Installion and Assembly Instructions for Solar Modules WARNING! The photovoltaic module produces electricity when exposed to the sun or other light sources. For your safety and the safety of others, please read the entire Installion and Assembly Instruction manual carefully prior to installion. Please carefully read the following installion and safety instructions. Non-compliance with these instructions may void the module warranty. 1. Our products have been delivering strong opering performance in a large number of residential and utility scaled solar PV projects around the world. 2. Structure of module ET modules are made by layering low-iron-tempered glass, an EVA sticky membrane, high conversion-efficient solar cells and a behind-the-membrane multi-layer backsheet. These elements are lamined into a ple by being heed in a vacuum. After installing the aluminum alloy frame and wiring compartment, a module is born (see Fig. 1. 1

Such a module can present a serious shock hazard. 3.1 Installion When installing the modules, the face of the units should be placed where they are highly exposed to the sun. It is recommended th the modules usually face the equor; thus, in the Northern Hemisphere the surface should be oriented towards the south, and in the Southern Hemisphere, towards the north. Usually the angle between modules and the ground should be local litude ± (5 ~10 as show in Fig.2. 2

The recommended standoff height is 5 in. (127mm, if other mounting means are employed this may affect the UL Listing. The specific angle depends on the sunlight condition, local clime and the actual applicion requirements. The approprie angle of evaluion has a very important relionship to the output power of the modules and the cost of the construction. The surface of the modules should avoid shadows and be kept clean from foreign merials such as dirt. The assembly is to be mounted over a fire resistant roof covering merial when roof mounting is intended for the modules, the fire resistance of roof covering or wall should be red for the applicion. WARNING! The local shadowing of modules may cause serious hot-spots and damage the modules. The modules are for use in applicions where they do not serve as a member of the building primary structural frame. A torsion and corrosion-resistant anodized aluminum frame ensures dependable performance, even under harsh weher conditions. Eight pre-drilled mounting holes, 3

loced on the aluminum alloy frame, are provided for ease of installion. They are designed to be used with metric M6 1(Torque 12 Lb-in stainless steel screws. Mounting with Bolts The module must be tached and supported by least four bolts through the indiced mounting holes. Most installions will use the four inner mounting holes on the module frame. Depending on the local wind and snow loads, additional mounting points may be required(e.g. if the combined wind and snow load is as high as 5400pa, please use eight bolts. Mounting with Clamps If module clamps are used to secure the module, the torque on the clamp bolt should be around 8 10 Nm. A minimum of four module clamps should be used, two on each long frame side, in the general clamping areas denoted by the wide arrows on the drawing. Depending on the local wind and snow loads, additional module clamps may be required(e.g. if the combined wind and snow load is as high as 5400pa, please use eight clamps. Mounting with IronRidge Solar Mounts with Integred Grounding IronRidge Solar Mounts with Integred Grounding is a UL 2703 approved system for ET Solar module series: ET-P660XXXWB, ET-P660XXXWW, ET-P660XXXBB,modules, 60 cell modules with 40 mm frame height, Black and Silver. ET-P672XXXWB, ET-P672XXXWW, ET-P672XXXBB, modules, 72 cell modules with 50 mm frame height, Black and Silver. Zero-Rack TM modules mounting with Zep Compible hardwares The array of Zero-Rack TM modules must be mounted to the roof with Zep Leveling Feet and suitable roof tachment devices to maintain the werproof integrity of the roof. The system designer and/or installer are responsible for load calculion and proper quantity and locions of the Zep Leveling Feet. Local wind loading and snow loading should be accounted for in the system design. The mounting system design shall comply with all local building codes. A minimum gap of 0.25 between modules is required to allow for thermal expansion. The system must not be immersed in wer or constantly exposed to wer spray. WARNING! The Fire Ring of this module series is Class C. The design mechanical load is 30psf Grounding of normal modules : All permanently mounted modules have to be provided with approprie grounding. The grounding lug should be suitable for outdoor use with aluminum. The grounding method of the frame of arrays shall comply with the NEC, article 250 and also meet UL 1703 standard. Lay-in-Lug ground part with 32 threads per inch (e.g., the lay-in-lug with UL file number E34440, part # GBL-4DBT should be mounted to one of the 4 mm diameter grounding holes marked as grounding hole on the frame. When the module system is used, it should be connected to the ground reliably. The ground wire should be a naked copper wire with surface coing only and with no insulion jacket. The area of cross-section of wire should be sized in accordance with the prime current carrying conductor. The area of cross-section of wire should meet the NEC, article 250. Installion in Canada shall be in accordance with CSA C22.1, Safety Standard for Electrical Installions, Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1 ( refer Figure 5. Fig 5. PV module grounding with lay in lug (φ 4mm grounding holes The lay-in grounding lug, manufactured by ILSCO, type GBL-4DBT installed to frame using #10-32 inch stainless steel screw, secured to hole opening by star washer, fl washer, split washer and nut, All hardware used is stainless steel. The starwasher is used to break the coing of the frame to obtain reliable grounding terminion. Recommended 6

