INSTALLATION & OWNER S MANUAL CAB INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR MASSEY FERGUSON 233, 428v (gear), 428v (hydro) SOFT SIDED CAB ENCLOSURE (p/n: MF233SS) This Curtis Cab is designed and manufactured for use only as reasonable weather protection. This cab is not applicable, nor should the cab be considered as protection against roll over, collision or other accidents that may result. This cab is NOT a R.O.P.S. cab. Extreme care should be taken when operating and by qualified, experienced operators only. The contents of this envelope are the property of the owner. Be sure to leave with the owner when installation is complete. Exposure to Carbon Monoxide can cause illness, serious injury or death. Never operate vehicle if suspicious of Carbon Monoxide. Inspect exhaust system for leaks monthly. Leaks can result from loose connections, corrosion, cracks or other damage to the exhaust manifold. If leaks are found, repair or replace exhaust system. HEARING PROTECTION REQUIRED WHEN OPERATING TRACTOR CAB INSTALLATION BEFORE YOU START HELPFUL REMINDERS: A. Leave all bolts loose for later adjustment unless otherwise specified. B. Read and understand all instructions before beginning. C. Plastic washers have been supplied to provide a weather seal around all exterior fasteners. The plastic washer should be installed under each bolt head directly against the outside cab surface. Care should be taken not to over tighten the fasteners and damage the plastic washer. Also, use metal washers as required. D. Apply a clear silicone sealant to seal any minor gaps that may occur due to vehicle variances. For example, front supports to unitized frames. NOTE This cab will not fit with loader-mounted valve control. It must have the fender-mounted control if there is a loader installed.. VEHICLE PREP. On the 233, and 428v (gear), remove the following items: two outer pins securing the floorboard on each side (see Fig..), and the rear warning lights and cup holder (shown in Fig...)..2 On the 428v (hydro), remove the following items: rear warning lights, cup holder, step, floorboard extensions, and cross brace cover (see Fig..2). NOTE: after removing the cross brace cover, re-install the two seat belt storage brackets as they were before. pins Fig.. Fig... Fig..2 p. 3 of 8

2. FLOORBOARD MOUNTS ONLY FOR 233, AND 428v GEAR; NOT FOR 428v HYDRO 2. Temporarily remove the J shaped cable strap from underneath the floorboard on the passenger s side. 2.2 Install the floorboard mounts to the underside of the tractor floorboard. (see fig. 2.) Fasten in place using the 8 x.25 x 20mm long metric bolts and lockwashers (4 per side). Metal rails on each side are pretapped. * TIGHTEN IN A LIFTED POSITION. 2.3 Re-install the J shaped cable strap that was removed in step 2.. 3. FLOORBOARDS Fig. 2.2 ONLY FOR 233, AND 428v GEAR; NOT FOR 428v HYDRO 3. Install the floorboards to the floorboard and floorboard mounts. (see fig. 3.) Fasten in place with two 5/6 x -/2 carriage bolts, washers, and locknuts through the tractor floorboard and rubber bushings where the pins were removed during VEHICLE PREP (ref.: step.). 4. REAR MOUNT 4. Install the rear mount as shown, bolting in place with two 8 x.25 x 20mm long bolts and lockwashers into pre-threaded holes (see Fig. 4.). 4.2 On 428v (hydro) only, use washers as spacers on the left side of the bracket where shown in Fig. 4.2 so the clamping bracket remains parallel to the rear mount. Also, on the hydro only, install the S.M.V. bracket to the rear mount as shown in Fig. 4.2.. Use two 5/6 x 3/4 long carriage bolts, lockwashers, and nuts. 5. FRONT COWL ASSEMBLY (NOTE: Use plastic washers underneath carriage bolt heads on all exterior locations. The purpose of the plastic washers installed between the bolt head and the cab exterior surface is to provide a weather seal. Do not over tighten this hardware, which could damage the washers.) 