CAT GENERAL DUTY TRACK PERFORMANCE YOU CAN COUNT ON We recommend General Duty Undercarriage for your low-to-moderate impact applications where the elevated performance of the Cat Heavy Duty Undercarriage is not needed. While General Duty is built to different specifications than Heavy Duty, its design makes General Duty and Heavy Duty components interchangeable, eliminating any need for retrofitting and keeping downtime to a minimum. Cat Heavy Duty shoes can be installed on General Duty link assemblies to meet various customer requirements. Your dealer has excellent General Duty parts availability for fast turnaround time. General Duty Track Groups are stocked. General Duty offers a variety of track shoe options. In addition to undercarriage components, track shoe selection can impact traction and flotation as well as overall undercarriage wear life. For the conditions in which General Duty undercarriage will typically operate, extreme service shoes offer optimal performance and wear life. (General Duty extreme service shoes for track-type tractors will be available in preassembled track groups.) D9 General Duty comes with PPR, which prevents end-play generation (the outward movement of the links on the pin) and ensures oil retention in high-impact conditions. This combination creates a link assembly with more wear material and improved life. It will tackle the most rigorous terrain without breaking. POSITIVE PIN RETENTION (PPR) TRACK DESIGNED FOR MAXIMUM TRACK LIFE PPR Track features specially machined links and pins that allow for the use of a metal retaining ring. This ring is pressed into the groove between the pin and link, locking the joint to a predetermined factory end-play specification. Prevents end-play generation (the outward movement of the links on the pin) Oil Reservoir Stepped Bushing Track Link Ensures oil retention in high-impact conditions Pin This exclusive Caterpillar design is recommended for applications that generate high impact loading such as mining, heavy construction, demolition, and waste disposal. Rubber Stopper and Plug Oil Passage Rigid Seal Thrust Ring Positive Pin Retention Ring SCALLOP-RESISTANT UNDERCARRIAGE Scallop-resistant link assemblies for D10 and D11 Track-Type Tractors are recommended when additional resistance is needed to help reduce the rate of scalloping. Scalloping is the wear on the center area of the link rail, produced when the links engage the idler. Scalloping is also produced at the end of the link rail due to engagement with the rollers. As hours increase on the link, the rate of scalloping accelerates. Scalloping can negatively impact fine grade techniques and operator comfort and accelerate wear on other undercarriage components. It can also contribute to bogie pin failures and machine vibration. THE ANTI-SCALLOP SOLUTION Caterpillar designed scallop-resistant link assemblies with increased depth of hardness, resulting in reduced scallop wear. This leads to improvement in: Fine grading Overall machine operation Operator comfort Increased life throughout the undercarriage system Expected life gains can reach up to 18% compared to conventional Cat link assemblies. 8
HIGH ABRASION UNDERCARRIAGE FEATURING TOUGH STEEL LINKS Designed for D11 size machines, this undercarriage is ideal for abrasive conditions. The taller patented tough steel link combined with the patented bushing and patented sleeve bearing allows you to maximize the life of your components. This system allows many customers to achieve a 2 to 1 wear ratio between the links and bushings allowing for a bushing turn or a 1 to 1 wear ratio which allows run to destruction without a bushing turn. The need for a turn is dependent on application and conditions. 9
