2018 OFFICIAL MINI MODIFIED DIVISION RULES NO EQUIPMENT WILL BE CONSIDERED AS HAVING BEEN APPROVED BECAUSE OF HAVING PASSED THROUGH INSPECTION UNOBSERVED. THE TECHNICAL DIRECTOR SHALL DETERMINE AS TO WHETHER ANY TYPE OF CONSTRUCTION, DESIGN OF INTERPRETATION OF ANY RULE SHALL BE ACCEPTED. AIRBORNE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO UPDATE, MODIFY, ADD OR DELETE RULES AT ANY TIME IN THE INTEREST OF PROVIDING PARITY FOR ALL COMPETITORS. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS MAY BE MADE VIA OFFICIAL ENTRY REGISTRATION, TECHNICAL BULLETIN, OR MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT. THIS AUTOMATICALLY AMENDS SPECIFICATIONS HEREIN. ALL CHANGES WILL BE POSTED.
1. All cars must be neat appearing. Cars should be painted with contrasting colors and appropriate lettering and numbers. 2. Maximum wheelbase is 104.5 3. No leaf spring cars permitted. 4. 4-cylinder engines only. No turbo or supercharged engines permitted. No trucks, sportscars, or convertibles will be allowed. Single Cam engines may run high output cam shafts. Dual cam must use stock cams. Must have stock intake, carburetor, throttle body etc. 2 1/2 exhaust maximum. Maximum compression allowed UP TO 9.8 to 1. Max overbore.020. Swapping of throttle body is allowed if direct bolt on; no adapter plates allowed. Windage tray allowed on bottom of motor, no trapped door or baffles allowed in oil pan. Only stock configuration computer allowed. 5. Any stock replacement coil 6. Only two-wheel drive cars permitted 7. All glass must be removed, must have metal DIRT style screen, one inch max. 7 max drop panel (visor) at top of wind screen 8. All exhaust must run behind the driver and dump under the car & downwards toward the track. Stock diameter exhaust. Mufflers may be required to meet 95DBA. 9. All doors must be welded shut. Hood and rear deck lid must have pull pin fasteners. 10. Front fenders may be removed. Front bumper may be shortened to frame width or may be replaced with a cow catcher (mod type bumper). Hood can be modified or replaced with a flat piece of steel or aluminum. Interior tin, wheel wells etc. may be removed from engine compartment. Struts may stay in stock location or can be mounted to the front roll bar hoop. Adjustable caster-camber plates allowed. Outside rub rail allowed up to 1 ½ diameter and must be flush with body. Must attach off rear main hoop and behind front tire. Must be tubular NO SQUARE TUBE ends must be capped and turned in. 11. 2018 will be the last season that you will be permitted to run the Mod or homemade bodies in this division. (2018 cars will be grandfathered) 12. Roll Cage Requirements A roll cage is mandatory and must consist of four uprights joined together at all four corners of the top. An X must be in place between the two rear uprights or horizontal bar between the 2 rear uprights, and then a diagonal bar may be put in place to join the top and bottom horizontal bars. Four horizontal bars running between the front and rear upright bracing required in the driver s side and may bow outward. Vertical bar pieces need to be welded in place between the hour horizontal bars.
Bars on the driver s side must be padded with roll bar closed cell foam padding. Top of seat must be mounted rigidly to roll cage. E. A minimum of three horizontal bars or an X is required on the passenger side. F. A horizontal bar between the two front uprights at, just above or just below dashboard level is required. If necessary, the plastic housing around the steering column shaft may be cut or removed to accommodate this horizontal bar. G. Roll cage tubing must be at least 1 ¾ O.D. and a minimum of.095 wall thickness. No splices in the main cage. May have two rear diagonal bars running from the top of the rear main cage hoop back to the floor board for additional support. H. The roll cage may not alter the geometry of the car. I. All pipes and bars must be professionally welded all the way around at every joint. Any vehicle with welds deemed by the Technical Officials to be unsafe will not be allowed to compete. J. All vehicles WITH FRAMES must have the cage welded directly to the frame and not the floorboards. K. All unibody cars must use ¼ thick x 2 angle iron or ¼ flat plate steel on top and bottom floorboard sandwiching together. Plate steel must be welded and bolted together using ½ grade 5 or better bolts with lock nuts when securing the roll cage to floorboard. 13. Rear bumper maybe 1 ½ tubing but must be mounted close to the car and have a minimum of two safety chains or straps. Tow chains mandatory front and rear, minimum 3/8 chain for wrecker hook up. 14. All body panels must remain stock for makes and model year. Body option: outside panels made be replaced with straight steel panels to replicate the looks of a DIRT Modified. Inside panels must be kept in place along with floorboard. The roof may be replaced also. 15. Seat must be an aluminum seat and mounted to the roll cage only. A support seat brace must be installed at the rear of the seat, to the head rest min. area. 4 bolts required in bottom of seat & 2 behind seat. 16. Splash guard required behind driver, made of Lexan. 