#10-32 inch stainless steel screw assembly torque is 13.5 lb.inch(1.5 N.m, Next, insert the grounding wire (10-12AWG exposed copper wire is recommended to the feet of the lug, and screw down the slotted screw(recommended torque is 13.5 lb.inch(1.5 N.m. Be careful not to damage the wire copper. Fig 6. Module to grounding rod Grounding of Zero-Rack TM modules: To connect the array to a grounding system, install a Ground Zep in the Zep Groove of a module. Install one Ground Zep for every section of array th is not conductively isoled by a thermal expansion joint (up to 72 modules per Ground Zep. See below for more informion on thermal expansion joints. Use the Ground Zep Driver on the Zep Tool to insert the Ground Zep Key into the Module groove. Rote exactly one quarter turn clockwise. 7

Roof constructions and installions may affect the fire safety of a building; improper installion may cree hazards in the event of a fire. Use components such as ground fault breakers and fuses as required by local authority. Do not use panels near equipment or in places where flammable gases may be genered. The modules have been red Fire Class C, and are suitable for mounting on to a Class A roof. Confirm mounting slope less than 5 in/ft (127mm/305mm to maintain a fire class ring Observe the linear thermal expansion of the module frames (the recommended minimum distance between two modules is 1 cm. 3.3 Junction box The junction box should be fixed on the top end of the module during assembly so as to prevent the seepage of rain. 9

ET Solar provides a wiring type box. When the integred J-box is adopted, no tool is necessary for wiring. Just connect the modules in series according to + or -. You can complete complex series and parallel connection easily and quickly using different electric connectors provided by your supplier. Connectors provided by different suppliers will not mutually mch up. Different connectors provided by one supplier will not mch up either. Only one type of the same connector from one supplier should be used to ensure the reliability of the electrical connection. Some junction boxes include three or more terminals. Only those terminals indiced with "+" and "-" should be connected to the load. The others are designed for the bypass diodes to reduce the damage to modules caused by hot spots and to ensure undisrupted electrical energy output from the array. The hex nut in the exit position on the junction box is used to hold a rubber ring to seal the box. When disconnecting the connectors of a photovoltaic module in a module array th is exposed to sunlight, electric arcs may result. Such arcs may cause burns and fires. Therefore, PV system commissioning and maintenance must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the NEC. Before disconnecting a module in a solar array, disconnect the string of module from the DC Disconnect the inverter side, and then fully cover the module with an opaque merial. Do not short the positive and the negive connectors of a module exposed to sunlight. 10

WARNING! Wiring must only be completed by a qualified engineer with suitable tools. The specificion of wire for the electric coupler th ET Solar provided is 1 x 4.0mm 2. Equivalent wire should be used if the user prefers to use his own wire. When the module s red current is lower, 12AWG wire is recommended for use, and the strength of the wire should be taken into considerion. ET Solar does not provide any output wiring for module installion. ET Solar modules are designed to use copper wire only. The Wiring used is UL listed. The installion in Canada shall be in accordance with CSA C22.1, Safety standard for electrical installions, Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1. 3.4 Output Voltage, Current and Maximum Power The open- voltage (Voc, short- current (Isc and maximal power (Pmax are printed on the PET label on the backside of the module. The electrical characteristics are within ±10 percent of the indiced values of Isc, Voc and Pmax under standard test conditions (irradiance of 100 mw/cm 2, AM1.5 spectrum, and a cell temperure of 25 o C (77 o F. Under normal conditions, a photovoltaic module is likely to experience conditions th produce more current and/or voltage than reported standard test conditions. Accordingly, the values of Isc and Voc marked on this module should be multiplied by a factor of 1.25 when determining component voltage rings, conductor capacities, fuse sizes, and size of controls connected to the PV output. If modules are to be installed in parallel (electrically, each module (or series string of modules so connected shall be provided with the maximum series fuse as specified. 11

WARNING! In order to avoid electric shock and scalding, it is necessary to cover the surface of the module with a suitable merial to prevent incidental light contacting the modules during the connection process. The modules will genere electrical energy under sunlight and other light sources. Refer to Section 690-8 of the Nional Electrical Code for an additional multiplying factor of 125 percent (80 percent dering which may be applicable. 4. Characteristics of Modules WARNING! The product is designed as a plain ple type th should not be irradied directly under concentred light. The array consists of modules in series and parallel and has a similar electrical curve to th of a single module. In order to output maximum electrical power to the load, try to make the impedance of the load mch the electric performance of the module or array. In order to maintain the stability of the system, also pay tention to the changes in the electric curve of modules, especially under weak light. In more complex control s, the controller supplier may have already adopted microprocessors for the tracking of maximum power output.
