GB Notes on Operation In order to protect your baby properly, it is essential to use and install the Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX as described in these operating instructions. In Porsche vehicles, we recommend using the Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX in combination with the ISOFIX attachment and the support leg. Observe the safety notes in the chapter Child restraint systems of the Driver s Manual when using the Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX. Safety Notes for Airbags ddanger Passenger airbags can cause severe or mortal injuries to children when they are triggered. f In all vehicles, it is impermissible to use the child seat on the front passenger seat without deactivating the passenger airbag. f Switch the passenger airbag off using the key switch if you use the child seat on the front passenger seat. General Safety Notes ddanger Danger of severe or mortal injuries if there are unsecured persons or objects in the vehicle. Make sure that f the backrest of the vehicle is locked. f all heavy and sharp-edged parts in the vehicle are secured. f all people in the vehicle are secured. dwarning Loss of safety function. f Regularly inspect all important parts for signs of damage. Make sure that the mechanical components function properly. f The child seat must not be used without a cover. Make sure to use only a genuine cover, because the cover is an essential part of the system function. f Always have a damaged child seat (e.g. after being dropped, etc.) checked by the manufacturer. GB dwarning Deactivated passenger airbags do not provide any protection in an accident. f Reactivate the passenger airbag after removing the child seat. ddanger Side airbags can cause severe or mortal injuries to children when they are triggered. f Make sure that the head of your child can not come near the side airbag when the child leans out of the child seat. f f the child seat is always secured in the vehicle, even if no child is being transported. there are no objects in the footwell in front of the child seat. ddanger! Danger of severe injuries if you change the direction of travel abruptly, brake sharply or have an accident. f If you use the child seat on the rear seat, move the front seat as far forward as possible, so that the child does not come into contact with the front seat. f Position the front seat backrest vertically. f An accident with an impact speed of more than 10 km/h (6 mph) can cause damage to the child seat that is not necessarily obvious. Always have this child seat checked by the manufacturer and replace it if necessary. ddanger Danger of burns by hot plastic parts on the child seat if the seat was exposed to the sun. f Protect the child seat against exposure to intense sunlight. ddanger Danger of severe or mortal injuries if the child seat is not installed properly. f Never fasten the child seat with a two-point seat belt. Notes dnotes f Please observe the corresponding safety notes on using a child seat in the vehicle. These notes are contained in the chapter Child restraint systems in the Driver s Manual of your vehicle. f Do not leave your child alone in the vehicle. f Allow your child to enter and exit the vehicle only on the pavement side. f The child seat must be used exclusively to secure your child in the vehicle. It is not suitable as a regular seating accommodation or a toy. f Using the child seat can produce signs of wear on some sensitive car seats (e.g. leather). To avoid this, you can place a blanket or a towel underneath the child seat. f Make sure that the child seat is not trapped between hard parts (vehicle door, seat rails, etc). f Please refer to your vehicle s Driver s Manual for information on how to use the ISOFIX mounting points in your vehicle. f On vehicles with a folding backrest, the insertion aids must be removed before the backrest is folded. 38 Safety Notes

Approval Child seat Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX Testing and approval according to ECE* R 44/04 Group Weight 1 9 to 18 kg (20 to 40 lbs.) *ECE = European standard for safety equipment f The Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX has been designed, tested and approved according to the requirements of the European standard for child restraint equipment. The test symbol and the approval number are on the approval label (sticker on the child seat). Use in the Vehicle The Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX is approved for two different types of installation: A) with ISOFIX fastening system and support leg (semi-universal) Fastening with ISOFIX and support leg is subject to a semi-universal approval. The seat may be used only in vehicles that are listed in the enclosed vehicle type list. The type list is updated on an ongoing basis. The latest version is available in the Tequipment area of our homepage: www.porsche.com in the direction of travel opposite the direction of travel yes no B) with three-point seat belt of the vehicle and support leg (semi-universal) Fastening with three-point seat belt and support leg is subject to a semi-universal approval. Installing Child Seat with ISOFIX Fastening System 2. Grasp the green handle (3) and pull the locking arms (4) out to the lock. 3. Unfold the support leg (40). 4. Hold the child seat with both hands. 1. Clip the two insertion aids (1) with the opening facing up onto the two ISOFIX fastening points (2). Note In the case of vehicles with a folding backrest, the insertion aids must be removed prior to folding. 40 Operation

