20 Engine 30-2 Cooling System Tractor - 2030 WATER PUMP Disconnect electrical wiring and remove alternator. Remove fan and pulley. Drain cooling system and remove inlet and outlet pipes from the water pump. On later model diesel engines, disconnect oil cooler inlet and outlet pipes. Remove water pump. Press bearing, seal and impeller from pump housing with JD262 special tool. Be sure that tool locates on outer race of bearing. Fig. 3-Removing Impeller SPEC IAL TOOL 5. Loose or defective rubber cup. 6. Failed bearing. Leakage at the drain hole in the pump housing usually indicates a leaking seal. Replace seal, rubber cup, and ceramic insert as necessary. Assembly Use JD-262 Tool to press bearing and shaft assembly into housing until outer metal case is flush with housing. Fig. 2-Removing Bearing, Seal, and Impeller Press the bearing from the impeller (Fig. 3). I nspection and Repair Inspect pump parts for wear or damage. Replace as necessary. Pump leakage can be caused by one or more of the following conditions: 1. Cracked housing. 2. Scratched, damaged, or worn seal. 3. Damaged impeller bore. Fig. 4-Pump Seal I nstall water pump seal over the shaft and in the pump housing. The wide portion of the seal inner diameter should be toward the impeller. 4. Cracked, loose, or damaged ceramic insert.
