Bright light can interfere with the infrared eye s reception of the remote control signal. Installing s The supplied hex head screws are suitable for wood or sheet metal mounting surfaces. Wall anchors or plugs are recommended for plaster, drywall, concrete, brick, or tile. Spacer blocks may require longer screws than those supplied. It is very important that the headrail be mounted level for proper shade operation. Use a carpenter s level to check that the mounting surface is level on an inside mount, and that the tops of the installation brackets are level on an outside mount. If brackets are out of alignment because the window opening is not level, washers or small shims may be used to correct this. Note: Mounting brackets must be level and aligned. Installing AAA Battery Wand Install the AAA battery wand into the headrail by lifting the headrail cover until it locks. Place the end of the wand, with the removable end cap, into the spring clip. The arrow on the label s Required The appropriate number of installation brackets are included for the shade width. Refer to the chart for the correct number. If ordered, spacer blocks, used for additional clearance, are included with the installation brackets. Width Required s 19 to 31 2 31 1 /8 to 79 3 79 1 /8 to 127 4 127 1 /8 to 144 5

Spacing spacing is the same for all mounting styles inside mounts, outside mounts, and ceiling mounts. Mark the position for the two end brackets so that their outside edges are 4 from the ends of the headrail. If more than two brackets are required, the additional brackets are spaced evenly between the end brackets. Caution: You will not be able to remove the shade if the brackets are mounted less than 4 from the ends of the headrail. Space Evenly Space Evenly Spacer Blocks Use spacer blocks with outside mount applications only, to project the installation bracket away from the mounting surface for additional shade clearance. Each spacer block adds an additional 1 1 / 2 clearance. A maximum of three blocks may be used to gain a total of 4 1 / 2. Mount spacer blocks with the solid sides facing the mounting surface. Mounting screws must be long enough for a secure SPACER BLOCKS Attach the brackets with the screws provided, using the screw holes in the top (for inside and ceiling mounts) or the screw holes in the back (for outside mounts). Mounting & Height Requirements The following chart indicates the minimum dimensions required to mount shades. These measurements are also incorporated in the illustrations showing each type of mounting situation. Pleat Size 1 Inside or Ceiling Mount Installation brackets are attached to the soffit inside the window casing at the marked positions. attachment requires a minimum depth of 5 / 8. To fully recess the shade, the window casing must be at least 2 deep. Add to these minimum depths any extra clearance needed to avoid obstructions to shade movement, such as window cranks or handles. s can be mounted to the ceiling in a similar manner. Inside Mount Fully Recessed 5 /8 2 INSIDE MOUNT IN SIDE MO UN T Fully Recessed Outside Mount Height 3 /4 5/8" 2" (3/ 8" & 1/ 2" Pleat 2 3 / 8" 3 Assembly Installing the Install the shade into the mounting brackets by tipping the headrail forward and fitting its back bottom edge into the lower lip of each bracket. Rotate the headrail upward until it snaps into the locking tab on each bracket. The headrail must be securely attached to all the brackets. Check to be sure the headrail is level. Satellite eye operated shades. First remove the rubber bands holding the satellite eye to the headrail prior to installing the shade. Be sure the wiring (coming from the headrail) for the satellite eye does not become caught or pinched by the bracket or rail during To Remove from s There are two ways to remove the headrail from the mounting bracket. The first is to access the locking tab through the front of the headrail. Lift the cover and push in on the locking tab and rotate the headrail out of the bracket. Locking Tab Locking Tab To release, lift the cover rail and push in on the locking tab. Outside Mount The installation brackets are attached to the wall or molding outside the window casing at the marked positions. A flat vertical surface at least 3 / 4 high is required. OUTSIDE MOUNT 3/ The second is to access the locking tab from behind the headrail. Insert a long, flat blade screwdriver between the back of the installation bracket and the headrail. 4 Test and Adjust Reset the Note: PowerRise shades must be reset before the first use. Using the remote control, press and release the DOWN button to lower the shade completely. With the shade completely lowered, press and hold the DOWN button for 5 seconds. This will clear the memory and the shade can be operated normally. Lower and Raise the Note: For standard operation, press and release the remote control button. Only hold the button if directed to do so. Point the remote control at the infrared eye located on either the headrail or the satellite eye and press the DOWN button to lower the shade. Press the UP button to raise the shade. To stop the shade before it is fully lowered, press the DOWN button a second time. To stop the shade before it is fully raised, press the UP button a second time. Note: Refer to the illustrations below for tips on aiming the remote control. Channel