Conveyor Belt Monitoring Boosting safety and efficiency of conveyor belts

Maximum conveyor belt safety and efficiency Conveyor belts are subjected to exceptionally high stress. Apart from countless bends, the belts suffer from permanent material loading impact, from worn, failing or wrongly adjusted conveyor parts, and from foreign objects - or simply from ageing. A failure or damage of the conveyor belt often has dramatic consequences. It is essential to detect such failures immediately when they occur, in order to be able to take appropriate measures before things get worse. The CBGuard is permanently recording all data, and comparing them with target values. Any critical damage automatically triggers an alarm. Its smart software not only generates a live video with marked deficiencies of the belt, but also tells you exactly what kind of damage it is, how severe it is and where it is. Belts can be operated up to their real safe limit. Real-time information - wherever you are. 2

Complete knowledge of conveyor belt condition An intelligent, complete analysis of any kind of threat to the belt is continuously generated. Arising damages, not still visible from the outside, for instance broken or corroded steel cords, trigger an alarm. Irregularities like holes, bubbles, foreign objects, protruding cords, edge damage, abnormal cover wear, even insufficient belt cleaning, are detected and signalled. The CBGuard Life Extender X6 measures the belt thickness and yields timely information about the upcoming need for a replacement belt. No other method available today delivers such a wealth of precise information about every detail of a conveyor belt. The condition of the belt can be observed from any place in the world in real-time over the internet. Preventing disastrous consequences Being the weakest points in conveyor belts, splices carry a higher risk to the operation. The CBGuard Life Extender is scanning all of the splices. Virtually no additional radiation from CBGuard y The CBGuard monitoring system uses radiographic technology, similar to that used in medical diagnostics. The X-ray generator produces electromagnetic radiation from electricity. The X-rays penetrate the conveyor belt, which is running through the system, and impinge on the detector panel. An amorphous silicon array generates electrical signals in proportion to the light received. The scanner software analyzes the greyscale images transferred at very high speed and assigns certain events to them. The radiation source is insulated. Outside the safety fence, the radiation is less than 1 µsv/h (microsievert per hour), which is approximately identical with the normal environmental radiation. Setting up a CBGuard y Life Extender is easy Its compact layout and low weight allows a simple and quick installation. It fits in almost all conveyors. The preferred place is in the bottom run. The belt runs flat through the CBGuard. Access to power and communication facilities as well as a concrete foundation, are required. Precautions like protection from weather, the installation of calming idler(s), an additional scraper or other measures may be required. It will automatically start and finish such inspection and produce a constantly updated report, listing the belt deficiencies.
