NASHVILLE AMATEUR RADIO CLUB, INC. OPERATION PLAN Bike MS: Bike to Jack and Back 2016 1. Subject Operation Plan for the Bike MS: Bike to Jack and Back 2016, Saturday October 1st and Sunday 2nd, 2016. 2. Mission The Nashville Amateur Radio Club will provide communications support for the Bike MS: Bike to Jack and Back 2016. 3. General a. Please ensure that your radio is programmed prior to the event, INCLUDING TONES WHERE APPLICABLE. b. Ham Radio Operators should be on station no later than the scheduled start time for their location each day, and remain on site until their station is closed by the event administrator. c. The Day 1 Start location is Page High School in Franklin TN (Williamson County) on Saturday, October 1 st. d. The Day 2 Start location is Motlow State Community College in Lynchburg/Tullahoma TN (Moore County) on Sunday, October 2 nd. e. The ride is scheduled to start at 7:30 AM both days. Page 2 of 7
4. Communications a. The Net Control call sign will be K4CPO, call sign of the Nashville Amateur Radio Club, Inc. b. Mike Hamby, KI4UJY, Jeff Pryor, KC8NNO and others will be Net Control. c. Utilize Tactical Call Signs for calling Net Control and other stations, use your FCC call sign to identify at the end of your transmission. d. Additional reserve simplex frequency will be 146.5500 (simplex). Any changes in operating frequencies should be made only as directed by Net Control. f. APRS (Automatic Packet/Position Reporting System) will be in use for Location Tracking Data via 144.3900 and APRS-IS (Internet). g. PLEASE KEEP NET CONTROL INFORMED IF YOU CHANGE FREQUENCY. 6. Administrative Information a. Ham Radio Operators should arrive at their station and be set up no later than the scheduled start time each day for their location; b. Check into Net Control when you arrive on station. Notify Net Control of any problems which may occur at a station along the route; c. Maintain a cumulative count of riders through rest stop locations; d. Notify Net Control when the first riders check into a station, and when the last riders leave a station; e. SAGs should keep Net Control posted periodically as to their location. Watch for riders who may be experiencing problems; f. The MS Staff has informed Rest Stop Volunteers that a Ham Radio Operator will be stationed at each Rest Stop, and the Hams are there to communicate for them to the outside world. Any situation that requires MS Staff assistance should be relayed through the Ham Radio Operator. Rest Stop Volunteers are to advise the Ham Radio Operator any problems with food, supplies or any other incident. Rest Stop Volunteers are to record any medical treatment on incident report forms. Completed forms should be held by the Ham Radio Operator and given to the MS Staff at the end of the day. g. Any complaints, contact Jeff Pryor KC8NNO by phone 419-787-5313. h. DO NOT AIR ANY GRIPES ON THE RADIO OR FACEBOOK! These actions can negatively affect the Club s image. Help your club and give us a chance to improve/fix the process rather than griping in public. 7.
