What We Are Hearing From the Road ADESA, Inc. Acquires Pittsburgh Auto Auction: Carmel, IN-based auto auction solutions provider ADESA, Inc. announced on March 7, 205 that it had acquired Pittsburgh, PA-based Pittsburgh Auto Auction. Founded in 978, Pittsburgh Auto Auction operates a seven lane, 200-acre auto auction facility and full-service reconditioning facilities including body and mechanical shops. In addition to conducting weekly sales and bi-weekly GM closed sales, the company operates SmartAuction, a wholesale website for selling off-lease, rental, fleet, and dealer-consigned vehicles. The acquisition will allow ADESA, which also owns ADESA Pittsburgh and ADESA PA, to further expand its geographic footprint in the region. ADESA President and Chief Executive Officer Stéphane St-Hilaire said, This acquisition demonstrates our continued commitment to grow our physical auction business. I look forward to working with the experienced staff at this location and to continue the level of service they have provided for more than 35 years. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Carmel, IN-based KAR Auction Services, Inc. (NYSE:KAR) acquired ADESA in April 2007 for approximately $2.9 billion.
