CABINET COOLING GUIDE INTAKE AND EXHAUST All cabinet fan systems shuld cntain an intake and an exhaust variable, which can either be fans r ventilatin hles. This is required t balance the static pressures between the inside and utside f the cabinet. AN POSITIONING Due t natural cnvectin, warmer air which is less dense than clder air will rise n its wn. It is ideal t psitin fans near the tp f the cabinet cnfigured t exhaust ut the warmer air and psitin fans near the bttm t push in clder air. 6 CM REQUIREMENTS A fan r set f fan s CM rating measures the rate at which air flws in f a space. T btain the required CM rating, divide the dimensins f a cabinet by 1728 t get the cubic feet area then multiply by three t accunt fr varius real wrld variables. SIZE O CABINET L x W x H (inches) 1728
KEY EATURES ALUMINIUM RAME eatures an aluminium frame with a brushed black finish and CNC machined crners. PROTECTIVE BACK ans are enclsed in a hard shell cver t prevent intrusins. CHANGING AN DIRECTION STEP 1 The fans are currently drawing the air ut f the metal plate. T have the fans blw air int the cabinet, use philips screw driver t remve all the screws frm the frnt and backside f the unit. Once cmpleted, yu shuld have a aluminum fan and plastic cver. Each fan will have eight screws, ne grill, and ne fan guard per fan. STEP 2 Identify the directin f the fans airflw, which is twards the black label at the center f the fan. Then psitin the path f the fan s pwer crd s that it will run twards the black label. Be prepared t slip the crd thrugh the plastic cver s crd gap. 9
CHANGING AN DIRECTION STEP 3 Psitin the fan guard n the side f the fan that has the black label. Screw the plastic cver nt the fans with the fan guard in between. Please make sure the fan s pwer crd slips thrugh the crd gap n the plastic cver. STEP 4 Lastly, psitin the grill n the ppsite side which des nt cntain a black label, fr each fan. Then use a Phillips screw driver t secure the aluminum frame back nt the fans with the grill in between. 10
MOUNTING STEP 1 Determine where yu wish t munt the fan and cntrller unit (if purchased) n yur cabinet r wall. Psitin the stencils and apply tape t the uter edges. STEP 2 Use a pencil t utline the center square and fur uter screw hles n the fan and therm cntrller's stencils (if purchased). Check fr accuracy befre prceeding t the next step. 11
MOUNTING STEP 3 Remve the plastic stencil and tape. If yu prefer machine screws instead f wd screws t munt the fan and cntrller, use a pwer drill t create fur screw hles. The Recmmended drill bit size is 10/64 t 14/64. STEP 4 Using a saw, cut ut the center piece as utlined by yur markings frm step ne. Yu may need t first drill a hle at each f the crners t fit yur saw thrugh. A pwer jigsaw may be preferred fr thicker wd. 12
MOUNTING STEP 5 Place the fan unit int the newly cut square s that each screw hle is prperly aligned. Please make sure the cut center hle is large enugh that the plastic backside f the fan des nt cme int cntact with the cabinet. This is t minimize vibratins which cause nise. STEP 6 Using the fur machine screws, secure the fan unit s frame nt the cabinet r wall. Push each screw thrugh their crrespnding hle lcated n the frame and wall. The included wd screws can als be used instead.tighten the nuts n the ther side. 13
POWERING S-SERIES Yu can pwer the fan unit by plugging the unit s USB male cnnectr int a standard USB prt, r plugging the USB male cnnectr int the included pwer adapter thrugh an utlet. Then plugging the adapter int an utlet. T-SERIES Plug the fan unit s USB plug int the USB prt lcated n the back f the thermal cntrl unit. Then plug the wall adapter s male cnnectr int the thermal cntrller s pwer plug, als lcated n the back. Lastly, plug the pwer adapter int an utlet. 14 2 1
CONNECTING MORE ANS Each fan unit includes an USB prt that enables yu t cnnect an additnal fan. Up t fur fans can share the same USB prt, and up t six fans can share the same pwer utlet. Please see page 16 fr limitatins. T-SERIES CONTROLLER Thermal cntrllers can cntrl up t six fans. Sme mdels may cntain mre than ne fan. r example AIRPLATE S7 cntains tw fans and AIRPLATE S9 cntains three fans. an units cnnected t the thermal cntrller will share the same speed and temperature settings. If the fans cntain an inline speed cntrller, please make sure their speed is set n high. AC ININITY AC ININITY 15
S-SERIES CONTROLLER SPEED CONTROLLER The speed cntrller lcated n the crd allws yu t adjust the fan s speed frm ff t lw, medium, and high. Any fans that are daisy chained will als have their speed changed. All setups with mre than fur daisy-chained fans must have their inlinespeed cntrller set t high t prevent verlading the speed cntrller, e.g. tw AIRPLATE S9 units daisy-chained tgether must have their speeds set t high. Please nte that AIRPLATE S3/T3 cntains ne fan, AIRPLATE S7/T7 cntains tw fans, and AIRPLATE S9/T9 cntains three fans. TURBO BOOST ADAPTER The Bst Adapter is designed t maximize the perfrmance f ur fans. Using the adapter will increase the fan s speed by up t 25%. If the higher speed is t lud fr yur applicatin, use the speed cntrller t reduce the nise level. 16
