A New Grade of scraper MT-42L MT-42LGP contents The MT-42 scraper series represents a new grade of scrapers. These scrapers are specifically designed to move the weight forward toward the power unit thus relieving the rear axle of additional load. This action reduces the effective ground pressure, balances the axle distribution of the power unit, and allows better access around the rear end of the scraper. This paradigm shift in scraper design permits up to 39% of load transfer to the power unit, depending on the model. This brochure will highlight how MTS goes the distance to provide value day in and day out. an earthmover s mentality Our hydraulic components are placed in well protected areas. A parked scraper doesn t generate revenue. Our goal is to keep the machines in the field and out of the mechanics hands. Everything from the cylinders to the hoses are shielded by steel for increased protection from the excavator buckets, dozer blades, and falling material. spool valve Our new high flow spool valve is designed specifically for the MTS scraper system. With the new, simplified, spool valve design MTS has increased serviceability while utilizing common components used in the industry. Hydraulic cylinders Each cylinder is specific for its application. MTS utilizes a cushioned design on needed applications to obtain speed without compromising longevity. These cylinders are constructed with SAE ports to avoid leakage issues in the field. Operating Speeds (seconds) MTS Hydraulics Built with the Hydraulic hose The world of heavy construction can take its toll on hydraulic hoses. That s why our scrapers are only manufactured with the CAT T ES hose. The CAT T hose provides up to 20 times more abrasion resistance than the industry standard hose*. Each hose is assembled using quality CAT hose ends. O-ring face seal fittings are used whereever possible. engineering 101 E-1 Ejection Stage What sets the series MT-42 series apart? One answer lies within the configuration of the two ejector cylinders. The primary cylinder has a 6 bore. Because of the large surface area, the primary cylinder functions during the most demanding part of the E-1 ejection cycle, or the first 76%. Your time is valuable let us help you save it. The MTS ejection system provides an industry leading apron opening of 82 coupled with a unique two stage ejection system that leads to faster cycle times. E-2 Ejection Stage During the E-2 ejection stage the smaller 5 bore cylinder takes over. The smaller bore requires less oil flow per inch. Couple this increased cylinder speed to a lever-arm with a 2:1 ratio, the ejection speed becomes 2.9 times faster. Simply put, the MT-42 series can move more material all day, every day, putting you ahead of the competition. Ejection System The advantages come from within 5 6
Everyday clearance Each model in the MT-42 series is equipped with our innovative dual lift system. 3 wheels of fortune 2 5 1 4 The Caterpillar ADT truck chassis is easily converted from dump body configuration to scraper power unit. The ADT chassis can now be optimized for a variety of applications from easy scraper dirt to shot rock. One asset, one investment, one chassis for multitude of applications. Adapt ADT truck chassis for scraper use with one time conversion kit. Convert back and forth between truck configuration and scraper configuration using only 2 men in 8 hours. Initial conversion takes longer. 9 1 Hitch plate bolts onto existent ADT frame 2 Hose hanger bolts onto existent ADT frame 3 Dual purpose joystick operates dump box and scraper 4 Rear view camera shows operator cutting edge 5 Standard ADT powertrain allows speeds up to 34 MPH Conversion kit includes additional hydraulic filter to ensure any dirt in scraper system does not contaminate truck hydraulics. 10
tires The L s even larger (37.25 R25) tires provide superior rolling resistance. This reduces fuel usage and allows the truck to pull easier through the fill. supersize Your Workload mt-42xl cylinders To meet the demands of a large payload, the MT-42L uses cylinders with one inch larger bore. 11 sidewalls The L s six foot sidewalls keep material where you want it. The increased sidewall height allows you to move more dirt with each load. Additional l Sidewall Height With the MT-42 series of scraper, L designates tra-long, due to the lengthened rear lift system. By lengthening the MT-42L s rear lift we are able increase the forward weight transfer by 2% vs. the MT-42LGP. Combine the added weight transfer with the decrease in rolling resistance (Due to the larger 37.25R35 Tires) of the MT-42L and you have a true production advantage. 12
go where Others Can t mt-42lgp Where the rubber hits the road The MT-42LGP uses (4) 29.5R29 tires for the ultimate in low ground pressure. A fully loaded MT-42LGP scraper has a ground pressure comparable to an empty 40 ton ADT truck. hubs, spindles & Brakes Two large hub and spindle groups each mount two tires each. This simplified design reduces tire replacement headaches. Scraper sidewalls The MT-42LGP scraper is designed to have side racks bolted to the side of the scraper for increased capacity in specific applications. 1/4 Hardox creates the inside structure for increased life, while the outside C-structure creates a strong, light weight design which doubles for hydraulic line protection. 13 14