5. On a padded surface, install the front fillers to the cowl using four 5/6 x 3/4 carriage bolts, plastic washers, and locknuts. Align the sides and snug bolts. (see fig. 5.) 5.2 Beginning at the lower edge of one front filler, press on the bulb rubber seal provided. Continue up and around the inside of the cowl and down the opposite filler. Trim off excess (see Fig. 5.). 5.3 Place the cowl assembly onto the tractor with the cowl fitting over the dash of the tractor (see fig. 5.3). 5.4 FOR 233, AND 428v (GEAR) ONLY, install bolt down through tab on front filler and through floorboard as shown in Fig. 5.3. (NOTE: on 428v, this bolt hole is not used). bulb rubber Fig. 5. 6. SIDE FRAMES 6. Remove the doors from the side frames by unlatching and sliding up and off the pin hinges. 6.2 Install the side frames to the vehicle. Set the base onto the floorboard. Be sure that the cowl assembly is in front of the side frame. Bolt in place to the rear mount and to the cowl assembly using 5/6 x 3/4 carriage bolts, washers, and nuts. Repeat for other side. (see fig. 6.2) 6.3 On 233, and 428v (gear), secure the side frame to the floorboard using three bolts through the side as shown in Fig. 6.3. 6.4 On 428v (hydro), secure side frame to floorboard using two bolts down through the floorboard as shown in Fig. 6.4. 7. WINDSHIELD SUPPORT 7. Install the windshield support between the two side frames, bolting in place using two 5/6 x 3/4 long carriage bolts, washers, and locknuts in the two lower holes only (see Fig. 7.). NOTE: hardware will be installed in the top holes of the windshield support during roof installation. 8. WINDSHIELD 8. With assistance, install the windshield. (see fig. 8.) Bolt into place with four Flathead 5/6 x -/2 S.S. bolts, washers, and locknuts. Install spacer block between hinge and windshield support. (see fig. 8..) DO NOT TIGHTEN BOLTS. 8.2 Attach the windshield latches as shown (see fig. 8.2). Align the edges of the windshield with the side frames and tighten hinge bolts. HINGES ARE PLASTIC COMPONENTS. 9. ROOF 9. With assistance, install the roof and bolt in place using 5/6 x 3/4 carriage bolts, plastic washers, and locknuts. (see fig. 9.) 0. VINYL DOORS 0. Install vinyl doors onto hinges. Work the doors back and forth until the hinges are completely seated. NOTE: the hinges and the striker bolts can also be adjusted for proper engagement.. VINYL REAR CURTAIN & VINYL WINDOWS. Install vinyl rear curtain by snapping to the inside of the roof top..2 Velcro the sides of the vinyl rear curtain to the inside of the side frames after wrapping around the outside edges of the side frame (see Fig..2). Velcro the bottom of the vinyl rear curtain to the top of the rear mount. (NOTE: the supplied adhesive-backed, hook velcro should be applied to a clean, dry surface at room temperature)..3 Velcro the vinyl side windows to the inside of the side frames as well as to the exposed hook velcro on the sides of the vinyl rear curtain. 2. REAR LIGHT BRACKETS 2. Install each of the two rear light brackets as shown with the narrow end fastened to the gusset on the vehicle, and the wide end of the bracket outboard for the light to mount to (see Fig. 2.). Use 7/6 bolts, washers, and nuts. 2.2 Rewire the lights as they were before removing them in VEHICLE PREP step.2 or.3. 3. PLASTIC NUT COVERS 3. Care and Maintenance Instructions Check and tighten hardware after 40 hours of operation. Periodically inspect and tighten hardware for the remainder of the unit s life. Wash the painted surfaces of the unit with commercial automotive cleaning products. Clean windows with glass cleaner. Vinyl components should be washed with a mild solution of warm soapy water. Clear vinyl can be easily scratched. Be careful cleaning frost or snow from windows. Do not roll curtains in cold weather. The windows become stiff and may crack. Keep windows clean. p. 7 of 8