17. Passenger seat and rear seat must be removed. 18. Original stock floorboards must remain in place; any holes will be patched with sheet metal. Floor upholstery must be removed. 19. Batteries must remain under the hood and be covered and secured with a strap. 20. Stock fuel tank or an 8-gallon maximum fuel cell. Installation must be approved by the tech officials. Fuel cell must be centered. Stock tank allowed if mounted in stock position in front of rear axle. + Fuel tank must be mounted with minimum two 1 wide steel straps. Fuel pump must be stock and shut off with ignition. 21. Everything about the vehicle must remain stock for the year, make and model except what is in the rule above. Engine, transmission, and rear end must remain stock. No welding or cutting of springs, or pockets. 22. Must have fuel pressure shut off. Standardized ignition part numbers: PS 126, 127, 135
23. Tires: Sumic GT60 24. One-inch lug nut mandatory on all studs with 45-degree Chamfer lug nuts 25. Any stock wheel permitted in 14 diameter, width, and offset. Stock right side wheels must be re-enforced Aftermarket racing wheels allowed and recommended 14x7 only All four wheels must be matching in diameter, width and offset 4 offset only Maximum camber allowed on any wheel 5 degrees + or measured with official gauge. No grinding of strut bolts or any other suspension part to achieve camber. Stock Brakes only. All four brakes must work. Any spring combination. Spring must be stock appearing. Price limit $65.00 per spring. 4 ½ in min ride height. Transmission must be Factory stock for make and model. Automatic or manual allowed. No posi-traction allowed. No Mopar STR Turbo Transmissions allowed. Stock diameter clutch and flywheel made of steel only. NO MACHINEING All added ballast must be made of lead and painted white and must include car #. No threaded rod. All ballast ahead of rear axle line and above or inside uni-body frame. A working fire extinguisher must be properly secured in each car and be within reach of driver. Stock dash frame must remain in place, but can be covered with aluminum. Steering wheel center must be padded. Roll bars within the reach of the driver must be padded. Windows nets are mandatory. 5-point seat belt harness is mandatory. Driver s fire suits and gloves are mandatory. 26. A working fire extinguisher must be in each competitor s pit area. 27. There is a minimum weight rule: 2200 lbs. for Single Cams and 2400 lbs. for Dual Cams. Any car with struts relocated or caster-camber plates added must add 100 lbs. (this is in addition to above weight requirements). 28. Driver safety belts must be no older than 3 years old. 29. RACE FORMAT: Format for all events shall be 15 laps or 15 minutes or as determined by Airborne Track Officials. In some instances, where time is an issue, heat races may be eliminated. In that case Airborne, may opt for adding more laps to the feature. Line ups will be used from handicap position as outlined in general procedures. 30. It is required that you have a Raceiver Radio so that Race Control can speak to you if necessary. Radios can be ordered through Behrents. There will be NO radios available for purchase/rental through the track. Two-way radios are prohibited. It will be required by ALL divisions the FIRST race. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! 31. No tire softening allowed. Chemical treating of tires is NOT allowed.

IF ANY ITEM BEING CONSIDERED BY COMPETITOR IN THIS DIVISION IS NOT ADRESSED IN THESE RULES, COMPETITOR IS REQUIRED TO CONTACT AIRBORNE FOR A JUDGEMENT AS TO ITS ACCEPTABILITY. TRACK PROMOTER WILL HAVE FINAL SAY ON RULES, PROCEDURES AND REGULATIONS. THE RULES AND OR REGULATIONS SET FORTH HEREIN ARE DESIGNED TO PROVIDE FOR THE ORDERLY CONDUCT OF RACING EVENTS AND TO ESTABLISH MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCH EVENTS. THESE RULES SHALL GOVERN THE CONDITION OFF ALL EVENTS, AND BY PARTICIPATING IN THESE EVENTS ALL PARTICIPANTS ARE DEEMED TO HAVE OBTAINED, READ AND UNDERSTOOD A COPY OF THE CURRENT RULES, AND COMPLIED WITH THESE RULES. NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATION OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE TULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. THEY ARE INTENDED AS A GUIDE FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE SPORT AND ARE IN NO WAY A GUARANTEE AGAINST INJURY OR DEATH TO A PARTICIPANT, SPECTATOR, OR OFFICIAL. THE INTERPRETATION AND INVOKING OF THE RULES PUBLISHED HEREIN SHALL BE DETEREMINED BY THE OFFICALS AT THEIR PROFESSIONAL DISCRETION.