Danger of severe or mortal injuries if the locking arms are not engaged properly. f The green markings (7) must be visible on the locking buttons (5) on both sides. f Before every journey, check whether the locking arms are engaged properly. GB Dd GB 5. Press the grey locking buttons (5) on the left and right sides of the seat lower section (12). Note This ensures that both hooks of the locking arms (4) are open. 6. Push both locking arms (4) into the insertion aids until the locking arms engage on both sides with an audible click. Operation 41

7. Pull on the Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX child seat to check whether it is engaged on both sides. 8. Press the orange tensioning button (8) and push the Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX child seat against the backrest of the vehicle. 9. Turn the knob (39) counter-clockwise and pull the support leg (40) out until it rests securely on the vehicle floor. Then turn the knob in the opposite direction to lock. Note The support leg (40) must never be unsupported or rest on objects. Make sure that the support leg does not lift the child seat off the vehicle seat surface. 42 Operation

Dd GB Removing Child Seat with ISOFIX Fastening System 1. Turn the knob (39) counter-clockwise and push the support leg (40) fully together again. 2. Press the grey locking buttons (5) on the left and right sides of the seat lower section (12). The locking arms (4) disengage. 3. Press the orange tensioning button (8) and simultaneously push the locking arms (4) back into the seat lower section (12). 4. Fold the support leg onto the bottom of the seat lower section. 5. Remove the child seat. 6. Remove the insertion aids. Operation 43

Proper Installation of Child Seat with ISOFIX Fastening System In the interests of your child s safety, ensure that the locking arms (4) of the Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX child seat are securely engaged in the vehicle s ISOFIX fastening points (2) on both sides and the green marking (7) is visible on both locking buttons (5). the support leg (40) rests securely on the floor without lifting the child seat off the vehicle seat surface. Installing Child Seat with Three-Point Seat Belt 1. Unfold the support leg (40). 2. Place the Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX child seat on the vehicle seat in the direction of travel. 3. Push the adjusting handle (10) up and pull the seat shell (11) forward to the idle position. 44 Operation

Dd GB 4. Pull the three-point seat belt out and guide it through between the seat shell (11) and the seat lower section (12). 5. Insert the belt tongue of the three-point seat belt into the vehicle buckle until it audibly clicks into place. 6. Place the lap belt (14) into the light red belt guides (15) on both sides of the seat lower section (12). 7. Tighten the lap belt (14) by pulling on the diagonal belt (16). Operation 45

8. Swivel down the clamping lever (17) of the dark red belt clamp (18) on the side of the vehicle buckle (13). 9. Place the diagonal belt (16) into the belt clamps. Note Do not twist the belt. 10.Place the diagonal belt (16) into the dark red belt guide (40) on the other side. Note Do not twist the belt. 11.Use your knee to press the Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX child seat into the vehicle seat and forcefully pull on the diagonal belt (16) at the same time. 12.Swivel up the clamping lever (17) until it engages. Note The diagonal belt (16) must be clamped only with the belt clamp located on the side of the vehicle buckle (13). 46 Operation

Dd GB 13.Turn the knob (39) counter-clockwise and pull the support leg (40) out until it rests securely on the vehicle floor. Then turn the knob in the opposite direction to lock. Note The support leg (40) must never be unsupported or rest on objects. Make sure that the support leg does not lift the child seat off the vehicle seat surface. 14.Push the adjusting handle (10) up and push the seat shell (11) back again. 15.Pull on the child seat to ensure that it is securely installed. Removing Child Seat with Three-Point Seat Belt 1. Turn the knob (39) counter-clockwise and push the support leg (40) fully together again. Operation 47

1. Push the adjusting handle (10) up and pull the seat shell (11) forward to the idle position. 2. Open the vehicle buckle (13). 3. Now open the belt clamp (18) on the side of the vehicle buckle. 4. Take the three-point seat belt (16) out of the belt guides. 5. Fold the support leg onto the bottom of the seat lower section. 6. The child seat can now be removed. Proper Installation of the Child Seat with Three-Point Seat Belt In the interests of your child s safety, ensure that the Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX is securely installed in the vehicle. the three-point seat belt is taut and not twisted. the lap belt (14) passes through the two light red belt guides (15) and the diagonal belt (16) is clamped only with the dark red belt clamp (18) located on the side of the vehicle buckle (13). 48 Operation

