INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS WARNING! Make sure the Hopper Safety Support is in place whenever attempting to do any maintenance work under or near the raised hopper. The Hopper Safety Support holds the hopper in the raised position to allow work to be performed under the hopper. NEVER rely on the machine s hydraulic components to safely support the hopper. DISCONNECT BATTERY BEFORE SERVICING. EMPTY HOPPER BEFORE SERVICING. 1 See Figure 1. Remove Knob (A) and Nut (B) from the Left Hand Side Broom Assy (1). NOTE: Be careful to not misplace the rubber and fi ber washers from Knob (A). 2 Remove the (4) Clevis Pins (C) and Linkage Weld t. (D). 3 Install Side Broom Motor Assy (3) as shown using Bolts (E) and Washers (F) from Side Broom Assy (1). NOTE: Torque Bolts (E) to 31 FT/LBS. 4 Reinstall Linkage Weld t. (D) using Clevis Pins (C). 5 Install Left Side Broom Cylinder Assy (2) as shown using the (2) Clevis Pins (G & H) from Side Broom Assy (1). NOTE: Clevis Pin (H) is longer and must be installed on the top of the cylinder. Slide Bellows (I) over the cylinder prior to installing the top Clevis Pin (H). FIGURE 1 2013 Nilfi sk-advance, Inc. 11 See Figure 4. Flip the Seat Assembly (J) to the side, open the Engine Cover (K) and remove the Center Cover (L). 12 Start the engine. Raise the hopper to the full up position. Pull back on the hopper safety support handle to engage the hopper safety support, then lower the hopper slightly to secure. Set the parking brake. Turn off the engine. FIGURE 4 2013 Nilfi sk-advance, Inc. (page 5 of 13)
13 See Figure 5. Remove the (3) Button Plugs (M) and Hardware Items (N). NOTE: Remove the Cotter Hairpin and Clevis Pin from the hopper dump door end of the dump door hydraulic cylinder. Prop the dump door open. (N) includes a nut and washer on the inside of the hopper which can be accessed via the open dump door. FIGURE 5 2013 Nilfi sk-advance, Inc. (page 6 of 13)
14 See Figure 6. Mount the Side Broom Assy (1) to the Hopper Side Plate (O) as shown using the (2) sets of Hardware (P) included with the Side Broom Assy (1) and reuse Hardware (N). NOTE: (N) includes a nut and washer on the inside of the hopper. FIGURE 6 15 Turn the key switch to the ON position but do not start the engine. Push the engine speed switch to enable fast idle and then push all (4) hopper buttons and the side broom switch to release the hydraulic pressure in the lines. 16 See Figure 6. Install the (3) sets of Hardware (Q) as shown. NOTE: A washer and nut need to be installed on each of the (3) Bolts from the inside of the hopper via the open dump door. 2013 Nilfi sk-advance, Inc. 17 See Figure 7. Install the two halves of the Quadruple Hose Clamp (16) using Hardware Items (17, 18) as shown. NOTE: Make sure the (3) Hoses (6 / 56508305, 10 / 56507538, 13 / 56508306) are routed through the clamps (16) as shown and that there is adequate free hose length between the bottom clamp and the side broom assy to allow the up & down motion of the side broom. 18 See Figure 8. Disconnect the existing Hose 56507536 from the case port of the dust control motor and remove the small connector. 19 Install Tee (7) in place of the original connector and connect Hose (12 / 56508308) from the Valve Assy (4) to the side of the Tee (7) as shown. Reconnect Hose 56507536 to the end of the Tee (7) as shown. 20 Install Tee (5) between Hose (14 / 56508307) and Hose (13 / 56508306) as shown on page 1 of this instruction sheet. 21 Connect Hose (6 / 56508305) from the side broom assy to the Tee on the bottom of the Valve Assy (4) as shown in Figure 3. FIGURE 8 LEFT SIDE OF HOPPER Dust Control Motor Hose (12) 56508308 7 Reconnect existing hose 56507536 to Tee (7) 2013 Nilfi sk-advance, Inc. (page 9 of 13)
22 Disconnect Hose 56507531 from port D of the Hydraulic Manifold Assy. 23 See Figure 9. Remove the elbow from port D and replace with Tee (7) as shown. 24 Reconnect existing Hose 56507531 to the side of the Tee (7) as shown. 25 Connect Hose (11 / 56507788) to the end of the Tee (7) as shown. 26 Slide Hose (11 / 56507788) up through the hydraulic hose sleeve on the left side of the hopper and connect to Tee (5) installed in step 20. FIGURE 9 Port D of Hydraulic Manifold Assy 7 Reconnect existing hose 56507531 to Tee (7) Hose (11) 56507788 2013 Nilfi sk-advance, Inc. (page 10 of 13)
27 Completely remove Hose 56507718 from the machine. NOTE: This hose runs between port E on the hydraulic manifold assy pictured in Figure 9 and the out port on the right side broom motor. 28 Connect Hose (8 / 56507536) coming from the Valve Assy (4) to the out port of the right side broom motor where 56507718 was previously connected. It should be routed through the Quadruple Clamps on the right side of the hopper where 56507718 was previously routed as shown in Figure 10. FIGURE 10 RIGHT SIDE OF HOPPER Hose (8) 56507356 29 Install Elbow (19) on port E of the hydraulic manifold assy as shown on the fi rst page of this instruction sheet. Connect Hose (10 / 56507538) which was routed through the left side hose sock in step 17 to Elbow (19) as shown. 30 Start the engine. Raise the hopper to the full up position. Pull back on the hopper safety support handle to disengage the hopper safety support, then lower the hopper to the full down position. Shut off the engine. 2013 Nilfi sk-advance, Inc. (page 11 of 13)
31 See Figure 11. Reinstall Knob (A) and Nut (B) removed in step 1. NOTE: Make sure you also reinstall the Fiber Washer (R) and Rubber Washer (S) in the order shown. 32 Install the Side Broom Decal (T) included with the Left Hand Side Broom Assy (1) as shown. 31 Install the Side Broom (U) included with the Left Hand Side Broom Assy (1). FIGURE 11 2013 Nilfi sk-advance, Inc. (page 12 of 13)
32 Test the machine for proper operation by turning on the side brooms while the engine is running at fast idle and the drive pedal is engaged. Both side brooms should turn towards the inside of the machine. Proceed to step 33 to adjust the left side broom height. To adjust the Side Broom... 33 Drive the machine to an area with a level fl oor and set the parking brake. 34 Pull the Main Broom Lever back and slide to the right and up to lower the main and side brooms. 35 See Figure 12. When in the Down position, the Left Side Broom (U) should be contacting the fl oor from the 9 O Clock (A1) to the 2 O Clock (A2) area shown. 36 If it requires adjustment, turn the Side Broom Height Adjustment Knob (A) either clockwise to raise or counter-clockwise to lower the side broom. NOTE: You will have to open the hopper cover to access the Adjustment Knob (A). NOTE: The machine should be stored with the Side Brooms in the raised position. The Side Brooms should be replaced when the bristles are worn to a length of 3 inches (7.62 cm) or it becomes ineffective. The Side Broom height must be re-adjusted when ever a broom has been replaced. FIGURE 12 2013 Nilfi sk-advance, Inc. (page 13 of 13)
