Operating Instructions SATA jet3000 K spray mix Preface Prior to putting the unit/paint spray gun into operation, read the operating instructions completely and thoroughly. The stipulations contained therein are to be respected in any case. After that, the operating instructions are to be stored in a safe place, accessible for every user of the equipment. The unit/paint spray gun may only be put into operation by persons familiar with its use (professionals). Inappropriate use of the unit/paint spray gun, modification of any kind or combination with inappropriate other parts may cause material damage, serious hazard to the user s, other person s or animal s health or even death. SATA shall not take any responsibility for such damages (e.g. failure to respect the stipulations laid out in the operating instructions). The applicable safety, workplace and worker health protection regulations of the respective country or area/district in which the system/the paint spray gun is used are to be respected in any case (e.g. the German Rules for the Prevention of Accidents BGR 500 issued by the Central Office of the Professional Trade Associations, etc.). SATA, SATAjet, the SATA Logo and/or other SATA products referenced herein are either registered trademarks or trademarks of SATA GmbH & Co. KG in the U.S. and/or other countries. The names of companies and products mentioned herein may be the trademarks of their respective owners. english To be noted Never point paint spray guns at yourself, at other persons or animals. Solvents and thinners can cause burns. Only the respective quantities of solvents and paints required for work progress may be present in the direct surroundings of the unit (after work, solvents and paints are to be returned to their assigned storage rooms). Prior to any repair work the unit must be disconnected from the air supply. Prior to putting the unit into operation, especially after each cleaning and each repair work, check all screws and nuts for tight fit, as well as the sealing performance of the spray guns and hoses. Defective components must be replaced or repaired accordingly. To obtain best possible coating results, and for maximum safety, only use original spare parts. No sources of ignition (e.g. open flames, burning cigarettes, lamps without ex-protection etc.) may be present during painting, as easily flammable mixture are generated during the painting process. Occupational safety regulations must be applied when painting (respiratory protection, etc.). Appropriate ear protection muffs are required, as a sound level of 90 db(a) is exceeded when coating with higher pressure levels. No vibration is transmitted to the upper parts of the operator s body during use of the paint spray gun. Recoil forces are negligible. The use of this product in explosion hazard areas Zone 0 is prohibited. 1. Scope of Delivery and technical Data (General) 1.1 Scope of Delivery a. Art. No.: 120 006 SATAjet 3000 K spray mix, cpl. with paint tube and strainer (100 msh), all material passages are made of stainless steel. The SATAjet 3000 K spray mix is equipped with: Round/flat spray control, air cap, pre-nozzle, paint needle tip with ball sealing made of hard metal as well as a trigger block avoiding erroneous trigger pulls and a tool kit. The paint nozzle is not included in the scope of delivery. It has to be ordered separately (see list on page 10 for selection). b. Art. No.: 120 014 SATAjet 3000 K spray mix, cpl. with inversion switch air cap Further equipment is listed under a. The inversion switch has to be ordered separately (see list on page 10 for selection). 1.2 Technical Data Air connection G 1/4 Material connection G 1/4 Max. operating pressure air 10 bar/145 psi (1 MPa) Max. operating temperature material 50 C Max. operating pressure material 250 bar/3626 psi Air consumption round and flat air cap Flat fan 120 Nl/min/4.2 cfm at 3 bar/43.5 psi Round fan 310 Nl/min/10.9 cfm at 3 bar/43.5 psi Further product range and accessories Filter system SATA filter 400 Respirators (half masks and full face respirators) Material pump 14:1 Material pump 32:1 Strainer 60 msh, 100 msh und 200 msh 2. Functional Description The paint spray gun SATAjet 3000 K spray mix has been designed for the application of stains, glazes and paints as well as other liquid media in combination with airless pumps up to a spray viscosity which can be still displayed in the DIN 4 cup (the nozzle size is depending on the spray viscosity). Abrasive materials and materials containing acid or gasoline may not be applied with this spray gun. The required air pressure is supplied at the air connection in the spray