Dd GB the diagonal belt (16) passes through the dark red belt guide (40) located on the opposite side of the vehicle buckle. the belt tongue and the vehicle buckle (13) of the three-point seat belt must not lie in the belt guide (15) of the Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX child seat. the support leg rests securely on the vehicle floor without lifting the child seat off the vehicle seat surface. Adapting the Headrest A correctly adapted headrest (20) provides ideal support for your child in the Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX child seat. The headrest (20) must be adjusted so that the shoulder belts (19) are at the height of your child s shoulders or slightly higher. Adjusting the Headrest 1. Loosen the belts as much as possible (refer to section Buckling in your Child, step 1). 2. Tilt the headrest (20) forward. The headrest adjuster (21) is now unlocked. 3. Move the headrest (20) to the correct shoulder belt height. 4. Tilt the headrest (20) back to the seat shell (11) again to re-lock the headrest adjuster. 50 Operation

Dd GB Buckling in your Child 1. Press the adjusting button (22) and pull the two shoulder belts (19) forward at the same time. dcaution! Pulling on the shoulder pads to loosen the shoulder belts could damage the shoulder pads. f Do not pull on the shoulder pads (23). 2. Open the buckle (24) by pressing the red button. 3. Insert the belt tongues (25) into the rubber holders (26). 4. Put your child into the Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX child seat. 5. Disengage the belt tongues (25) again. 6. Guide the shoulder belts (19) over your child s shoulders. ddanger! Danger of injury if the shoulder belts are twisted or interchanged. f Do not twist or interchange the shoulder belts. 7. Bring the two belt tongues (25) together... Operation 51

8.... and insert the belt tongues into the buckle (24) until they engage with an audible click. dwarning! The lap belts can severely injure your child if they are positioned too high. f The lap belts (28) must pass as low as possible over the groin of your child. 9. Tighten the belts until they are snug against the body. To do this, pull the belt end (29) out straight. Securing your Child properly In the interests of your child s safety, ensure that... the belts of the Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX child seat are snug without constricting your child. the shoulder belts (19) are adjusted correctly. the belts are not twisted. the belt tongues (25) are properly engaged in the buckle (24). the shoulder pads (23) rest properly on the body. 52 Operation

Dd GB Idle Position of the Child Seat 1. Push the adjusting handle (10) up and pull the seat shell forward to the desired position. Note The seat shell (11) must engage securely in every position. Pull on the seat shell to ensure that it is engaged. Operation 53

Cleaning dcaution! Risk of damage due to improper cleaning. f Please observe the instructions on the cover s laundry label. If the cover is washed at a temperature higher than 30 C (86 F), the cover fabric may bleed. f Do not spin-dry the cover and never dry it in an electric dryer (the fabric could separate from the cushion). Removing and Fitting the Covers The cover for the Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX consists of two parts. The Porsche Junior Seat ISOFIX must be taken out of the vehicle in order to remove the covers. You can remove the cover and machine-wash it with mild detergent at 30 C (86 F) in the gentle cycle. You can clean the plastic parts, belts and shoulder pads with a soap solution. Do not use any aggressive agents (e.g. solvents). Removing the Headrest Cover 1. Tilt the headrest forward. 2. Remove the headrest cover (20). 3. Thread the headrest cover out of the belts. 54 Care Instructions

Removing the Seat Cushion Cover 1. Move the headrest (20) to the middle position (refer to section Adjusting the Headrest ). 2. Loosen the belts as much as possible (refer to section Buckling in your Child, step 1) 3. Open the buckle (24) (press on the red button) and move the belts to the outside. 4. Open the Velcro fastener on the groin pad (29) and remove it. 5. Open the snap fasteners (27) on the left and right sides of the back part (9) of the cover. Care Instructions 55

