siemens.com/mobility Cabinets and lightweight bases for signal controllers of the Cxx family

N-series plastic cabinets N as in new! The new controller cabinets made by Siemens are simply called N-series The new cabinets of the N-series are made from high-quality plastics and are suitable for all signal controllers of the Cxx family. They are available in two sizes: Size 1 (Type 1N) and size 2 (Type 2N). The controllers of the Cxx family fit perfectly into the N-series cabinets! For each type, several variants can be configured by combining the cabinet with different control unit provisions and lock systems (see below). A special installation kit allows the coupling of two cabinets to form a single unit (for instance 3N = 2N + 1N). Depending on the type and actual distance of the existing bases, spacer plates of different thicknesses may be necessary. The older M-series controllers (MR, MF, MSF, MSK, MSL, MS-Plus 1 and MS-Plus 2) all require L-series cabinets (the corresponding brochure is available under the order number A24705-X-A497-*-04). With control unit compartment, as required The N-series cabinet types TG, TL and TR come equipped with a compartment for a control and display unit integrated in the door. The control unit door is also fitted with a cylinder lock. Four different variants of the N-series cabinets are available: Without compartment for the control and display unit 1N/2N With door-mounted compartment for the command and display unit (G door) 1N TG/2N TG With the control unit compartment integrated in the left side panel 1N TL/2N TL With the control unit compartment integrated in the right side panel 1N TR/2N TR Locks, keys and locking systems N-series cabinets are available with single (ES) or double (DS) locking systems for the doors. ES variants can be equipped with only one half-profile cylinder lock, DS variants can accommodate two such locks. A cabinet with a double lock can have two separate security locking systems installed. As a standard, every cabinet comes with one respectively two halfprofile cylinder(s) installed in the locking system(s) and one key for each lock. It is also possible to order the product without cylinders and keys. A double lock is equipped with an ad ditional dummy cylinder, which the customers can replace on site with their own half-profile cylinder, if desired. G lock: For the controller door of 2N cabinets comes with matching G key E lock: For the power utility door (E door) of 2N cabinets, comes with matching E key E/G locks: For door of 1N cabinets, comes with matching E and G keys P lock: For control unit doors (if applicable), comes with matching P key As an option we can also provide a universal key (X key) that fits all lock types. Please order separately. Weatherproof, low-maintenance and environment-friendly! Our N-series cabinets are made from glassfiber-reinforced (GFR) polyester and are completely recyclable, i.e. the materials can be reused in the production process. The external surface is extraordinarily weatherproof, requiring little maintenance. The central locking system possesses a three-point sliding-bolt mechanism to give the doors sufficient contact pressure against the cabinet walls. 2

Type 1N cabinets The locks are securely covered by a flushmounted, swiveling protection plate. The handle can only be pulled out when the lock is unlocked. The cabinets can be mounted on all bases compliant with the dimensions specified in DIN 43629, Part 1. This allows for the direct replacement of old M-series controllers installed in L-series cabinets with CxxV controllers mounted in N-series cabinets, without any construction work. When the cabinets are to be installed right next to each other, certain adaptations on the cabinet or the base may be necessary, depending on the base type and the formerly used cabinet type. Coated foam seals fastened all around the cabinet edges protect the interior against the intrusion of dust and splash water, in compliance with IP 54. On request, we can also provide cabinets meeting IP 55 requirements. An internal sealing layer integrated between the cabinet floor and the base seals the cabinet interior off against rising damp from the soil. The cabinet roof ensures adequate dust proofing while leveling out changes in atmospheric conditions, preventing condensation on the installed controller components. 180 Sturdy workmanship, perfected mechanism A catch mounted inside the cabinet permits the user to prop the G door open, if required. 270 110 0 A large pouch fastened on the inside of the G door can accommodate the manual and other equipment documents. The roof panel of the N-series cabinets does not jut out over the side panels, allowing the side-by-side installation of several cabinets on a combination lightweight base. 806 Dimensions in mm 3