Selector Up Down Channel Selector Indicator Light The channel selector is located on the motor board next to the limit assembly plug. The right switch controls the channel operation and the left switch controls the shade operation. Using a small, flat blade screwdriver, flip the right channel selector switch toward the front of the shade for Channel 1 operation and toward the back of the shade for Channel 2 operation. Caution: Leave the left side switch in the back position. Memory Stop The Memory Stop feature allows the shade to be set so that it can be raised to the same height every time. To set the Memory Stop: With the shade fully lowered, press the UP button to raise the shade. When the shade reaches the desired height, stop its motion by firmly grasping the bottom rail with both hands, keeping the rail level. The motor will hesitate for a moment, then shut off. Now, every time the shade is raised, it will automatically stop at that point. Until the Memory Stop is cleared, it can be raised no higher. To clear the Memory Stop, reset the shade as described previously. SIDE VIEW 55 Maximum Upward Angle Aim High Operate Within 30' OVERHEAD VIEW 45 Maximum Side Angle Safety Stop The Safety Stop feature causes the moving shade to stop if the bottom rail touches any object in its path (for example, a plant or toy). Remember to reset the shade after the bottom rail is stopped by an obstruction. Change Channel Selection Caution: PowerRise shades must be reset before the first use. PowerRise shades are set on Channel 1 (switch towards the front of the shade) unless specified for Channel 2 at the time of ordering. To switch a shade s operating channel: Remove the shade from the mounting brackets and open the cover rail. Default Position For PowerRise (Standard) LIMIT BAT PWR Channel 1 Position (Standard) Channel Selection When two or more shades are ordered, two channel operation may be desired (this is specified at the time of the order). Normally, channel 1 is the only channel needed. However, there may be special circumstances with adjacent or stacked shades where channel 2 operation is desired for independent control of each shade. Some shades can be set to respond only to the channel 1 signal from the remote control and others can be set to respond only to channel 2. If the order includes shades set for channel 2 operation, as well as shades set for standard channel 1 operation, the channel selector located at the top of the remote control must be switched back and forth between 1 and 2 depending on the shades to be activated. s operated with channel 2 are marked on the motor housing cover, visible after lifting the cover rail.

Satellite Eye (optional) If the infrared eye on the cover rail is covered by a top treatment or cornice, a satellite eye is required to receive the signal from the remote control. Choose a location for the satellite eye. Be sure the signal from the remote control is not obstructed. When mounting the satellite eye, it is important that the placement of the wiring allows for free movement of the headrail cover. Do not mount the satellite eye INSIDE MOUNT near focused light sources such as (1) direct sunlight, (2) halogen light fixtures, or (3) a directly focused track light or spotlight. The satellite eye mounts to the wall with the cover sloping downwards. INSIDE OR OUTSIDE MOUNT After installation, do not try to insert any excess cabling back into the headrail. This will interfere with the operation of the shade. Inside Mounts. Options for the placement of the wire will depend upon specific mounting situations. The wire can exit from the front, over the top of the cover rail; or be directed out the back and wrap around the end cap to exit out the side of the window opening. Hinge Mounting: Locate the center hole in the hinge. Using a single screw, mount the hinge to the Infrared Eye wall with the satellite eye facing Hinge Pin toward the wall and downward. Hinge Pin Clasps After mounting the hinge, swivel Hinge the satellite eye upward to the correct angle for the remote control transmitter. WARNING: Handle the satellite eye carefully to avoid damaging the infrared eye. Do not touch, move or push on the infrared eye. 5 Wire the Lift the cover rail. Locate the off-white connector attached to the inside of the cover rail. Insert the green plug (attached to the wire from either the Satellite Battery Pack or the Transformer) down through the top of the headrail. Connector Align the tab on the green plug with the inset on the off-white connector. Insert the plug into the connector. Be sure the plug is securely attached. Gently pull the wire taut and toward the back of the headrail to eliminate any excess wire catching on shade components. Install the shade as shown in the PowerRise Installation Instructions. Attach the PowerRise Satellite Battery Pack to the wall using the screws provided. Note: The PowerRise Satellite Battery Pack must be attached to the wall prior to inserting the batteries. The batteries block access to screw holes. To connect the PowerRise AC Transformer, simply plug it into the designated wall outlet. Optional Battery Pack or AC Transformer Installation Instructions Note: You must wire the shade prior to The following steps show how to wire the shade for either the PowerRise Satellite Battery Pack or the PowerRise AC transformer.