gun handle. The air valve opens (pre-air control) when pulling the trigger to the first pressure point. Pulling the trigger further pulls out the paint needle from the paint nozzle. Under pressure, the material flows out of the paint nozzle and is atomised by the compressed air which comes out of the air cap at the same time. 3. Construction 1 Paint nozzle (not within the scope of delivery) 2 Self tensioning needle packing (not visible) 3 Trigger 4 Self tensioning air piston packing (not visible) 5 Stepless regulation for round and flat spray 6 Air connection G ¼ outside 7 Air piston (not visible) 8 Air micrometer 9 Material pick-up tube with integrated material filter 10 Trigger block 11 Locking screw IX.2

4. Putting into Operation Before putting into operation, and especially after each cleaning and any repair work, check to see that all screws and nuts are tight. This especially applies to the closing screw, the round/flat spray control (pos. 5) and for the locking screw (pos. 11) of the air micrometer. The paint spray gun has been treated with an anticorrosive agent before leaving the factory and must therefore be flushed out thoroughly with thinner before use. For servicing/repair work of any kind, the system must be devoid of pressure, i.e. disconnected from the air supply. Failure to respect this safety warning may result in damage and injuries, even death at worst. SATA does not take any responsibility for possible results of such failure. Material connection: a) Connect material hose of pressure pot, respectively pump to the spray gun. b) Adjust requested atomisation pressure with pulled trigger. Then adjust material feed pressure with pulled trigger. Please check spray pattern on paper or other suitable substrate and adjust pressure accordingly, if necessary. english 4.1 Clean Spray air...best obtained by using a combi fine filter unit with integrated pressure regulator, for rough spray pressure adjustment. Due to high pressure drop in the air hose/coupling, the actual dynamic air pressure should be checked and fine-adjusted at the spray gun air inlet. Art. No. 92296 4.2 Sufficient air volume...obtained by an appropriate compressor, large air line diameters and, to avoid too much pressure drop, an air hose with minimum 9 mm inner diameter in antistatic and pressure-resistant version and free from substances affecting the painting result. Blow out the air hose before attaching it to the air connection (G 1/4 ext.). The air hose must be pressure-resistant for min. 145 psi and solvent-resistant. Total electric resistance: < 100 million Ohm. Art. No. 53090 (Length 10m) - (non-resistant against petrol and oil) 4.3 Air micrometer For maximum air flow, fully open integrated Micrometer, i.e. put into vertical position III. By means of the variable adjustable air micrometer the internal spray gun presure can be set directly at the gun. Connect the spray gun to the air supply, pull the trigger and adjust the requested spray gun internal pressure. IX.3

Note: - Micrometer in vertical position (position III - parallel to the gun body) = maximum atomization and maximum internal spray gun pressure (identical with spray gun inlet pressure) - Position I or II (across gun body) = minimum atomization, minimum internal spray gun pressure (for spot repair, speckling etc.) Attention: While the spray gun is connected to the air supply, the air micrometer fixing screw, pos. 11, must not be removed. When the fixing screw is removed, the spray gun must not be put into operation.! 4.4 Correct adjustment of the dynamic inlet pressure a) Spray gun with micrometer / gauge Ensure sufficient pressure by means of the pressure regulator. Adjust the recommended inlet pressure of 1,5-2,0 bar/22-29 psi at the micrometer. Art. No. 27771 b) Spray gun equipped with compressed air control gauge Adjust the pressure at the pressure regulator in a way that the spray gun inlet pressure required for the respective gun model is obtained. Art. No. 4002 c) Spray gun without gauge In order to make a correct adjustment of the spray gun inlet pressure, as otherwise measureable in a) to b), without a gauge, adjust a pressure of about 9 psi higher per 10 m to inlet pressure to compensate the pressure drop in the hose. IX.4

