Low-density polyethylene serves as the basic material for all variants of XLPE material used in cable technology. Polyethylene has long been used as insulating and sheath material in cables, due to its excellent electrical and mechanical properties. Detail Vulcanized joints are used to joint XLPE cables above 5 kv in the field, and for marine cables between 1-170 kv. A vulcanized joint is made under high temperature and pressure.