6. Fold the back part (9) of the seat cushion cover onto the seat surface. 7. Thread the belts out of the openings in the seat cushion cover. 8. Disengage the elastic seat cushion cover edge at the lower edge of the seat shell. 9. Pull the cover over the trim (35) of the belt adjuster from below. 10.Thread the buckle (24) and the belt end (36) out of the seat cushion cover. 11.Pull the seat cushion upward slightly and then place its opening over the headrest (20). 56 Care Instructions

Fitting the Covers 1. Fit the covers in the reverse order. Note Make sure that the belts are not twisted and are fitted correctly in the belt slots (6) of the cover. Removing the Belts 1. Remove the seat cover. 2. Tilt the headrest forward and push the belt loops of the shoulder pads (23) off the bridge (32) of the headrest adjuster (21). 3. Disengage the shoulder belts (19) from the connecting piece (33). Care Instructions 57

Danger of injury when removing the connecting piece (33) from the seat lower section. f The disengaged connecting piece must not slip into the seat lower section. f Hang the connecting piece over the seat lower section. 4. Pull the shoulder belts (19) and the belt loops of the shoulder pads (23) out of the belt slots (34). 5. Pull the shoulder pads (23) off the shoulder belts (19). 6. Pull out the Triglide (37) with which the belt is fastened at the bottom of the seat shell (11). 58 Care Instructions

7. Push the belt loop back on the short side of the Triglide (37) and disengage the Triglide. 8. You can now pull the belts out. Installing the Belts 1. Insert the belt tongues (25) into the buckle (24). 2. Now thread the long belt loop into the outer side slot (38) of the seat shell (11). Note Do not twist the belts. 3. Engage the Triglide (37) in the long belt loop (engage the long side of the Triglide first, then the short side). 4. Pull on the belt until the Triglide (37) lies straight in the opening of the seat shell. 5. Open the buckle again. Care Instructions 59

6. Thread the shoulder pads (23) onto the shoulder belts (19). Note Do not twist the belts. ddanger Damaged belt straps can tear in an accident and severely injure your child. f Do not use any sharp or pointed objects when threading in the belts. f Damaged belt straps must be replaced. 7. Thread the shoulder belts into the belt slots. 8. Push the shoulder belts (19) through between the deflection rod (39) and the bridge (32) of the headrest adjuster (21). Note Do not twist or interchange the belts. 9. Engage the shoulder belts (19) into the connecting piece (33) again. 60 Care Instructions

Buckle Care Proper functioning of the buckle makes an important contribution to safety. Malfunctions of the buckle are mostly due to contamination. GB 10.Thread the belt loops of the shoulder pads (23) into the belt slots (34). 11.Tilt the headrest forward and push the belt loops of the shoulder pads (23) onto the bridge (32) of the headrest adjuster (21). 12.Fit the seat cover. Malfunction: The belt tongues are ejected slowly when the red button is pressed. The belt tongues no longer lock into place (they are ejected again). The belt tongues engage without a clearly audible click. The belt tongues encounter resistance when being inserted (doughy). The buckle can be opened only with great effort. Care Instructions 61

Remedy: This is how to wash out the buckle to make it function properly again. 1. Remove the buckle. f Loosen the belts. f f f f Open the Velcro fastener on the groin pad and remove it. Move the child seat to idle position. Disengage the elastic seat cushion cover edge at the lower edge of the seat shell. Pull the seat cushion cover off the lower seat shell. 2. Wash out the buckle. f Soak the buckle (24) in warm water with detergent for at least one hour. Then rinse the buckle out and allow it to dry thoroughly. f Push the Triglide (30) with which the buckle (24) is fastened to the seat shell upright through the belt slot (31). 62 Care Instructions

3. Install the buckle. f Push the Triglide (30) in upright position through the belt slot (31) in the cover from top to bottom and through the seat shell. Firmly pull on the buckle (24) to check its attachment. f Pull the seat cushion cover over the lower seat shell. f Engage the elastic seat cushion cover edge at the lower edge of the seat shell. f Thread the buckle and the belt end into the cover. f Move the child seat to normal position. f Fasten the groin cushion. GB Malfunction: The belt tongues (25) can no longer be inserted into the buckle (24). Remedy: Press the red button to release the buckle (24). Care Instructions 63
