French National electro-mobility association Joseph Beretta Business opportunity and challenges

The Association history: After the first oil shock, the question of the independence of mobility to fossil was raised for the first time. the European commission has, to this end, pulsed in 1978 the creation of Avere Europe and a national section Avere-france, professional association for the development of electro mobility Missions: its mission is to foster and promote the acquisition and use of electric and hybrid vehicles, in stimulating and accompanying the deployment of electric mobility with local communities and businesses. Pole information and exchanges of expertise, it brings together the different players in the sector of electric and hybrid vehicles, industrial, commercial, institutional and associative areas. develop the network of associations regional Avere-france with as a aims to organise joint actions as well as to pool the experience feedback and good practices to bring the electro-mobility in the territories.

The members.

Avere-France mobilises all actors of the electro mobility ecosystem 45 members in 2007, 145 in 2015! o Manufacturers o Transport companies o Energy suppliers o Batteries Industry o Charging systems o Energy suppliers o Vehicle supply and maintenance o Universities and research organizations o Associations o Mobility operators o Vehicle users o Communities o Public o Businesses and other organizations o Banks and insurance o Public institutions and agencies o Consultancy companies o Others

Avere-France is member of European and World network

Challenges of the future

The challenges of automobile

The solution: electrification

The mutation of automobile

The main barriers To move on full-scale deployment of electric vehicles has been held back the main barriers: 1. the high retail prices of vehicles; 2. the low level of consumer acknowledge and acceptance; 3. the lack of recharging infrastructure

High Prices of EV/ EV incentives

Most important realisations of French EV program: Program of the 1st large bulk order of 50,000 electric vehicles EV car sharing or renting: Autolib Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon Auto bleu Nice,.. super bonus: 2012 5000 2013 7000 2014 6300 2015 6300 / 10000

EV Business and TCO(total cost of ownership) ICE* EV EV TCO is better to gasoline car (included subsidies)over 10 to 12,000km/year Lower maintenance costs Battery leasing * Internal combustion engine

Consumer acceptance and education

try to buy try it = adopt it Range still a barrier For 64% of French the average distance travelled per day is the electric car corresponds to the needs of mobility Avairage Range of EV is 120 km For French Driver EV is : Reliable Safe Practice

Electric mobility the usage cost of an electric vehicle is 7 times less than ICE vehicle The electro mobility moves forward of the French said to have the possibility to recharge their cars the purchase price a brake for the lack of charging infrastructure a brake for Event if Of French ready to buy EV having tested the electric car finds it economic A lack of information

Electric mobility retains its good image INNOVATIVE RESPECTFUL OF THE ENVIRONMENT AFFORDABLE

Lack of charge infrastructures

municipality Projects on public charging infrastructures Municipalities engagement for the deployment of public charging infrastructures 50M is allocate by government a total of more than 15,000 public terminals in project by 2015 from municipality 09 / 2015 2015 2013

Deployment of private charging infrastructure Bolloré 16 000 7kW charge points 2016-2019 La CNR 52 quick charge 2015-2017 EDF 200 quick charges on motorway 2015 à 2017. Private actors plan to develop 20 000 to 30 000 by 2018

Deployment of private charging infrastructure Corridor projects September 2015 10 000 charge points 2 % 50kW DC 13% 22KW AC 81% 3,5 KW AC

France speed up public charge network 2020? Number of Public terminal 2015 12 000 2017 30 000 100 000

Opportunities

EV is a connected vehicle Source Molecule

The challenges of Electric network Storage

Smart Grid: Internet of Electric Energy

EV & PHEV are the link between transport and electric energy solutions

The charge standardisation Complex and indispensable at world level!

Conclusions:

Conclusion 1/2 - EV market is a reality to day - A solution for tomorrow automotive & electric energy challenges - A cross benefit: more electricity is low CO2 more EV is clean - The link between this two world is the smart charger Importance of standardisation

Conclusion 2/2 - An image that remains positive - A lot communication work, pedagogy and democratisation to continue to Convert people to electric mobility - It s still needed aid - It s investment for the future Try it, it is to adopt it!

Thank for your attention
