FILE: SPEC3-3 www.cranepumps.com Specifications Simplex Non-Sparking Basin Package Stainless Rail for Class I, Group D, Division 1, with Fiberglass Cover SCOPE: Furnish and install a complete factory-built, Simplex Stainless Steel "C" Channel Non-Sparking Rail Package as shown on the plans. The package shall consist of a fi berglass basin, a cover with vent, Non-sparking "C" channel rail assembly, discharge piping and fi ttings, check valve, true union ball valve, level controls, and control panel. PACKAGE DESIGN: The basin diameter shall be inches with a depth of inches. Construction shall be custom molded fi berglass reinforced polyester resin. The wall thickness shall be suffi cient to withstand a water-saturated sand load of 120 lbs per cubic foot. A inch Flexible pipe fi tting or plastic pipe adapter for inlet shall be furnished with a location of inches from the top of the basin to the inlet centerline. The Flexible pipe fi tting or pipe adapter and gasket material shall be shipped loose for fi eld installation. A ballast support fl ange shall be provided as an integral part of the basin assembly, which shall extend a minimum of three (3) inches (76.2mm) on the radius of the basin. Two electrical couplings shall be bolted to the basin wall, one for the pump cables and one for the fl oat cables and shall be a minimum of 2" (51mm) apart. The basin cover shall be one-piece, fi berglass construction with a minimum diameter four (4) inches (102mm) greater than the basin. The outside surfaces shall be gel coated to provide a smooth sealed surface. Covers shall be a minimum of three eights (3/8) inch (9.5mm) thick and shall be grass green in color. Covers shall be securely held in place by a minimum of six (6) stainless steel bolts threaded into stainless steel inserts in the top collar of the basin. The cover shall have a screened bug-free vent that is corrosion resistant and grass green in color to match the cover. The slide rail assembly shall consist of, 300 series stainless steel upper pump guide brackets, lower pump guide brackets of brass and "C" channel rail assembly of 14 gauge 300 series stainless steel. The stationary portion of the hydraulically sealed discharge coupling assembly shall be machined cast iron and the movable fi tting of 85-5-5-5 brass. The upper rail bracket shall mount to the basin wall and position the upper end of the stainless steel guide rail while the lower rail bracket positions the lower end of the guide rail. The stainless steel rail shall support the pump at the required distance from the basin fl oor to provide unrestricted fl ow of material into the pump. The guide brackets shall be attached to the pump for positioning of the unit on the guide rail during installation or removal of the unit within the basin. The stationary fi tting shall have a fi ber reinforced neoprene diaphragm clamped between the stainless steel rail and the stationary cast iron discharge. The brass moveable fi tting, when in position shall be held against the stationary fi tting by the construction of the stainless steel rail, aligning the movable fi tting to the fl exible diaphragm for proper sealing of the two surfaces under pressure. The discharge piping shall contain an anti-siphon device located below the check valve. A polypropylene rope with a minimum breaking strength of 3750 pounds shall be provided for pump installation and removal. The discharge piping shall consist of inch schedule 40 stainless steel pipe. A ball check valve shall be installed in the vertical position between the pump discharge and the movable fi tting. Each valve shall be inches in size and shall consist of three major components; body, access plug, and ball. The design of the valve shall be such that it keeps solids, stringy material, grit, rags, etc., moving without the need for back fl ushing. There shall not be outside levers, weights, springs, dash pots or other accessories required for a swing (clapper) type check valve. The ball shall be natural rubber and be resistant to material normally found in sewage. The body shall be gray cast iron, ASTM Class 30, the plug shall be SCH. 40 PVC. Inlet and outlet ports shall be inch NPT. A inch PVC true union ball valve shall be installed in the discharge piping to provide shut-off capabilities during pump removal. The ball valve shall be full ported with a minimum rated pressure of 150 PSI (10.6 kgs/sq. meter) and shall be fi tted with an integral stainless steel extension handle. The extension handle shall extend up to within six (6) inches of the top of the basin for ease of access and operation, and shall be secured to the rail support bracket with a stainless steel bracket. Pump and control wiring to run continuously to the control panel through conduit and sealed fi ttings as required by state and local codes. All incoming power and control wires must pass through sealed fi ttings with sealing compound as required by Underwriters Laboratories. A quantity of three (3) liquid level controls with ft. of SJOW cable, shall be provided to control operation of the pump and high-water alarm. The level sensors shall be mercury type pilot duty devices mounted in a corrosion resistant polypropylene housing. The level controls shall be mounted to a PVC support pole attached to the stainless steel rail assembly as shown in the plans. Suffi cient cable shall be supplied to reach the control panel with no splices in the basin. Level controls shall be set at the elevations indicated on the plans. A simplex control panel shall be furnished in NEMA 4X fi berglass enclosure for Volts, Phase, 60 Hertz power supply. For each pump motor there shall be included; a combination circuit breaker/ overload unit providing overload protection, short circuit protection, reset and disconnect for all phases, across-the-line magnetic contactors, push button start, overload relay properly sized for motor characteristics (except XSGV2022L), 120 volt control panel pilot circuitry. A 120 volt control transformer with fused overload protection for external pilot circuitry shall be included (when required). Single phase panels shall be provided with a start capacitor, run capacitor, and start relay for each pump motor if not provided in the pump. A panel mounted moisture sensor relay with warning light shall be included to indicate moisture in the pump seal cavity. The moisture sensor relay shall have a test circuit consisting of a push-to-test button with neon indicating lamp for checking the moisture sensing components. Each panel shall be equipped with terminals for temperature sensors. These thermostats are wired in line with the pump motor starter coil and will turn the motor off with temperature rise. Intrinsically Safe relays shall be included for reducing voltage power supply to the level controls, one required for start & stop and one for alarm function. A high-water alarm (Horn,Light,etc.,) shall be included to indicate extreme high levels of liquid in the wet well. The control panel assembly and all components therein shall be U.L. listed. End In the operating mode, the ball shall not impede fl ow through the check valve. The operating fl ow area shall be equal to the nominal size of the valve. The ball shall clear the waterway providing "full fl ow" equal to the nominal size. It shall be non-clog in design. Q