4.6 Round/flat spray control Round/flat spray control for right-handed painters for infinitely variable adaptation of the spray fan to the object: Turn to the left - round spray Turn to the right - flat spray 4.7 Spray distance To avoid overspray and surface problems, make sure to paint with the correct spraying distance between gun nozzle and the object to be painted and to adjust the spray gun inlet pressure accordingly. Spray distance Gun inlet pressure 18-25 cm/7-10 inches 2,0-3,0 bar/29-43.5 psi english 5. Exchange of the paint nozzle Please block the trigger with the trigger block when exchanging the nozzle. Unscrew air cap ring, remove air cap with paint nozzle and insert the new paint nozzle. Please make sure that the pin snaps into the groove of the paint nozzle. Attach air cap and tighten it with the air cap ring. 6. Exchange of paint needle, resp. paint needle tip Unscrew closing screw (98418) from the spray gun body and remove pressure spring (18341), unscrew air cap ring (98665) and remove air cap (98459) together with the inserted paint nozzle. Unscrew pre-nozzle (98434). Press spanner (15925) against paint needle tip and unscrew paint needle with screwdriver. Remove paint needle from spray gun body with a rotating movement. If necessary, also replace seal retainer (98525). Please make sure that the surface of the sealing is undamaged. In case of damage, please replace. Reassemble in reverse order. Please make sure that paint needle is not damaged or replace it, if necessary. Please note: Never mount the pre-nozzle (98434) to a paint needle tip which is under pressure, but either remove compression spring (18341) or pull the trigger. Only original spare parts guarantee perfect quality and longest lifetime. Use punched hexagon socket (SW12) of the universal wrench for the paint nozzle. Using components of other manufacturers may result in a reduction in quality and the SATA Warranty expires or it may be hazardous to your health. 7. Changing the self-adjusting seals a) Material side: The paint needle is sealed by a self-adjusting Teflon sealing. Use enclosed socket wrench for an exchange of the packing. Exchange entire seal retainer (98525) (see paragraph 6). b) Air side: Please remove paint needle and trigger first before exchanging the seal retainer (133942) for the air piston rod. Pull out air piston rod and unscrew seal retainer (133942) with socket wrench SW4. Install new seal retainer and tighten hand-screwed. Grease air piston rod slightly with spray gun grease 48173 before installation. Then assemble trigger and paint needle. IX.5

8. Cleaning and maintenace Never use force. Using improper tools such as pliers, etc. will void any warranty. In many cases proper repairs can only be carried out with the aid of special tools. In such cases, limit yourself to establishing the cause of the problem and leave the repairs to the service department. We refuse to accept liability for perfect functioning of the spray gun if it is disassembled by the customer. a) Flush out the gun thoroughly with thinner or cleaning fluid. b) Clean the air nozzle with a paint brush or brush. Do not immerse the nozzle in thinner or cleaning fluid. c) Under no circumstances try to clean clogged drillings using an unsuitable tool, since the slightest amount of damage adversely affects the spray pattern. Use SATA nozzle cleaning needles ((included in cleaning kit 64030). d) Only remove the black air distribution ring (Art. No. 97824 / set of 3) in the gun head in case it is damaged (no sealing performance at the paint nozzle). Following removal, always insert a new air distribution ring to ensure flawless function. Insert new air distribution ring in its correct position and tighten paint nozzle again. Respect mounting instructions for the air distribution ring (see 6.1)! e) Slightly oil movable parts with SATA special grease (Art. No. 10009). Should the material connection 98608 in the spray gun body loosen when removing the material tube 98590, respectively, please proceed as follows: Remove material connection 98590 completely Pull out the insert 98509 from the spray gun via the paint nozzle and remove paint nozzle Plug in insert 98509 aligned with drilling for the material connection Seal material connection with Loctite 276 and install, required locking torque 30 Nm A mounting instruction of the air distribution ring can be found as a PDF and as a video on our homepage www.sata.com/media. Also more information on spray gun cleaning can be obtained from a video. Important Notice: Gun may be cleaned with solvent or cleaning agents manually or in a conventional gun washing machine. The following actions damage the gun/system, may lead to the loss of the explosion-proofness approval and entirely annull any warranty claims: - Immersing the gun in solvent or cleaning agents, or for a period longer than required for the cleaning process as such - Storing the gun inside the gun washing machine - Cleaning the gun by means of ultrasound cleaning systems - Exerting violent, inappropriate treatment IX.6