Type 2N cabinets An easy-to-mount plastics floor panel with pre-molded cable entries forms the floor of the cabinet. On the left side there is an entry for the mains supply cable (Ø 30 to 50 mm). The collective inlets in the center of the panel can accommodate about 40 five-core ground cables. Each cable entry is sealed with a rubber cover, in which an opening of the required size can be cut with a suitable cutter. We recommend the use of a commercially available sealing compound to seal the opening after the introduction of the cables. 160 180 110 0 270 250 145 250 300 1136 380 Dimensions in mm 4

Type 3N cabinets Various cabinet combinations (e.g. 1N + 2N or 1N + 1N etc.) are available on request to accommodate additional customer-specific equipment, for instance special distribution panels or specific electric utility compartments. Attention! Some dimensions have been changed The drawing below indicates the dimensions of the base for a 3N cabinet. The most important aspect is the exact distance between the screws used to secure the two cabinets to the base. For the new 3N cabinets, this distance is 124 mm. In case the cabinets are to be installed on existing bases that are very close together, it may be necessary to create elongated screw holes and offset the cabinets accordingly during installation. It may be necessary to install spacer plates between the cabinets. * 8 1136 806 110 0 1020 690 124 10 10 Mitras base, size 2 Mitras base, size 1 1116 786 Top view of the cabinet floor installed on a Mitras base 380 160 Standard side panels without elongated holes 160 * Note: Please use spacer plates between adjacent cabinets. 58 Fixation width of size 2 cabinet 1020 Fixation width of size 1 cabinet 690 58 Dimensions in mm 5

Lightweight base C24324-Z5-C2/-C4/-C9 A range of different lightweight bases from various manufacturers are available for the installation of signal controllers. As the bases must provide a solid foundation for the GFR polyester cabinets, the following aspects have to be considered when selecting the appropriate base: The stability of the base depends on the size of its anchors and its height. The specific soil characteristics as well as the local frost line and the height of the base all are factors influencing on the reliability of the foundation. In Central Europe the frost line to be expected requires the installation of bases with a minimum height of 1200 mm. For these reasons, the lightweight bases described below are the most suitable for the installation of controller cabinets. As the footprint width of the N-series cabinets corresponds exactly to the width of the bases, the installation of combination cabinets (3N, 4N, etc.) requires the corresponding bases to be installed directly adjacent to each other. For this purpose, the pedestals of the base can be omitted. 1200 Base C24324-Z5 for cabinet type Weight Variant 75 275 430 75 430 -C2 -C4 -C9 1N 2N 2N + 1N 33 kg (approx.) 35 kg (approx.) 70 kg (approx.) Installation of lightweight bases Cabinet For the installation of the base, please refer to the instruction leaflet supplied with the base. Here we provide a short overview for clarity s sake. Height D Ground level 1. Excavate an installation pit suitable for the size of the base. 2. Level the bottom of the pit. For heavy soil types, prepare a bed of compacted gravel or sand. For light soil types, prepare a bed of lean-mix concrete. 3. Lower the base into the pit and align it vertically and horizontally (base protrusion D above ground level). 4. Install the cables (in cable conduits, if necessary). Provide strain-relief clamps for the cables. Gravel/sand or lean-mix concrete bed 5. Replace soil from alternating sides and compact it inwards and outwards at intervals. 6. As the last step, fill the cavity of the base with sand. Assembly jig Strain-relief clamp Profile rail Sand layer Ground level Attention! When installing a cabinet in a wall recess or close to other solid building elements (for instance a garden wall), make sure to factor in the front and rear overhang of the cabinet over the sides of the base (generally 25 mm). Gravel/sand or lean-mix concrete bed D = Protrusion of the base above ground level (The lower edge of the removable front panel must be 30 to 50 mm above ground level) 10
