What is the»basic sizing«function? 1 Application notes 1.1 What is the»basic sizing«function?»basic sizing«is a browser-based function which gives you a quick overview of possible drive solutions using Lenze products in the early machine planning phase. Based on the "Travelling/conveying", "Lifting" and "Rotating" applications,»basic sizing«supplies quick and efficient results for drive systems in only a few steps. 1. Select application. 2. Select drive concept. 3. Entering the application data. 4. Select drive technologies 5. Find drive solution.»basic sizing«determines the application requirements (torque, speed, power) and suggests a drive solution. Combinations of application/drive concept in»basic sizing«: Drive concept Application Travelling/conveying Lifting Rotating Motor direct on line Inverter - decentralised Inverter - control cabinet Possible Not possible Features: Speedy estimation of which drive(s) is (are) needed. Uncomplicated access to the Lenze product world. Immediate orientation thanks to intuitive use of»easy Explorer«. CAD data and EPLAN macros for technical design are directly available. 4 Lenze Application notes DMS 3.0 EN - 01/2017
Notes on use 1.2 Notes on use Drive solutions created with»basic sizing«are based on reduced input data of the application and on selection algorithms embedded in the program. Carefully checking the drive solution is necessary in any case. To this end, consult your Lenze sales partner. For safe operation of a drive solution, additional components and checks that are not part of»basic sizing«may be required. Each drive solution created with»basic sizing«is primarily based on the settings made and the data entered. For program-assisted calculations, we therefore depend on our customers to provide us with correct and complete information. The results of»basic sizing«calculations are grounded on the default settings you have made and the data you have entered. Check these data for accuracy and completeness. Lenze does not assume any liability for drive solutions that are faulty, unusable or incomplete as a result of incorrect or incomplete data. 1.3 Entering data 1.3.1 Application Typical applications supported by»basic sizing«: Application Travelling/conveying Moving linearly Belt drive, rotating Omega belt drive Rack drive Spindle drive Wheel drive Transporting continuously Chain conveyor Roller conveyor Belt conveyor, unit load Belt conveyor, bulk material Lifting Moving vertically (inclination angle of 90 ) Hoist drive without counterweight Belt drive, rotating Omega belt drive Rack drive Spindle drive Wheel drive Rotating Movng or actuating in a rotary manner General rotary drive Rotary table drive Lenze Application notes DMS 3.0 EN - 01/2017 5
Entering data 1.3.2 Drive concept Drive concept Motor direct on line Inverter - decentralised Inverter - control cabinet Drive without inverter. The geared motor is connected directly to the mains. Drive with frequency inverter. The inverter is mounted directly on the geared motor. Cannot be selected for the "Lifting" application. Controlled drive with frequency inverter or dynamic drive with servo inverter. The inverter is mounted in the control cabinet. 1.3.3 Application data Application data Unit Operating mode BA Predefined motion profile, based on the operating modes to VDE 0530 or IEC 31-1. Only available for the selection of the "Motor connected to mains" drive concept. S1: continuous operation S2: short-time operation S3: intermittent operation S6: intermittent load Operating time OT The operating time serves to parameterise the operating mode. Not available for selection of the S1 operating mode. Min The operating time corresponds to the load time of the drive. Parameter for the S2 operating mode. % The relative operating time is the ratio of the load period and the cycle time (10 min). Parameter for the S3 and S6 operating modes. Speed v m/s Velocity of the application Speed n 1/min Application speed Acceleration time t s Acceleration time of the application Time from zero speed to setpoint speed Not for "Motor connected to mains" Torque M sds Nm Stationary torque of the application Moment of inertia J kgm 2 Moment of inertia of the application 6 Lenze Application notes DMS 3.0 EN - 01/2017
Entering data Application data Unit Diameter d mm For the "travelling/conveying" application: Belt drive, Omega belt drive: effective diameter of belt pulley or wheel of wheel-guided system Rack drive: pinion diameter Spindle drive: resulting diameter (results from the leadscrew pitch) Wheel drive: wheel diameter Chain conveyor, belt conveyor: diameter of drive roll Roller conveyor: diameter of drive roll For the "lifting" application: Hoist drive: diameter of cable drum or driving pulley Mass m kg Total mass to be moved Sliding friction μ Sliding friction coefficient for rack drive, spindle drive, chain conveyor, unit load belt conveyor Rolling friction f mm Lever arm of rolling friction for roller conveyor and synchronous drive with squeegees Table with sliding friction coefficients / values for rolling friction Click the icon to open the table of values. Click the required value to place this value in the input field. 1.3.4 Determined requirement The demand calculated that is required by the application is shown. The data will be recalculated immediately if there are changes in the movement type or in the application data. Determined requirement Unit Power P sds kw Stationary power of the drive system P max kw Max. required power of the drive system Total stationary and dynamic power Torque M sds Nm Stationary torque of the drive system M max Nm Max. required torque of the drive system Total stationary and dynamic torque Moment of J kgm 2 Moment of inertia of the application inertia Speed n 1/min Speed of the drive system Lenze Application notes DMS 3.0 EN - 01/2017 7
Display drive solution 1.3.5 Drive technologies Drive technology Gearbox type Motor control Selection of an axial gearbox or right-angle gearbox for the drive system. When selecting axial gearbox,»basic sizing«also shows drive solutions without gearbox if the determined application requirements permit. V/f control The drive is designed with a frequency inverter. Servo control The drive is designed with a servo inverter. 1.4 Display drive solution Click Find drive solution to show the drive solution.
