ECS APPLIANCE NETWORK REQUIREMENTS ECS cntains 3 internal switches: Hare and Rabbit are 10GBE Arista switches. Turtle is 1GBE Arista switch. There are 2 netwrks in ECS: Prductin netwrk - 10 GbE Cnnected t the custmer prductin netwrk t serve data. Hare and Rabbit switches RMM netwrk 1 GbE It shuld be cnnected t the custmer netwrk fr management Used fr pwer cntrl and physical ndes management Turtle switch Number f Uplinks Prductin netwrk: A minimum f 2 cnnectins (1 per switch) and up t a maximum f 16 cnnectins (8 per switch) are supprted. RMM netwrk: 1 management cnnectin is needed. Uplink Transceivers Prductin netwrk: Transceivers can be RJ-45 ( fr 1GbE), 10GBASE-CR Cpper (10GbE) r 10GBASE-SRL SFP+ (10GbE). RMM netwrk: RJ-45 Uplink Speed Prductin netwrk: 1Gbit is supprted but 10Gbit cnnectins are recmmended. If perfrmance tests will be cnducted, 10Gbit netwrk cnnectins are mandatry. RMM netwrk: 1Gbit is needed. Uplinks Aggregatin Prductin netwrk: The ptimal cnfiguratin wuld be t cnfigure LACP n the custmer switch and MLAG n the Hare and Rabbit switches in the ECS rack. RMM netwrk: nt needed.
Here is an example f a recmmended switch cnfiguratin, with ne LACP between Hare and Rabbit uplinks (equivalent t the custmer side), and tw MLAG cnfiguratins, ne between the custmer switches and ne between the ECS nes. IP addresses Prductin netwrk: 1 per nde. RMM netwrk: 1 per nde. DNS Prductin netwrk: All IP Addresses must have A and PTR recrds fr frward and reverse lkup. RMM netwrk: DNS reslutin is ptinal. Other netwrk services The Gateway IP Address must respnd t ping, s crrespnding rules have t be applied n a FireWall (if applicable). Access t NTP server is required. Access t SMTP is required if emailing t a lcal team is needed. Access t ESRS server if needed. Active Directry/LDAP is required if multi-tenancy is used. An AD user with Read all inetorgpersn infrmatin permissins must be specified. ECS nde t nde cmmunicatin is cnfigured with an MTU set at 9000. If multiple racks will be used the netwrks between the racks must be able t supprt MTU 9000 traffic. LOAD BALANCERS A lad balancer is a critical piece fr ECS installatin in rder t evenly distribute lad acrss all ECS ndes. Custmers have several ptins including Manual IP allcatin, DNS Rund Rbin, Client- Side Lad Balancing, Lad Balancer Appliances, and Gegraphic Lad Balancers. The custmer is respnsible fr implementing lad balancers. The way t integrate a custmer s lad balancer slutin with ECS shuld be discussed with EMC individually.
