signs of damage on the probe tips or the thermometer itself. If damaged, do not attempt to repair the thermometer! Please contact Summer Infant s Consumer Relations Department (see page 12 for contact information). This 3 in 1 Family Thermometer consists of high-quality precision parts. Do not drop the instrument! Protect it from severe impact and shock. Avoid the soft tips more than 45. Avoid ambient temperature above 140 F (60 C). Control displays and symbols LCD Display Display Meaning Description All segments displayed Press the O/I button to turn on the unit. All segments will be shown for 2 seconds. Recall of last reading Show last reading for 2 seconds Probe detection The device detects which probe is used and displays the body site icon. Ready-for-measurement Ready-for-measurement Completion of a measurement 5 short beeps and then green backlight on for 5 seconds when the temperature is lower than 99.5 F (37.5C) Completion of a measurement by regular mode During measurement, if irregular action such as movement of the body which produce abnormal data is detected, the device will enter regular measurement mode with the body icon disappeared and one beeper alarm. 5

CONTROL DISPLAYS AND SYMBOLS Fever alarm 15 short beeps and then red backlight on for 5 seconds when the temperature is higher than 99.5 F (37.5 C) in order to alert the patient that he/she may have a fever. Low battery indication When the battery voltage drops to the low level, the symbol will appear on LCD to remind user to change battery Error detection 1. The device detects problem on the circuit. 2. The probe does not connect well. IMPORTANT: The thermometer is not waterproof. CHANGING FROM CELCIUS TO FARENHEIT AND VICE VERSA The 3 in 1 Family Thermometer can display temperature measurements in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. To switch the scale from C to F or vise versa, press the O/I button for more than 3 seconds, and the unit is changed from C to F, then the device enters to measuring mode automatically. MEASURING THE TEMPERATURE Your 3 in 1 Family Thermometer will always attempt first to calculate the temperature with the predictive technology in Prediction mode. If correct measurement in the Prediction mode is repeatedly impossible (e.g. failure to position the probe adequately) the instrument automatically switches to Regular mode. In this mode the temperature is determined as with a conventional digital medical thermometer by extending the measuring time. 6

MEASURING THE TEMPERATURE (CONT.) 1. Connect the right probe for the measuring site you would like to take the temperature of before turning on the device by connecting probe to probe handle. 2. Turn on the device and it automatically displays all segments, last reading and check circuit before it is ready for measurement. 3. Oral measurement When correctly used your thermometer is able to accurately measure the temperature in the mouth in approximately 6 seconds. a. Carefully introduce the measuring tip in the slightly opened mouth of the patient. When doing so the measuring tip must be positioned as Instantly as possible in one of the two warming pockets to the left or right next to the frenulum of the tongue. Now lightly close the lips around the measuring tip. Note: Among other things the measured temperature is dependent on the position of the measuring tip in the mouth. The most accurate temperature is obtained in the warming pockets to the left and right next to the frenumum of the tongue. Breathing through the mouth and taking food and drinks directly prior to measurement also influences the temperature values obtained by oral measurement. b. Keep the measuring tip in permanent contact with the mucous membrane of the mouth during the entire measuring process. Holding the measuring tip still guarantees rapid and accurate measurement. 4. For underarm measurement When correctly used your thermometer is able to measure the temperature in the underarm in approximately 6 seconds. a. Wipe underarm with a dry towel. b. Place probe tip in armpit and bring arm down against the body. The probe should be pointing upward in the same direction as your body if possible. 7

Measuring the Temperature (Cont.) 5. For rectum measurement When correctly used your thermometer is able to accurately measure the temperature in the Rectal in approximately 5 seconds. a. Move the two cheeks of the buttocks somewhat apart with one hand and carefully introduce the measuring tip not more than 1.5cm (less for babies and small children) in the rectum. A lubricant (cream) can be used if required. b. The measuring tip must be in complete contact with the mucus membrane. Do not move the measuring tip so as not to injure the mucous membrane. Holding the measuring tip still guarantees rapid and accurate measurement. 6. While measuring the temperature the LCD display following. These indicate that measuring is in progress. Note: If the measuring tip is moved during the measuring process, the measuring time is extended in order to enable accurate temperature measurement. 7. Once the final measured temperature has been obtained five short beep are heard and green back light is on for 5 seconds if the reading below 99.5 F (37.5 C), or red back light is on for 5 seconds if the reading is above 99.5 F (37.5 C) with 15 short beep sound. 8. To switch off the thermometer, briefly press the O/I button. If this is not done, the thermometer switches off automatically after approximately 3 and half minutes. BATTERY WARNING: Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix alkaline, standard, or rechargable batteries. Remove batteries when product is stored for long periods of time or when batteries are exhausted. Dispose of exhausted batteries properly. 8

How to recall 10 readings in memory mode The 3 in 1 Family Thermometer can recall the last 10 readings. To recall please follow the sequence. Operation Sequence LCD Display Beeper/Backlight Turn unit off and push memory key. The reading, measurement site symbol, and M 1 are displayed Beeper: one short beep Back Light: On for 5 seconds Push memory key again to recall other memories in sequence Back Light: On for 5 seconds If there is no action after press memory key and goes to automatic shut off in 1 minute. Cleaning and storing Use a soft slightly moist cloth to clean the thermometer casing and the measuring tip. Ensure that no liquid enters the interior of the thermometer. For disinfecting wipe the thermometer with approximately 70% ethyl alcohol. Never use abrasive cleaning agents, thinners or benzene for cleaning and never immerse the instrument in water or other cleaning liquids. Take care not to scratch the surface of the LCD. Remove the batteries from the thermometer if it is not required for extended periods of time in order to avoid damage to the thermometer resulting from a leaking battery. 9
