INSTALLATION Connect the individual components to the symbols provided: solar panel, battery, and loads, in the order of 1-6 as indicated. Install the controller near the battery where it is dry, non-flammable, against heat and rain, away from dust. The cable should be as short as possible, with suitable cable diameter size to minimize energy losses: use 5mm 2 for 20A. 1. Mount the controller and meter to a surface. Allow space above and below the controller to enable good ventilation. Connect the controller and meter by communication cable. 2. Connect the battery to the controller. Note the positive and negative terminals. Battery indicator will be turned on if connections are made right. Note: If connections are reversed, the output polarity is reversed DO NOT turn on the loads. We suggest connecting a fuse to the battery to prevent short circuit. The fuse protection current should be more than the controller rated current. 3. Connect the solar panel to the controller, note positive and negative terminals. If there is sunlight, the charging indicator will be turned on. Note: Take precaution when solar panel is exposed to strong sunlight, high voltage maybe a cause of hazard. 4. Ensure the system is turned OFF. Connect the load to the controller, note positive and negative terminals. Then, turn on the system by pressing ON/OFF button. 5. Remote temperature sensor (RTS): A connection point for RTS (optional) to remotely monitor battery temperature. Local temperature sensor: Measure ambient temperature. Battery regulation is adjusted accordingly. Note: Without RTS, the controller calculates the data collected from local temperature sensor. The controller will synchronize with RTS when connected.
REMOTE METER DISPLAY Green LED indicator is turned on when charging. Yellow LED indicator is turned on when an error occurs. The meter backlight exhibits high brightness for 15 seconds, then, turns to low brightness. After 15 seconds, the backlight is off. REMOTE METER OPERATION INSTRUCTION The key from left to right is: K1~K4,or Set, Left Right ON/ OFF/ ESC 1. The meter display in following order: (solar panel voltage, solar panel charging current), (battery voltage, charging current), (load voltage, load current), (battery capacity AH, battery temp.), (battery capacity percentage, temp. compensation), (battery capacity AH, battery type), (charging accumulation AH, charging accumulation WH), (discharging accumulation AH, discharging accumulation WH) as eight sets of data. Use K2, K3, or left, right keys for repeating the data. Data are shown as following.
Is a setting icon which, appears during data setting. 2. Data setting operation: Reading status, press K1/SET to setting status. Press K2, K3 to modify data. Press K1 to return to reading status and saving data. Press K4 to return to reading status without saving data. Battery voltage and current CANNOT be set. Operations are shown as following. The data can be adjusted: battery capacity AH, battery temperature compensation, battery type. At read status, press K1/SET for setting data.
3. Data setting instruction: Battery capacity adjustment: Battery capacity can be adjusted from 10AH to 900AH, while the default value is 200AH. The adjusted data should be near or equal to the real battery capacity. At the battery capacity and temperature display, press K1 into setting mode, adjust the data through K2, and K3. Battery capacity setting moves up or down by a magnitude of 10AH, press K1 for saving data and back to the reading status. Or, press K4 to return to reading status without saving. The battery capacity remains unchanged. Battery temperature compensation: Temperature compensation data ranges from 0 to 10mV/ Cell/ C. When the data is 0, there is no temperature compensation function. At the battery capacity percentage and temperature compensation display, press K1 into setting mode, modify the data through K2, K3. The temperature compensation will move up or down by a magnitude of 1mV/ Cell/ C. Battery type: There are three types of battery: SEL - sealed battery, GEL - gel battery, FLD - flooded battery. At the battery capacity percentage and temperature compensation display, press K1 into setting mode, choosing a proper battery type through K2, and K3. 4. Other operation: Delete accumulated data: At the charging discharging accumulation display, press K4/SET, then press K1/ESC, the data will be deleted. The controller will delete the data automatically. The controller is capable of 999 times data accumulation. Within 24 hours, data accumulation starts when solar panel voltage is > 8V.
OTHER INSTRUCTION Error icon instruction: Red light will be flashing an error occurs. Please check the load connection, press K4 to delete error icon. 1. When the load current is over 1.25 times and less than 1.5 times of rated current, the load will be off automatically after 60 seconds. 2. When the load current is over 1.5 times of rated current but less than short circuit, the load will be off automatically after 5 seconds. 3. When the load current is over short circuit, short circuit protection will shut down the load. LED indicator: Green light is turned on when solar panel is charging the battery. Green light is off indicates no charging. Yellow light is turned on when there is an error. Yellow light is off when the system is normal. Telecommunication port: When the meter is run on independent power or the communication is cut off, it displays graphical symbols. Press key, no answer. The display will resume when communications is connected. Note: Check if the cable is connected correctly when there is an error on data display. Strong interference, long cable may also cause data error. Battery capacity strip flash: Each strip equals to 20% of battery capacity. Note: The calculation assumes fully charged voltage as 100%, and over discharged as 0%. All data is based on battery voltage, not the real battery capacity. Data updating: Serial communication happens every 10 seconds between control module and display module, so the data update relay is 10-20 seconds. Battery capacity AH: AH is the accumulation of charging, each minute counts. The data is not accurate when the charging current is too small. The recorded minimal unit is 1AH, which means 1amps charging for 1 hour. Charging and discharging accumulation WH: The displayed data on solar panel is based on open circuit voltage, which cannot be calculated. WH is the product of battery voltage and charging current accumulation.
MECHANICAL Note: 1.5 meter cable, and a mounting bracket are provided with the remote meter. End of Page
